S&B MTII Users

I have a PMII 6-36 with the DT35 elevation turret and ST capped windage. Before I bought it, I knew I would want to get the windage turret changed for sure, I want an exposed locking windage. I also wasn't sure if I would like the DT35 elevation and at the time assumed I would want it swapped for the DTII+.

Now that I have in in hand, I don't hate the DT35 elevation and also don't want to further limit the available elevation travel with the DTII+ (30.5mil), which means, if I am going to swap the elevation turret, I would be going with the MTII.

My question is for those that have used the MTII turret; how do you guys like it? Do you like the .05mil clicks or do you feel it is too fine an adjustment that just slows down dialing?

Reloading Equipment WTS 500x Blem Hornady 190Gr. A-Tips $250

Bought these along with some 6mm blem A-Tips last spring for a new 7PRCW build but never got around to it. 4 sealed boxes + 1 open box repackaged into a new bag. Blems appear to be tip related, with ~4 per 100 that have a disformed tip (example pic included). Didn't see any concerning discoloration or weight variance with the box I opened. Shipping will be fully insured and the buyers choice of UPS or USPS. Thanks!

Optics Athon Ares ETR gen 2 UHD 4.5-30 BRAND NEW $1000

Up for sale is a Brand New Gen2 Athlon Ares ETR UHD. New Aprs12 FFP mil reticle.

I just picked this up, it’s extremely nice and a worthy upgrade over the gen 1( I had one before this)

I mocked it up on the rifle and decided I want to stay in the Zeiss family to match my 4-25 s3.

Asking $1000 shipped, I take PayPal, Venmo, and cashapp.

Will also trade towards a Zeiss s3 6-36 plus cash on my end.

Kapture Gear digiscope adapter?

Any feedback on this new option to Olllin and Magview? Waiting until they have a fit for my phone, definitely like the more functional case. I do wonder about the long-term durability of 3M tape holding the mag ring on the eyepiece, but also know how strong that stuff is when applied correctly.

Accessories SPF RRS TFCT-14L

I've had it only 2 months, original receipt ($1626) from Eurooptic included. Tried it once in the desert, decided a 3-series was better for my purposes. It's the lightest most compact ARC Anvil 30 tripod. I was able to make shots to 1000 yards on a 12" plate, from seated/kneeling/prone positions. It would be OK for standing shots at shorter distances (<500 yards, depending on target size). The only sign of use is on the anvil head (see photos) from where an M-LOK sling swivel dragged across it when inserting the ARCA rail. Comes w original box/accessories.

Trip to the "Desert" - OR - Oh That Insane Mirage

A friend and I took an epic trip to the desert this weekend. We left Friday late afternoon, stayed in a cabin near Truckee that night, then got up early and headed out to the "desert." Why the quotes around desert? See below

Waking up in the morning in Truckee - remember, we're 4 days til May here...
night in Truckee.jpg

You can't tell from the pic, but it was still snowing.

We drove out to the desert and found this amazing dry lake bed out in the middle of nowhere. What a great place to shoot, right?

We set a 24" circular target at 1860, but...

Rain is coming.

The rain clears and we get the 300 PRC and spotting scope set up.

What's wrong with this picture?
mirage target.jpg

The arrow is pointing at the target. Does that look like a 24" circle to you?

Here's the view through the spotting scope which is a little higher off the ground.
mirage spotting 3 copy.jpg

You can clearly see the mirror image with two "targets" shown. You can also see the kaleidoscope pattern through the spotting scope below (not the target area, but close by).

mirage spotting 2 copy.jpg

I'd never shot across a dry lake bed before, so this was a learning experience for me. What was amazing was how much mirage there was AND the mirror imaging taking place. The pictures look kind of bright, but in reality, at this point just after the rain, it was still cloudy. Mirage was just nasty. I tried a few shots at 1860, but we couldn't even see the misses. My assumption is that the atmospherics causing the mirror imaging also affected viewing the actual target location, so the POA and POI were significantly different.

We ended up moving the target to a closer (and higher) area to get it higher above the lake bed. Impacts were still about .3 mil under what I would have expected.

There will be a video forthcoming - regardless, it was a fun day.
