I was able to shoot my 7PRC beyond 1K finally and have some questions about getting correct bullet drop.

175 ELDX with MV of 2899 fps @ 8680 ft elevation, 74 F and 12% humidity

Took some initial shots at 806 yards and all first round impacts. Using sig Kilo10k with weather station and AB gave a solution of 4.7 mils

Next target was 1242 yards. AB gave me the solution of 8.7 mils.. Came up short and ultimately needed .5 mils to get on target.

*edit info add: I also plugged all my data into hornady 4DOF and it gave me a correction of 8.9 . Still .3 mils short

I know there are variables in shooting this distance. This is a hunting rifle, not target, so I don't plan to shoot an animal that far, but it is bothersome that my ballistic solution was off. Sig has velocity calibration and 2 target drop calibration. a velocity calibration would obviously be the wrong approach. Would the the measurement difference between 2 targets be the solution that would get my ballistic solution corrected using the Sig BDX software?

Ok, first post in this section of the forum. I've been reloading 9mm for years with a dillon 650 no questions there got that down. But getting deeper into 2-gun pcsl type matches and Im looking to work up the lightest recoiling load possible for my match rifle. What do you all recommend using that will meter well in a dillion and be temp stable. I live in AZ so extreme temp swings are normal depending on the time of year. This load will not need to be accurate past 100yds. If I shoot a match at distance Ill just use some factory ammo until I start down the rabbit hole of accuracy.

I currently have dillon carbide dies in 223, still need to get the case trimmer to help process everything quickly. Ive snagged some powders, currently have varget, tac, n133 and stable match. Im thinking the stable match and varget will be saved for accurate loads later down the road but worry Tac might be to temp sensitive for a year round blaster load.

I am looking to purchase my first thermal scope. It is going to be used on a .22 ARC AR primarily but may get shifted over to a .22-250 bolt gun once in a while. I am going to use it for varmint hunting here in Maryland and Virginia. Mostly coyotes, foxes, and raccoons on my family farm. I will take it to Florida for hog hunting in February. My budget is around $7,500.00 right now but I can go up a little if I have to. I have been looking at the AGM Adder V2 640 or 1280 and the NocPix Ace H50R or H60R. I keep going back and forth between the 640 resolution vs the 1280 resolution and the base magnification of 2 vs 3. I know I can save a little bit going with the 640 but can't help but think cry once buy once and get the 1280. I like the occular magnification on the Nocpix but have held and looked through the AGM at a gun show and was impressed with it. Is there a practical advantage of the 1280 vs 640? I know my shots are not going to be farther out just because of the increased resolution. I figure with the longest I will take a shot at night will be maybe 300 yards. I have only been hunting once with a thermal and that was using a clip on that my cousin owns. He limited the shots to 150 yards since I was not used to his rifle.

Have seen a couple posts about some rather shitty chambers produced by Bergara in the heavy barreled actions. After a couple positive range sessions I went ahead with a good cleaning and decided to have a look at the bore. Other than the slight smear at the edge of the leade the barrel looks good.



Seeing as this chamber *doesn’t engrave* on the rifling when chambering do you think it would hurt to have the leade cleaned up to remove the slight imperfection. This barrel already has shown some sub MOA groups at 50yds in the limited testing I’ve done.

Doesn’t seem possible that 50 yrs ago today the Vietnam War was finally over. There are a few of us on this forum that were old enough to have been directly or indirectly involved. I’m thankful that my time over there was relatively safe compared to the forces on the ground 24/7.
I had an aircraft carrier to protect me , no bugs , no leeches , no VC shooting at me.
I lost a few friends over there , some friends that are still there mentally. I made some life long friends I still see and keep up with today.
For all of you who were there , glad you made it home too.
