225 eldm elr load durability

I'm working up an elr load and possibly a long range hunting load. It's a 28in 300norma shooting the 225gr eldm. The barrel is fast, brass and powder are allowing for a very good load at approx 3100fps. I know it's not necessary, let's not debate that. The question on hand is whether or not the 225 will survive at that speed. I've personally seen the 230gr atip come apart at at far less speed, so I'm wary. I want the performance that the cartridge is capable of, and that bullet gives it at that speed. Has anyone run the 225 that fast for long?

Firearms WTS/WTT GAP Ridge to Ridge 6.5 PRC 20" Terminus, Bartlein CF, Manners LRH for AT-XC

Looking to trade for an AT-XC plus cash. Can't kick my AI addiction.
Terminus Apollo Lite action. Rifle shoots typical GAP sub 3/4 MOA...even with factory Hornady. Comes with Manners mini chassis and action is fully bedded. Has 200 rounds of Berger ammo through it. TBAC CB brake is perfectly timed without shims.

Bottom metal is Hawkins Hunter
Trigger was upgraded to a Trigger Tech Diamond 2-stage.
Bipod, scope rings and suppressor not included.

This rifle is an upgraded version of the GAP Ridge to Ridge rifle and has the 3/8 MOA guarantee...which it does with Berger ammunition. https://www.gaprecision.net/ridge-to-ridge-rifle.html

Would sell for $5500 shipped. Will consider partial trade like ZCO or Zeiss glass.

11lbs without suppressor. Just under 12lbs with suppressor and TBAC cover.

Ross Precision Machine (Paul Ross)

Outlook-t0inw4sr.png

Since 2006 when I returned Stateside from my first deployment I have been working with Compass Lake Engineering building some of the finest Barrels that I've ever had the privileged to own.

For the first few years I mostly dealt directly with Frank White, once I started ordering more one off specialty barrels Frank put me in touch with his head Barrel Smith Paul Ross.

For the first five years Paul cut his teeth under the instruction of Frank White and fast became the Head Barrel Smith behind the scene of CLE, which resulted in a well served 20-year Tenure with CLE.

CLE has since closed thier doors but Paul Ross continues to strive for perfection with his new Company ROSS PRECISION MACHINE.
Paul offers a Multitude of separate services other than Gas Gun Barrels under his new Company, He has since branched out to Custom Bolt Gun Services as well and to no surprise his quality of work always supersedes his customers expectations.

Below you'll see a multitude of Small and Large Frame Gas Rifles Photos, this is a very, very short list of Custom Barrels that Paul has turned for me producing True Sub Half MOA Gas Guns.

There have been countless Snipershide Members that I have either personally built custom uppers for or have put them in contact with Paul Ross who has used the same successfully designs that Paul and I have Achieved over the years and have all been extremely satisfied with the quality of his services, if you're one of those members please feel free to post your stories in here.

Every Barrel that I've designed or ordered from Paul has been 1/2 MOA or less, but when working with Paul it's much more than just receiving a quality product, his Custom Service is second to none and he never shies away from a challenge.

Weird Eley Match Lot#

Put a new CZ457 together with a Brux barrel and MDT chassis. Been going through different ammo to get a feel for what it liked. It seems to really like the Eley Match so I ordered 8 lots. All of them overall shot really good but found one lot that shot exceptionally well with a velocity range I liked with low SD’s.
So I ordered 3000 of said lot and when it comes in I go to shooting it. Shoots really well but here’s the odd part. It’s actually two different lots. The lot I tested and part of the lot I ordered match up perfectly. Average velocity of 1091fps and SD 4-5. The second lot within this lot has an average velocity of 1111fps with an SD of 6. So far I’ve tested 18 boxes and they two lots are about 50/50. You can test a box and the whole box will be one or the other with SD’s being right at what I posted above. I’ve been in the competitive 22 for a long time and I’ve seen a lot of things but never anything like this. Not going to be that big of a deal but will have to go through every box and chrono and mark that box as one or the either. 🤷

ACCURACY INTERNATIONAL AT LEFTY FOLDING STOCK DIY

Goal: Convert folding skins from non - thumbhole to thumbhole stock versions

Problem: Lefties are discriminated against, so very horribly

1. Although part numbers do exist for lefty folding thumbhole stocks, they’re rather rare.

2. Lefty folders have the spigot window cut rather sloppily, which is NOT the case with right - handed folders (discrimination!); see the pear - shaped spigot window below.

image001.jpeg

They USED TO plug the holes before drilling the spigot windows for lefties, see below. This is how my folding non - thumbhole lefty stock came from the factory. As you can see in the green thumbhole stock above, they now appear to be cutting corners.

IMG_2915.jpeg

3. All stocks are fixed by default, with a) plugs installed to cover up the appropriate sides and b) certain sections drilled through and cut off.

image004.jpeg

4. The best option that covers both right or left handed folders is to buy the fixed, non - folding thumbhole stock in the desired color.

5. Crazy glue the plug to the appropriate side and drill through using a step drill, thereby preventing the ugly pear - shaped hole. If one examines a regular right - handed folding thumbhole stock, it’s evident that this is what the factory does. Look at the plug that was affixed and melted through (?) below.

IMG_2917.jpeg

Pictured below is my lefty after gluing the plug in, and drilling the spigot window (the section blocking the hinge was also cut off, see 6.).

image002.jpeg

image003.jpeg

6. Use a hacksaw and cut off the scored “non - folding section” pictured in 3.

7. Finish off cut with sandpaper.

It’s actually quite easy to make the job appear “factory.”
