Adam Schiff Pays Homage to Dianne Feinstein, Introduces ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban of 2025

Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) paid homage to the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and introduced “the ‘assault weapons’ ban of 2025” Wednesday morning.

In an X post, Schiff explained that his legislation would “ban the sale, manufacture, import, and transfer of military-style ‘assault weapons.'”

He claimed there have been “486 mass shootings involving ‘assault weapons'” since 2006, but did not provide any sources to substantiate the figures. He did reference Feinstein’s introduction of the first “assault weapons” ban over three decades ago, then claimed her ban “had a dramatic impact on mass shootings” during the ten years in which it was in place.

Red dots with good auto brightness

I’m considering a RMRcc for my Glock 26, but after running this Holosun 407k with manual brightness only, I’m starting to think about the importance of auto adjusting.

This is for my daily CC and it’s also my idpa gun. I’m a middle of the pack shooter with draw to first round hit around 1.5 seconds.

The reason I bring that up is, does the adjustment actually keep up with a shooter’s draw stroke. Or is auto brightness just a sales gimmick?

Maggie’s Barrel Weevils Are Real!

I have an early Savage .338LM FCP that saw a lot of use 6-10 years ago, but sat out unloved for the last few years. Today I decided to take it out and clean it up. A cursory visual down the barrel showed something about half way down, so to clean out the dust (and apparently also copper corrosion) I wet a patch and ran it through.

Now I kid you not, this was not a staged photo nor a fake. This was actually in the bore. And I did not put it in there. This is how the patch came out.

Accessories WTT AXMC/SR 338LM barrel for 300NM barrel

Hey all. I’ve got a 27 inch factory AI barrel in 338 Lapua Magnum. I need a barrel for this rifle that is 300 Norma Magnum. I’d prefer 20-24 inches but will take anything I can find up to 27 inches. I’m extremely open to Proof Carbon or steel as well as factory AI barrels. If you’ve got Carbon I’d toss in some cash.

We would each pay shipping of our own barrel. My 338LM barrel is DE color and has 50 rounds on it. There are some scuff from the safe and I can send pics to potential trade partners. Threads are immaculate. No muzzle device included.

Holler at me if have something to trade here.

I guess I could be talked into other barrels such as 6.5CM or 300PRC but strictly looking for 18-24 inches on those. M30 threads only please.

Building my first M40 for the Vintage Sniper matches.

This is a virgin Remington 700 RR prefix stripped receiver. It has no wear marks at all and has never had a bolt installed. I pulled the barrel off this receiver for the previous owner 2 years ago. The barrel is new and un-fired. I just hand screwed it on for the picture.

This will be for Vintage Sniper matches. The stock should be an original M40 stock.

I'll need a complete bolt, M40 compliant barrel, scope mount, magazine, stock metal, maybe a new recoil lug and trigger assembly. Can I use an upgraded recoil lug in the VS matches?

Any advice will be appreciated while I comb through the M40 archives.

I will be going with a Bartlein barrel.

Would this be the proper bolt? It appears to be new, unused.

I have the buttplate, but no sling swivels. :(

Here is a picture of the brass pin in the left side of the stock.

The stock was damaged during my move in 2022. It had some serious dents.
Zak2Pu8l.jpg

I spent an hour or so steaming out the dents last night with a wet rag and an industrial heat gun. Here's the same spot after about an hour of steaming and sanding.

Here's another area that I'm working on. The dents were much worse but they're almost gone. After this, there will be no more dents. There were three dents in this image.

This stock is abandoned property. I was stripping this stock for a customer about 10 years ago. He was supposed to bring me the action to be bedded after the stock was done but he disappeared.

I haven't touched it in 10 years since I stripped it. It still has some stains I need to remove. I don't even remember how I stripped it. I might have used oven cleaner.

There is still some leftover bedding that needs to be removed by hand in some spots. I'm talking about the little bedding spots outside the actual intended bedding area.

I'm also thinking I should finish the action and bed the stock before I stain and finish the wood. No sense in committing all this time on a wood finish only to risk damaging the finish during the bedding process.

Realistically, I don't have the budget to go all-out on a historically accurate clone. I'll go with the Bartlein barrel and I don't mind using reproduction parts, as long as they're as good or better than the original. I just want to build a rifle that qualifies for the vintage sniper matches. I'll probably use a current production Leupold 3-9x40 hunting scope. I'd like to use the best trigger allowed, so if anyone knows what's the best performing trigger, please let me know.

Does anyone know where I can get the correct bottom metal, magazine, follower and action screws? I'm new to M40's and I couldn't tell what's right or wrong.

Are PTG bolts as good or better than the factory bolts?

Tony.

T3x barrel profiles & bolt

I've decided to go the Tikka route, and right now am choosing between the Hunter & the superlite. Given I'll be dropping the barreled action into a McMillan a5 (channeled for a heavy pre-fit) and shooting the factory tikka barrel out until then, is there a reason to go with the hunter over the lite or superlite? They are the same cost at the store I'm looking.

At first I was told the only differences in the T3x line was the stock and fluting of the barrel, but google says the Hunter model has a thicker profile. Can anyone confirm this?

1) is it the same profile as the CTR?
2) does anyone know the profile of the Tac A1 barrel or if that's the same as the CTR?
3) is the bolt handle the only difference in the action between the CTR/Tac a1, and the rest of the T3x lineup?

.308 win - reloading same brass for bolt action and an AR-10

I have a .308 win BA rifle and an AR-10 rifle and my questions is, because fired brass forms to the chamber, should I keep brass fired in bolt action rifle separate from AR-10 and vice versa for easier reloading?

Is anyone using the same brass for a bolt action and a gas rifle? If yes, what is your experience with reloading same brass? Do you find that you need to trim your brass more often, or something else...?
