Gay wedding

I just need to vent a little , I have a niece that's marrying a butch woman , got the invitation back in the summer , the weddings next week , I never responded to the rsvp , mostly because I don't condone same sex marriage, so my brother calls (he's the grandfather) and asked if I'm going ,I let him know my stance on the matter and I won't be attending , I'm a Christian and I know I shouldn't judge others lest I be judged , but I'm not going to celebrate something I consider a sin , and yes I'm a sinner too , but the difference is I'm ashamed of my sins I don't celebrate them , still can't believe we have a pride month, my mom who's 86 said she's not attending either so at least I won't be the only family member not going , I'm I being a prude for not caving in to this shit , it will probably ruin my relationship with her father who I am sorta a second father to , but I guess that's the price I have to pay for standing up for my beliefs, what say the hide .

What's your strategy for buying Ammo?

And by this question, I mean, "Are you concerned at all about the Feds being able to track your gun/ammo purchases via Credit/Debit card usage" (ie. those little merchant codes)? 2025 is, more than likely for me, going to be more of an "ammo" year than a gun year. I may get some accessories and/or parts, but mostly I'm looking at beefing up ammo inventory. And, while I'm pretty sure I can stay away from ammo sources in Kommiefornia (where they're doing all sorts of crazy "shiznit," - I don't like that because I can get some good deals from there), still, I wonder about federal efforts and whether or not the dealers/mfgrs. are getting pressure to use those codes. I'm not sure what the status of those fed based laws are at present. and I'm also not sure what will happen once Pres. Trump takes office. Will the Federal effort stop, or are they just going to do it any way even after being told it's "illegal/unconstitutional?" The Feds are notorious for that.

So how will you get your ammo in 2025? Of course, the safest way would be to go to a local store and buy it, paying cash. But that's kinda hard to do given how much those merchants mark up ammo, as well as having boxes of 1000 rounds available for sale to one specific buyer. And one loses out on all the ammo deals available "on-line" (which I track via AmmoSeek.com every week for the calibers that interest me).

Are you guys going to wait and see what happens with Trump, or just go ahead and get what you need when you need it, not caring about how the sales are being tracked)? I wish there were ways we could get around those codes, but I don't know if that's possible. I'd imagine the feds would be on to any "trickery" a merchant attempts to disguise ammo/gun sales under a different merchant name or the like. And some merchants just don't care. They'll do it "in defiance" of the feds and expect you to go along for the ride. Can't go with them... Sorry.

What say you, then? What's your strategy for buying ammo (and guns) in 2025 and avoid being tracked?

Short .223 Bolt Gun & N133

I've been searching pretty hard to see if there is load data out there for N133 & 75 ELD's (and 62 ELD-VT's) and for whatever I have not been able to find any. I know the 62 ELD-VT is a pretty new bullet but the 75's have been around for awhile. I have not been able to get my hands on 8208 or 4895. Ramshot Tac yielded some pretty huge spreads (ES's around 100 & SD's in the 40's) in Velocity but decent groups (around 1 MOA). I was able to get my hands on some VV N133 and tried to use some data I found with Benchmark powder to get started.

I will preface this with the fact that I am running an 18" - 7 Twist Proof Barrel chambered for the 75 ELD to be about .020 off the lands at 2.550 COAL.

I shot the 62 ELD-VT at a COAL of 2.517 (seated so the Boat-Tail sits at the Neck-Shoulder Junction)

5 Shot Groups

22.0 Gr. N133 AVG. Vel. - 2750 FPS (No Pressure)
22.5 Gr. " " - 2805 FPS (No Pressure)
23.0 Gr. " " - 2870 FPS (No Pressure)

None of these Yielded anything great, 22.5 gave me just inside a 1 MOA group. I chalked that up to possibly be jumping them way too far on account of my chamber being cut for the 75's.

The 75's yielded me some better results.

75 ELDM - COAL of 2.550 - 10 Round Groups

21.8 Gr. N133 AVG. Vel. - 2650 FPS (No Pressure)
22.0 " " - 2670 FPS (No Pressure)
22.2 " " - 2700 FPS (No Pressure - Best Group 3/4 MOA or better)
22.4 " " - 2730 FPS (No Pressure)

I am going to turn up the charge with the 75 ELD's to see where I find pressure and will update once I do.

All groups shot with N133 gave me what I consider to be acceptable SD's considering this cartridge and the purpose of the rifle.

If anyone has an experience with N133 and 75 ELDS in a Bolt Rifle any information would be appreciated.

AEM5K - anyone have one yet?

Not clone correct but has anyone gotten their hands on the AEM5K yet? I think it might fit the RECCE a little better. Would be 2” shorter with the K can. I kicked around doing the AEM2 or 3 for the RECCe build but I didn’t want another 14.5” so I kept the 2.5” spacing. This can seems to fill the niche I was looking for.

Curious how it performs. I expect a little louder but with less baffles, I wonder how gassy it is compared to the full size can and what the time is like.

Suppressors YHM Resonator K 30

Does anyone here own one of these that can share their likes or dislikes with this suppressor? Repeatable poi shift with the factory QD mount?

I have and am happy with my SF Socom 2 Mini. It does everything I need it to do. I need another 308 can that will run on a 16” MWS, 18” rifle gas 6.5 Grendel, and 16” 556 middy but Im being cheap and looking at the YHM Resonator K. Size and low back pressure are the main criteria. If you look at the Pew Science back pressure chart, the Resonator compares well to the SF Mini and even outperforms the Huxworks Flow Ti on back pressure.

223/5.56 battle loads 14.5” gun

Seems to be a lot of info on a lot of loads. But I would like to discuss the dichotomy of trying to find a balance between despersion, velocity, bullet drop & terminal performance with heavy for cal bullets out of a 14.5” 1:7 barrel. I don’t think load data for longer or even shorter barrels is directly applicable. My goal is to find a load that has no more than 2moa groupings @ 100 out of MY rifle. Has decent velocity & can carry itself out a ways. Consistent hits at 500ish. I’m looking at projectiles with a cantalure only. I’ve been loading Hornady 75gr BTHP but am open to a lighter bullet. Maybe a 68 or a 62. My 75’s like to go slow in order to group at 100. Like 2315 slow. I have pushed them faster into 5.56 pressures, but dispersion is unacceptable at the higher pressures. drop is substantial. My current load uses 23gr of CFE 223 with the 75’s following all the factory trim, & OAL specs. CCI 450 primers crimped.

New from Idaho

New member from Idaho. Appreciate the content that I’ve been able to learn from in my quest to start this long range shooting adventure to sharpen my skills with hunting and starting PRS and NRL competitions. I did one enlistment in the Marines Corps back in the late 90’s and just wanted to introduce myself. Thanks for the site and the platform to learn.
