Vector X “ generate range card “

The possibility to generate the range card works only with only the primary muzzle velocity, if you add different data, for example different temperature and related different muzzle velocity the app doesn’t transfer it to the Vector and the range card is completely wrong.
Also if the muzzle velocity is in m/s the possibility to insert data related to different temperatures is only in fps.
Have you experienced same issue ?

1911 carriers step inside...

It's 2025 and the patent date issued to the original 1911 was 14 FEB 1911 so we're now officially 114 years 'into the future' yet there's those of us that still love the 1911 and also carry it and figured it's worth asking the question as to why ya do & what type of 1911 you settled on.

Generally speaking, the options available in the past century settle into either full-size (5"/Government), 'Commander' sized (traditionally 4.25" barrel, a few 4" barrels, but retaining the same frame size), 'Officer' sized which has... what 3.5-3" barrel & a smaller frame, and Conceal Carry Officer (CCO) which mates the Commander (aka 'longer) slide with the Officer (aka 'small') frame.

Calibers have been various- 45 ACP of course, 38 Super, 10mm, and also 9mm. Over the years there's also been some variance with the frames in a standard/'combat' frame (aka 'steel') and "lightweight" (aka aluminum/alloy). There's also long/medium/short triggers and flat/wedge/arched mainsprings. Don't forget the flat butt, round butt, or bobtail options. It's the 'lego' of pistols before a name ever was given to it.

So 114 years and that's just scratching the surface- the question though is, for those that still carry a 1911, what configuration and why?

To start it off-

I've never been able to make the standard/government size work (regardless of caliber) for carry. It's just either too big (size wise) and/or too heavy (speaking to both standard & lightweight frames). Commander sized- I'm staring to have good luck with (even though it's only .75" shorter barrel) but the standard frame is still a factor to work around and adding a magwell further complicates concealment purposes. The officer size is actually rather sweet and addresses the previous problems, an even shorter barrel & frame BUT it's been my experience that one needs to be a bit more discerning on what particular model they select to balance out the reliability aspect.

I think that's why I started playing in the "intermediate" world of carry 1911's- Commanders (with bobtails)/ Officers (with bull barrels & flat recoil springs)/ CCO's, etc-. As a quick summary- after lots of 'back & forth' with EDC options I still go back to bobtail commanders & reliable officer sized 1911's (although I'm trying to formulate an option of the CCO configuration and so far I'm really liking it but haven't decided on the "balance" aspect just yet).

Everything else- well I still haven't figured it out. Arched/flat mainspring- I seem to shoot 'em both equally. Short/Med/Long trigger- I tend to lean towards long triggers but I'm just now playing with the shorter options.

Calibers... I tend to stick to the classics and gravitate to 45's in my 1911's. I like 10mm plenty in that style and have been warming up to 38 Super but... the most popular caliber these days seems to be 9mm and I'm frankly just not there yet. I've got nothing against 9mm but just not in my 1911's just yet (reckon I'm still biased over the decades of challenges to get 9mm to feed properly as a shorter cartridge in 1911's as compared to 45/10mm/38super)

Spotters Budget Spotter comparison. Has anyone compared the Athlon Cronus G2 wth the Viper GenII 20-60X?

Has anyone compared these 2 spotters side by side? Looking for a budget type unit, don't want to spend Swaro or Kowa money. I had a Viper, Razor, and Leupold Santiam side by side, and to be honest the Viper was 95% of the Razor for half the cost, and I was not impressed with the Leupold at all. I have not been able to look through the Cronus, or Ares, so thought I would ask.

PRS Talk Accutac FD-4 Cant tension

Afterw a few matches, Im realizing how important it is to have the ability to cant your rifle for long range stages. My Accutac FD-4 is amazing, but when I try and leave just enough tension so that I can get level, it starts “self” loosening to the point of my rifle flopping about. The only two options are either cant locked out or completely loose. There has to be a way to get the tension to stay put on this thing. Anyone know of a solution out face this issue?

"Over Gassed" AR's Fact or Fiction? Other Perspectives

I see a lot of postings suggesting AR failure to feed malfunctions may be because their rifle is "Over Gassed" and I really have to question this. For backdrop, I have built up and test fired in excess of 500 AR-15's, many of them with custom or wildcat cartridges, and with a myriad of barrel lengths, gas system lengths, etc., where there was no recognized or normally accepted port sizing (had to figure it out).

One of the main arguments of the failure to feed malfunction as relates to "Over Gassing" is that the bolt carrier and bolt speed is too fast.

I have yet to see "Over Gassing" as a source of a failure to feed malfunction to be a real issue for a few reasons:

1. The speed of the carrier and bolt coming forward to feed a round is almost 100% governed by the stiffness of the buffer spring and the weight of the buffer.
2. If a rifle is "Over Gassed", that may speed up the retreat of the carrier and the unlocking of the bolt out of battery, but it does not per se speed up the carrier and bolt coming forward (i.e. the buffer typically hits the back of the buffer tube and the dead plastic end of the buffer softens that strike so it's not metal to metal, but it's not a trampoline effect, nor was an AR buffer system designed to do that).
3. An AR gas system is set up to bleed off all gas immediately after the bolt opens out of battery (i.e. it blows out the vent holes in the side of the carrier) so it's not like the system holds onto excess pressure to somehow convert that into carrier or bolt speed coming forward.

I am also not a big fan of adjustable gas blocks and I have seen plenty of issues with them (taken a bunch of them off customer guns a returned them because they were a source of a problem that did no exist). First off, an adjustable gas block is of no value at all unless the rifle is over ported. All an adjustable gas block can do is cut back the amount of gas being delivered into the gas system from the port, it can never add more than can come through the port. It may have some value for someone that wants to run something like a 300 BO where they want to shoot subsonic "heavies" with a real fast powder through a can to run very quiet (ergo they have a very large port to do that), but then wants to shoot supersonic and push bullets to the max where chamber pressures are running double what they are with a subsonic loading. Even then, what I typically see is an AR cycling back hard and ejecting aggressively but that's about it.

I have probably "opened a can of worms" here with this discussion but there are other perspectives on the issue involved.

Which rifle for DMR class

I’m hoping to attend my first DMR class in the coming months. I’ve had training in my prior LE career, but there was a hard line… no engagement outside of 100 yards.. so basically useless. I have several nice systems, but it appears than DMR = semi auto. Looks like most classes top out at 600-700 yards.
The first two that came to mind are my recently built 6.5 Grendel’s.
18” with NightForce NX8 2.5-20x with Geissele SDE
13.9” with Steiner T6XI 2.5-15x with Geissele SDE
Both are using Craddock RTR barrels. The 18” was sub MOA with Precision Firearms 120 Scenar L right from the start. Havent shot the 13.9” yet but will be starting load development for both shortly.
I then forgot that I also have a 16” SCAR barrel with KNS DiSCARder and KDG rail in addition to the 13” that’s stays on it. The 13” has a Trijicon Credo 1-8. I have no optic for the 16” barrel. All load development has been for 125 Controlled Chaos from the 13” barrel so I’d need to load some 169SMKs and see how they do. The SCAR has a Geissele Super Scar trigger.
Which system would you go with? If the 16” SCAR, what optic? I prefer NightForce, Steiner, and Trijicon.
I’ll pick up a Kestrel and probably the Leica laser rangefinder.

Thoughts from those with experience is greatly appreciated.
