3D printed powder cup weight gain while curing?

So while I’m waiting for my Ingenuity Precision powder cup to get here from Oklahoma, I decided I’d try a couple of different powder cups to reduce powder bounce from my from my new IP trickler mount.

IMG_9796.jpeg

I’ve always had some powder bounce with the aluminum 419 cup and the IP trickler, even with the original mount.

IMG_3419.jpeg

But the Area 419 cup failed in a big way with the latest mount, bouncing powder everywhere. So I ordered the IP cup.

In the mean time I got an MK Machine 3D printed powder cup to try out and it was a failure, as far as powder bounce goes, too.

IMG_9825.jpeg

While I Iwas waiting for the next powder cup to get here I noticed something weird.

The MK Machine cup that weighed 245.08 grains when I got it now weighed 245.18 grains two days later. It currently weighs 245.22 as of this morning.

Way back since the ChargeMaster and later the Sartorious days, I’ve been writing my powder cup’s weight on the cup.

IMG_9826.jpeg

The Area 419 cup’s weight hasn’t changed.

Next up was this really nice Dead Drop cup I got last Saturday.

IMG_9827.jpeg

It weighed 924.56 grains when I got it.
This morning it weighs 925.66.

I realize the DD cup is a ceramic; the handle is printed.

The 419 cup’s weight has not changed.

IMG_9816.jpeg

Scale is calibrated and grounded, has a recently replaced power plug/ wall wart transformer and is connected to a line conditioner.

I have no doubt the scale is correct, because the 419 cup’s weight is a constant.

Humidity in this room is pretty consistent year round between 50-60%.

Anyone else experienced this? Do 3D prints gain weight while curing?

New Member moving to Louisiana

Hi everyone,

I’m new to the forum and wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I’ve recently gotten interested in precision shooting and I'm looking forward to learning from the community here. My primary interests are precision rifle shooting and improving both my marksmanship out to 600 yards and gear knowledge.

In the process of building a .308 and working to be as proficient at possible out to 600 yards. I've hunted my whole life, but most of the shooting I've done is 250 yards or less, never needed to shoot further outside of the range. For shits and giggles I've shot out to 800, not very successfully. I was more trying to see what the rifle is capable of. I'm also learning to reload from my neighbor but I don't have anything for myself in that regard.

I’ve already picked up a lot of useful info just browsing through the threads and I’m excited to be a part of the discussions going forward.

What equipment would be best for me to dial in on precision shooting? I'm looking for recs on anything regarding data collection.

Steak Saturday, Monday Edition

Missed our typical steak night on Saturday due to my oldest daughter having a soccer tournament roughly 2 hours away from home, so we did it tonight instead. Cajun ribeyes reverse seared. Brought them to 110°F on the Gravity 980, then seased in bacon grease on the Flat-Iron griddle with a cajun compound butter to finish. So. Damn. Delicious.

May 2025 Topstraps Rimfire Match Results

The May match turned out pretty good. Less people, more new shooters I think than regulars but maybe being Mothers Day kept some away or maybe getting boring. I switched some racks around to shake it up a bit, some might stay in place others will be returned to their regular spot but for sure the Dog Bones will be out for next month.

All day Friday the wind really blew and from about noon on it really howled on Saturday. The scores suffered a bit due to the wind gusting up to 27-29 mph at times which made hitting some smaller targets tough but everyone gave it their all with no complaints. Those pesky Dog Bones someone slid in at 150 yards didn't leave much room for error with them being only about 1 inch wide with a bit of nubs at top and bottom. Sunday shooters did much better with them, they may appear later on as a bonus somewhere but for now back in the weeds they go.

Kurt Yoder was really nailing them with that Sako Quad, he's really putting on those Vudoo competitors. Let's hope he don't upgrade to a Savage MK II or we'll never stand a chance of keeping up. I did put the Chrono up for Cuda that wanted to try some $1.07/50 Aguilla ammo, I just may have to git me sum of dat. 78 shots recorded extreme spread of 118 fps with a 21.6 SD. That's some serious Longrange ammo there. He shot twice, first time when it was cold on Friday and tried it later on Sunday when it was well into the 70s to see if there was a difference. NOPE That's the same gun he shot Lapua SLR in last fall and nearly cleared the course and won the match with. AMMO AMMO AMMO

Bonus rack this month was splitting the bullet on an axe at 50 yards. Got 4 shots to figure it out, a lot tougher than you'd think. I included how they got their hits at the end of each of their names. OK, on to the scores. Class winners and a free entry next month will be Kurt Yoder in A, Mark Elliott in B and Karen Marsh in C. Check the little hanging clipboard to claim your coupon. There are past months winners also hanging there so check it when you sign up.

All ties decided by reverse count including bonus rack.

I'm selling a slightly used Vortex Razor HD LHT 4.5-22x50 MRAD reticle. Comes with box, sun shade, flip up caps, and throw lever. Scope works perfectly, clean glass, but turrets have minor scuffs as seen in pictures. Great light weight scope but it sits in the closet too much.
$1100 shipped in the U.S., Paypal accepted.
