New to the 300 PRC and looking for some input on powder / bullet combinations.

First of all, got a 20in short barrel. Purpose is mostly hunting. I was planning on using N570, keep it simple - have that here for the 375 cheytac anyway. Will be shot supressed.

My thought process so far is to go with bullets on the heavier side, ordered some 220gr ELDX for the slower burn rate of the powder. Have some 178gr ELDX here but not sure I even want to bother developing a load for those.

Maybe someone here has experience with a short barrel or even with 20in and N570 that you are willing to share? Thanks in advance!

Building a DMR 6.5 Grendel for run n guns, and PRS. I picked up a 22” JP barrel from the px.

I’m looking for a lighter weight handguard to pair with it since the barrel is 3.2lbs. Odin works O2 is pretty high on my light but I’m not sure about the barrel nut.

I have a new ruger precision 22... I know some shoot and some are so so... but Ive got around 100-150 on it now, cleaned it when I got it and once more after 100...

It will shoot cci sv in a very small hole at 50 yards, and then it wont... and then it will, then itll be so so.. then bad, then good... So it can shoot, but not consistently. I even tried the foil tape bedding crap, didnt really help anything.

Should I be looking at a new barrel to gain the consistency? Or should I run a few hundred down it first?

I am from the Panhandle region of Texas and have recently gotten into longer distance shooting. I've been very into shooting for several years now but only recently have I started trying to make shots beyond 300 yards or so. Until now, it has mostly been plinking at the range or night shoots under night vision with friends.

With my new job, I now have access to a range that goes all the way out to 1600 yards so I can finally get into some real long distance shooting! A couple of my coworkers are also very into PRS style shooting and I have the itch now.

For now I'm making do with my 5.56 AR build as I continue to learn and refine my skills. I plan on purchasing my first true long range setup soon, though! I'm really just deciding on an optic at this point - 5-25 Mk5 HD, 4-32 NX8, or go all out and get the 7-35 ATACR. I've been very, very happy with my 1-8 NX8 so I'm currently leaning toward the 4-32 NX8 most but might spring for a Mk5 if I find a solid deal.

I borescoped it and there is no wear to the throat. I would guess there were VERY few rounds fired out of this.

The barrel is slightly ugly under the gas block from someone not loosening one of the screws before removal. Doesn't affect function and it's covered by the gas block so you won't see it.
