LRI blueprinted the action pinned the lug and blew the rear guard screw out to 1/4-28 for me. They also trued the bolt opened the bolt face to .473 and installed the M16 extractor. Asking $1000obo for everything in the pictures… besides the rug shipped to your FFL. My loss is your gain. Pretty motivated to sell so make an offer.

I have a Luna that has been “modified”. I’m pretty happy with how bright it is for long range illumination when used with a pvs27. My problem with it is how fragile they are. I feel like I’m going to snap it in half if my rifle bumps into something. Also the zero kind wonders as the adjustment screws seem to kinda float around.

I am looking for a replacement that can take a bit of a beating and also hold a good zero.

Has anyone compared side by side a Luna to a full power peq15 as far as long range illumination? I’m not worried about ir or vis laser brightness.

Or any other recommendations around that $2500 range that has as least as bright of an adjustable illuminator as the Luna but way more durable?

Anyone have one of these- what are your thoughts and how does it shoot?

I recently purchased and shot a load pack from Copper Creek and wanted to post my results for others to come across when researching them.

Intro

• Ammo
  • Load pack 1 which compares the same bullet at the same seating depth, but with incremental charge increases (unknown %)
  • $119 shipped for 25 rounds that come in a hard 50 round ammo box
  • 140 Berger Elite Hunter in LRP Lapua brass
• I went this route since I am out of state and away from my reloading gear, and just got the rifle together

The first thing to call out is that I had one of the purple rounds not go off. The primer strike looks fine but no dice. The rest of the results were okay, but the point of getting a load pack like this is to test each color and see what your rifle likes. Based on the results, black is by far the best for my rifle both with group and speed. Brass and primers did not show signs of pressure except 1-2 rounds in the blue group had a noticeably heavier bolt lift, but nothing crazy.


Conclusion

At $119 shipped to my door, its expensive. That being said I think it fits my use case. It's very disappointing that 1 round failed to fire (almost $5 wasted), I will contact copper creek to see how they handle that issue. I will likely get more ammo from them, either new brass with the load data from the black groups, or send in my ~60 once fired Lapua brass for the same black load. I do not think I will do the second load pack that plays with seating depth as I don't have my calipers or comparator tools and do not feel like buying another set.

I will add in pictures of the groups that have the color in the overlay and what the rounds look like.

Hunting coons on Lake Austin in the mid 70's before there were houses, I made a legendary shot one night from a boat using a headlight and Marlin 39A on a coon that was perched in tree up on the Mnt. Bonnell bluff in this picture .

It took forever for the boar coon to kicked and flop down the bluff before falling off the limestone cliff face in the second picture, through the light beam, into the water.

If I ever get to meet EM, I'll mention that. I'm sure he'd be fascinated.
