SOLD Hog rifle 700, Cadex, N/V

Selling a great hog set up. Rem 700 AAC-SD 308 cal with Timney trigger, and 20" 5/8x24 threaded barrel that has under 600 rounds fired.
This is set in a Cadex dual strike folder, with a Raptor N/V on top for a dedicated after dark shooting rifle. This is a realistic 350-400 yard and in N/V sight without illumination. I have moved to all clip on N/V and Thermal nowadays, but at a much different cost.
Not a safe queen as it has had some adventures, but is in great condition still.
This poor rifle has been just sitting and not getting any exercise at all.
Price $3000 shipped but insurance on buyer if desired.
Will not separate unless all pieces are spoken for.
Trees are 207 yards away
One tree pic is with civilian DBAL illumination
Wood fence posts 453 yards away
There was no moon out in these pictures, it was a dark night.
Barreled action with Timney trigger $550
Cadex Dual Strike $1150
Raptor $1650
Individual pieces do not include shipping

Velocity differences between 6.5cm brass brands

I am mot an expert reloader by any meansI load a lot of 6.5cm and have accumulated a number of type of brass. I have noticed using different brass results in big changes in muzzle velocity.

For example my Hornady large primer brass loaded with 41.8gr H4350 147gr ELD-M and 210M primer averages 2572fps with an SD of 14 on the first loading.

Using Federal large primer brass with 41.5gr (0.3gr less) powder and 210M primers is considerably faster at 2702fps, SD 11 although that was on the second loading.

The Federal brass is about 20gr heavier. Neither are annealed. Is the slightly reduced case capacity the reason for the increased speed?

I have noticed that my brass from slowest to fastest is:

Hornady large primer
Lapua small primer
Federal small primer
Federal large primer

Changing brass brands causes the biggest velocity shift I have noticed, much more than different primers or even a small changes in charge weight. I would expect some change but that seems like a lot.

Is this normal? Are the higher speeds with some brands just a free velocity increase? Does anyone else track this or am I just an idiot for having so many types of brass or possibly doing something else wrong? The Hornady handloads sat for the better part of a year.

A Small Rant about AR mounts ahead of April Fools Day

So I just bought a nice Trijicon Credo 1-6x24 FFP Mil Red, all of 19 oz of it. And I got it for a steal of a deal. That aside, I knew I need some new 1 piece mounts that didn't weigh a ton, so I let my fingers do the walking in the digital marketplace.

And while shopping my angst was aroused by many a well known purveyor's of said mounts. Why?? Because many simply do not list the weight of their creations. I mean like come on. Weight or lack thereof is immensely important in cobbling together a good scope and mount combination. The prices are easy enough to find, but weight seems mysteriously absent in many cases.

I first went to Trijicon since mating a scope with the makers own mounts seemed like a good idea at first. Well not so good. Trijicon's 1.59" High Cantilevered Mount caught my eye. They gave spec's on everything, except the weight.

Moving on to Nightforce, they had a nice X-Treme Duty 30mm 1.54" 0 MOA Ultramount #A699. But the weight of the dang thing is apparently a military secret as it is nowhere listed.

Badger Ordnance Badger Ordnance 30mm One-Piece 1.54" Condition One Modular 0 MOA I finally found (6.5 oz) only by going to Badger's own website. And they are priced north of $300 green backs, which is a bit spendy for a sub-1K$ lpvo like the Credo.

Rather than bore you with further travails down my personnel rabbit hole, I think you get my point. Scope base makers, especially those that charge well north of $200. semoleon's should put their weight of their product front and center everywhere they are sold. I shouldn't have to go to multiple places just to find out.

Anyway, in the end, I went with an old standby Primary Arms PLx 30mm Cantilever Mount - 1.5". About $212. bucks for a 5.9 oz mount, before tax & shipping, with my GI discount.

Paper Range Log

Hello all,

I'm trying to work out a range log to help me keep track of results at the range. Currently it is in letter format, but I might try to condense it into a smaller page size. I'm sure I'm going a bit overboard on this but looking back over my notebook, I can see that I am forgetting to mark down key points. If anyone has a better idea or can offer ideas for improvements, it is greatly appreciated.
