The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Jacob and Frank Back to Rifles Only for the Cup

In 2025 we are going back to Rifles Only for the final Sniper's Hide Cup. Yes you heard that right, Nov 8th 2025, just before the USMC Birthday we ending the Sniper Hide Cup.

Always great to talk to Jacob, we have a lot of fun discussing stuff.

This podcast is a bit all over the place, my fault, I messed up my computer big time trying to do this simulcast thing so when I logged in to do this podcast, nothing worked and I needed Jacob's audio. I'm a mess...

But Merry Christmas everyone, hope you have a great holiday. Hope you season ended strong.

Side Mounted WMLRF

Hello everyone. Brand new to WMLRF,
I’m looking at the vortex and new tango wmlrf’s and am just curious why I don’t see them side mounted anywhere. I run a Seeking SP10M in 6.5 and Seekins told me the rail is rigid enough for it, also contacted vortex about zeroing the system from a side mount. They said it was no problem as long as the rail was stiff enough.

I love running a 12 oclock red dot over my optic (March 4.5-28). So in theory, if I zeroed the red dot at 100 yards and the wmlrf, i would never have to dial back to zero between shots before ranging. Could simply put my red dot on target and tap my range button. Am I missing something. Please educate me.

SOLD ARC Nucleus .308 WIN barrel

PVA Osprey barrel for ARC Nucleus. I believe this would also headspace on an Archimedes or Mausingfield but I would need to verify that to be certain. Barrel is 18” and chambered in .308 Winchester. M24 contour, 1:9 twist, and 5/8x24 muzzle threads. 375 total rounds recorded.

I would also entertain selling as a barreled action with a gen1 Nucleus for additional funds.

$425 shipped for barrel

SOLD ATN X-Sight 4k 3-14x

I have an ATN X-Sight 4k 3-14x digital rifle scope for sale.

$450

Scope is in fantastic, like new, condition. No scratches, no blemishes, glass and readout is bright and clear, all sensors work 100%.

This scope is essentially a digital video camera with a reticle. It does have a night vision mode that works well with the illuminator.

I bought this scope when my son was learning to shoot & hunt because you can stream the live video to your phone and see where they are aiming/shooting to ensure good shot placement. Worked great! Hes bigger now and doenst need that input so the scope has sat on the shelf for 2+ years.

Comes with all the factory accesories and attachment, factory rings, IR illuminator, etc.. I have the box and all the original paperwork for which will be included with the scope. Also comes already mounted in SWFA high picatinny rings and will drop right onto an AR straight outta the box.

Please excuse the poor photo through the scope. My phone did not want to focus and kept making weird colors that werent there. Actual image though the scope is clear and crisp.

Primer pressure vs neck tension

There’s been quite a few discussion about neck tension, neck lube, and some discussion on primer weight sorting too and SD
I have no answers but just questions for the experts here.

Do you suppose that there is a good relationship between getting good SD and neck tension/lube has to do with whether a primer by itself causes enough pressure to dislodge the bullet from the case and enter the rifling? Or by how deep it enters?

Suppose a primer does not always dislodge bullet from the case depending on neck tension, neck crimp, and neck lube. So a lighter hold on the bullet from the neck would result is more likely to dislodge bullet with just the primer, and a stronger neck hold results in more unlikely to dislodge. Then wouldn’t it be a good assumption that a middle strength hold on the neck results in inconsistency in dislodging?

Wouldn’t this inconsistency cause the SD to be higher due to different combustion characteristics?

Then all this discussion around SD in relation to neck tension, lube, crimp, primer weights etc really are trying to find a combo that creates a consistent release?

If so, would a consistent strong neck grip that is stronger than the primer alone can dislodge be about as good as one that consistently allows the release? Or would one be preferable to another? Why?

7 IVPOs compared out to 600yds

You get to see some great examples of how reticles, parallax, Side Focus, and glass clarity come into play in this video. It’s an extension of his other video that compared 36 different scopes. He calls them IPVOs.

Notice how some thick lines get in the way when using the tree for drop.

Accessories Used MDT CKYE-POD GEN2 SINGLE PULL STANDARD - BIPOD w/ BTC head

Lightly used MDT CKYE-POD GEN2 SINGLE PULL STANDARD - BIPOD w/ BTC head. This is the head that works with both picatinny and ARCA.

I used this for two photoshoots, it has some very minor wear on the "holes" where the adjustments are and a bit of wear on the spikes. 100% functional.

Let me know if you need anymore photos.

$450 shipped. SOLD
