Is this normal for a custom action?

In a few words: with those tight tolerances, there is a certain way i have to push the bolt forward, otherwise i get some resistance to the point that the bolt gets almost stuck. If I push in a certain way, the cycling is fine and pretty smooth.
With the few bolt actions i used during the years (cz 527 and bergaras b14s) the bolt was much sloppier but almost in any way you run the bolt, it worked.

The bolt is clean and the action is clean, too. What i am gonna describe happens with and without lube.
The action is a defiance deviant ga hunter and the finish is the original black one that defiance applies on the bolt and on the action itself. It is mounted via the proprietary manners mini chassis on a manners stock. It uses aics mags. I asked for the standard tolerances that defiance applies, i didn't ask for the increased clearance bolt.

The action runs pretty smooth with and without the magazine inserted qhen there are no rounds in it. It just gets stuck when not pushing in a straight forward way, especially when applying leverage on the bolt, resulting in force being put more towards the side of the bolt.
When pushing straight or, better, applying some force towards the non bolt side, it runs smoothly.
With live cartidges it is more or less the same but the cycling is smooth only if i push in a certain way, there is less margin of error when chambering a round. If i don't push in the correct way, the bolt gets a lot of resistance. If i push strongly it works anyway, if I push slowly but applying the force in a correct, more centered or towards the opposite side of the bolt, again, it works.

Is this normal for a new custom action? Maybe i am just used to sloppy factory bolts which gives more margin in the cycling process.

Precision Rifle Gear New to nice bipods, looking at the Atlas BT64 LW17

Greetings,

I've been on here for a long time. Don't post much, but read so much. This is where the experts talk and I'm no expert. I do appreciate you guys and your knowledge base.

I've never had a really nice optic or a very reliable bipod. I always bought EO Tech and Trijicon Acog for optics. I've used all kinds of cheaper bipods and want something solid and versatile now.

My gun iis an IWI Tavor 7 with a Manticore Arms fore end. This means that I have to use the Mlok to convert to picatinny rail. This is not a very accurate rifle, but I like it. I'm not in the game for .25 moa, I'm just looking for a good, reliable 7.62.

I've had my eye on the Atlas for a while and wanted to know what you guys think of the BT46 LW17 as an entry level upgrade to the junk I'm used to. As a boy, Harris Bipods were the way to go. Times have obviously changed and I want a bipod that will cant and pan.

Please let me know what you think and if this is a good option, I would like to know what accessories are a must.

This is a battle rifle for me. My go to gun. I've been overseas and I'm not impressed with the 5.56.

I just bought an Elcan Spectre 1.5-6 and a Trijicon RMR Type 2 to go on the picatinny rail on top.

Thank you in advance.

Determining Caliber Coefficient (Not Ballistic coefficient)

Hey everyone, I am wondering how you can determine caliber coefficient. Not to be confused with ballistic coefficient though bc is required to determine this. The CC is a number derived from the bc and the caliber your are shooting.

I may not be calling it by the correct name. It’s part of the wind deflection calculation.
RC x (WS/CC) x WV = #MRAD x 3.438 = #MOA

So for your CC for a .308 win in this 4
A 300 win mag would be 5

What’s the formula to determine the CC for different calibers. Please provide the forms and an example.

REMMINGTON 243 03A3

I inherited several rifles (I'm not a gun guy to speak of at all ) any information I can get would be appreciated, when my old neighbor passed ( my friend) I was given his rifles, he was from the Virginia's, hunted and fished his whole life. I took this particular rifle in to be educated. Told the fellow behind the counter what I had been told about the rifle. He said that I had been told wrong that the rifle was not a military issue 243 03A3, after quickly checking it out said he needed to apologize. That he was wrong . That he had never seen anything like it, the size and weight is mind boggling, I'm attaching a few photos , help me if you can, and thanks

Firearms Remington produced Springfield 1903A3

Selling a very nice piece of American military history. I purchased it ~4 years ago from a private owner who was a relative of the soldier that the rifle belonged to during WW2. Its current configuration/shape is the same as it was when it was brought back from the war. I’m only selling because I have multiple of these rifles and was lucky enough to have just purchased an A4 sniper model, so just hoping to recoup some funds.

The overall condition of the rifle is very good. The stock is excellent, with no major defects in the wood and has a very prominent “RA-P” cartouche stamp on the left side.

The parkerized finish on the receiver is very good, with only slight signs of wear.

The bluing on the bolt/bolt parts, the barrel, and bayonet lug, is good-very good. Typically signs of light wear on the bolt and bolt handle. The muzzle end of the barrel, and crown, do have some slight-moderate fading of the blue, but is still evident.

All mechanical parts function as they should (the rear sights, the bolt, the magazine, and the trigger). The bore is very bright with no signs of pitting or rust. The rifling does show signs of use, but is still very evident. I have shot this rifle 2 or 3 times, and it shoots remarkably well for its age.

The serial number on the receiver dates its manufacture to June of 1943; which also suggests that the current stock is original to the receiver because of the cartouche stamp “RA-P”, indicating inspector Peterson of the Raritan Arsenal, who was the chief inspector from 1942-1946.

The barrel is stamped RA 8-44.

I’m sure I missed something, so please feel free to reach out with any questions!
