SOLD ***Sold***Microtech Ultratech LEO ($175 shipped)

I have a Microtech Ultratech LEO model with stonewashed, partial serrated Tanto blade in Elmax steel. The LEO model has the blue show scale and black back. Fires hard and blade is sharp. Carried a bit but not used to cut much. There are wear spots on the handle edges that are consistent with carry. See pics. Comes in box with paperwork.

Gunsmithing Barrel blank identification

I picked up several barrel blanks from an estate sale. Most were match barrels from years back, and most were Douglas. This one didn’t have any identification that I could see. Any chance someone recognized the maker? It’s a 26” stainless .308 barrel, 10 twist. I know it’s not much to go on, but somebody might know what it is.

Boretech action cleaning kit and controlled feed extractor

Does anyone use the boretech action cleaning tool kit who has a zermatt arms origin action? I'm wondering if the molded rubber wiper would break or damage the control feed extractor, especially when pulling it back out since the extractor will catch? Also what size brush do you use to clean your 6.5cm chamber? I really like the boretech idea of cleaning the raceway as well as the recessed lug area with the molded rubber wiper but don't want to spend 75 bucks when it won't work with the controlled feed extractor. Any chamber and lug area cleaning tips would be greatly appreciated. Hope you all had a good Christmas amd new years and got in some shooting.

Question for the B&T gurus.

So the time has come to SBR the APC9SD and I am pondering stocks. Well, not really. What I want to accomplish is to use a Gen 1 style butt plate. Taller with the mounting ears more centered in the plate. At some point B&T revised the plate to a much smaller and lower slung version but didn't update any pictures on pretty much any website you can find so it's a crap shoot whether you will get the Gen 1 or a newer version that doesn't really vibe with the gun. At this point an idea entered my head. What about an APC556/300/308 butt plate? They still rock the Gen 1 look and are actually available (and that is all I need. Already have the tele and buffer and it came with the rifle length stops). Seems workable but will it fit on the rails width wise? My heart says yes but I figured if someone had emperical data that would be awesome! What say y'all? Worst case the Haga Defense plate is a pretty decent clone but I would rather sstay B&T through and through. Petty, I know.

308 Identifying As 264 Creedmore

I got a box of Hornady 174gr ELD-VT. They are 1.427” long, at least the first 10 I pulled out of the box. If the rest are like that or close then Hornady should pat themselves on the back.

They look odd. The shank is pretty short, like on a 150gr bullet. The nose is loooooong. In my chamber, where a 175gr SMK hits the lands at 2.862”, the VT hits at 2.992”. My mag will accept 2.950” long rounds so I’ll be 40 thou off at least. At that COAL there is plenty of bullet shank in the neck, more than 75%, and the boat tail ends at the bottom of the shoulder inside the case. It will need a dense powder.

I pushed the bullet deeper in the case to see what the minimum seating depth could be and I think it’s 2.800”. At that COAL the beginning of the nose is in line with the case mouth. I don’t like how that looks, however. I think some of the bullet shank should be riding the freebore. But for those so inclined this round can be used in an auto loader.

I’m going to load these on top of my usual charge of AR-Comp and just play with the seating depth to start. I know. I know. You don’t have to say it. I’ll report back in a couple of days.
