New to 308

I'm new to the 308 cartridge and am a little confused on barrel twist rates for it. I am in the process of building a M40 clone for the CMP Vintage Sniper Matches and would like to know what is the best barrel twist rate for 308. So I'm looking for your experience, opinions and facts on twist rate for this cartridge.
Thanks in advance

5.56 f2f malf on Larue upper w/ A5H3

hey guys I’ve got a 16” Larue Match upper on a Anderson lower with A5 RE. I’m running a Tubbs flatwire spring and recently put in an H3 Vltor buffer. I noticed at the range yesterday that when I was shooting from prone I got a fail to feed where the face of carrier got hung up on mag follower while the LAST round sat on top of mag free with just the tip poking into chamber. I’ve never seen or heard of that specific malf before and was hoping someone could shed light on what may be causing that..? I was shooting .223 69g SMK from ADI when this happened.
I swapped to my 14.5 BA SPR upper and same issue popped up once as well but can’t say for sure which ammo I was using when that happened.. I was also shooting 5.56 Bone Frog 77g OTM and PMC XTAC.
I haven’t had this issue with a H2 Vltor buffer so could it most likely be the buffer, if so, would like to know how that’s the case.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Pics are of both uppers View attachment IMG_1286.jpeg

Description:

Originally developed in the 1970s by John Unertl for the USMC, the MST-100 was purpose-built for the M40A1 .308 rifle and later adapted for the .50BMG. Designed for uncompromising durability, its housing and turrets are precision-machined from 1018 steel, ensuring reliability in the harshest conditions. The elevation turret features an integral BDC calibrated for M118LR ammunition, with a veneer ring for fine-tuned ½ MOA adjustments.

In 2000, U.S. Optics took on the refurbishment contract, rebuilding these legendary optics to an even higher standard. To accommodate the M40A3’s 30 MOA base, we replaced the original leaf springs with a tapered coil spring, delivering flawless tracking. The scopes were further enhanced with a rugged coating for superior corrosion resistance. The original wire MIL-Dot reticle was upgraded to a recoil-resistant design, engineered to withstand the punishing forces of the .50 caliber platform.

Due to overwhelming demand, U.S. Optics is releasing an exclusive production run of just 100 MST-100 scopes. With modern materials and CNC precision, this limited-edition optic delivers legendary performance with contemporary advancements, standing among the finest precision scopes available today.

Rimfires vs. Airguns

I always try to shoot all of my air rifles somewhat regularly just to be sure they are working ok. My Crown MK2 has been sitting for quite some time and all the air leaked out. It's about 6 years old and I suspect the O rings in the reg are dried out and brittle. I aired it up and it held air overnight, so off to the range. This gun is in .22 cal with a 380mm barrel. I was shooting AEA 18.3 gr pellets and was pretty happy with the one hole groups at 50 yards.

Then, another shooter showed up next to me with his RimX rifle with a Shilen bull barrel and MDT chassis and a bunch of different match ammo. He was shooting at 50 yards too. I swung my scope over to his target and while his groups were ok, they weren't as good as mine. We were both shooting off of bipods. It was a very calm day and we both shared a lot of our experiences. This was one of the most enjoyable days I've spent at our range. Nice weather, nice friends.

Dallas ICE shooting

Looks like another wacko shots some people at a ICE detention center in Dallas, unable to link articles, but seems to be two fatalities + the shooter took his own life, news says three detainees shot , so WTF crazies are shooting illegals now , must have been a poor shot , just can't see a lefty shooting a person in custody, had to be aiming for a officer and hit a illegal by mistake ,otherwise it just doesn't make sense.
