Accessories Danner Combat Hiker 10 R $120 shipped

These are a 10 R but they fit just a bit narrow for me I think..I am still deciding but have not worn outside yet. They come in wide and regular from what I can see but and I have tried danner wide and they are too WIDE on me. I cannot wear KEEN either for example. Would be great for steep hiking. Made in USA Danner. They are killer boots and I believe these are long discontinued like most things made in the US. See pics $120 shipped

Something you don't see everyday

Stopped by,... JACKS,... a southern burger chain, while out this am.
While eating & scanning the place I see the cleaning lady approx 80yo, drop a complete package of cup lids which broke open & they all went rolling everywhere. They no more than hit the floor and two young boys approx 8&10 yo eating with their parents jumped up, and was picking them up before the cleaning lady even was able to bend over. Needless to say, the place erupted for that family. Maybe there is hope.

Portable reloading & gunsmithing bench

Needed a compact, mobile weapon system and reloading work bench. This is my setup. Made it with some scrap wood, so only cost about $20 sans the tools on the bench themselves. Spar urethane finish. Black walnut, birch, blood wood, zebra wood, African mahogany, cherry, wenge, padauk, teak, and ebony.

Rifle Competition Events January 2026 Mammoth Pre-Action Report

New guy here, so bear with me. There has been a lot of useful material posted in here, so I thought I would try to return the favor in some measure. Candidly, I’m more experienced than most at rucking and living in the field. By November, will have spent over 150 nights living out of my ruck this year. Less experienced than many with the shooting. Did “precision” shooting in LE and other shooting in combat arms, but nothing to write home about. LE sniper was really just shooting small targets at pretty close range under pressure. For those of you unfamiliar, it’s not as hardcore as it can be made to sound. For those who are familiar…well, you know.

First time competition (of any kind). January 2026 Mammoth. No sponsors. Thought I would toss out a “PAR” and follow up with an AAR. This has as much potential to be about what not to do/use as it does what to do. Critique is fine. I have thick skin.

Guns and gear are made up of what I already have and use. WMLRF would be great, but can’t swing the cost.

Position: Secondary (Primary is shooting 6mm)
Weapons:
DT A2 in .308 with 16” barrel, two five round magazines, MPA one piece mount, Arca rail, and DD LTI suppressor (It’s what I have. Prefer the 300NM barrel for her, but not allowed at Mammoth)
P365 (I built) Fuse-ish with 4.9” barrel and Holosun. It’s a basic-bitch gun. Maybe bringing a suppressor for it, but probably not. Has both 21 and 17 round magazines.
Ammo:
Maybe staying with factory FGMM, but will load up some Bergers if I have time
Federal match 9mm synthetic.
Glass:
NF NX8
Tripod(s): (All Spartan. Not bringing bipod.)
Springbok tripod head, lightweight tripod head (“Hoplite”)
1 set carbon legs short, 1 set carbon legs long (the latter also work for hammock suspension, trekking, and tarp tent)

Pack & Tent:
Warbonnet enclosure tarp with some custom dyneema rigging for use as tent with tripod legs
Warbonnet suspension hammock (I use on ground as well as hanging. Sleeping pad goes in its sleeve.)
Sleeping Bag and pad…haven’t decided yet. Will play some more in the mountains this fall with my setups. These are two items I’m not opposed to upgrading or changing (e.g., I have never used a quilt system.)
Bivy/Rain jacket/drag bag/backup shelter: Outdoor Research Wallcreeper (one of my favorite pieces of kit ever)

Exo Mountain Gear 7200 pack (won’t be very full, but way better design than the Dana Designs/Mystery Ranch I used on heavy carries for many years. Also quieter, more liveable, and better for stowing rifle or bow than my custom Alice setup.)
Lightweight Velcro belt and an outer molle belt (old version of “Misty Mountain Operator Belt”) with pistol, basic Alien holster, and dump bags. In warm to cool weather, I can (and sometimes do) carry rifle and this belt and pack everything I need to hunt and live in the woods. Not ultra light, but makes up for it in being tough and ultra useful.

Packed Clothes: (their stuff sack is also shooting bag and pillow)
4 pair socks
3 pairs Ranger panties
1 pair pants
1 light and 1 mid layer shirt
Eberlestock insulated pants
Mid and outer layer jackets

Other:
Kestrel
Razor HD 4000
Mystery Ranch pack rain cover
Notepad & pen
Maybe a phone
Clip on thermal? No idea if I might need it. Long nights and short days in January and don’t know if there is low light or dark shooting.
1 pair gloves, 1 pair mittens
Weapon & optic tool kit (my own setup, and I don’t go anywhere with rifle without it)
Baby powder & wet wipes

Food:
All cold and dry. Chia seeds, instant coffee, homemade fruit leather and jerky. Maybe some peanut butter. Not for everyone, but not my first rodeo on that front.

Ruck training:
Started with 5 mile runs, some with 70lb pack and some without pack. Rucking is my jam, but my body has banked some years and injuries. Never slower than 13 1/2 min/mile pace with or without pack. Curious what approximate longest movement is at Mammoth.

Shooting:
Primary focus is on odd and uncomfortable while under physical stress. That’s the reason I wanted to participate in Mammoth.

If it makes sense, I’ll add before Mammoth. Regardless, I’ll follow up with an AAR and whatever success or failure occurred.

Its slowly ramping up everywhere.

Just like the left & NWO wants, and they will blame it on trump. He just needs to issue get out of jail free cards,... and it all would stop over night. This is another case of people being restrained by the law,...for if heads started exploding and people started leaking all over the ground, bet those,.... people,.... would rethink their actions going forward.

Walmart mass-stabbing

Suspect in custody but not identified?

FBI involved… why is the FBI involved in a local incident?

Hummmm… maybe it has something to do with who’s doing the stabbing!

You know… what is being reported as a “random incident.”

Those random mass-stabbing incidents that have been going on for years in Germany, France and Sweden, etc. also all have one unsurprisingly un-random element at their center…. What could that be….??

Could it be….

Nah…. They are the religion of peace!!

Nothing to see here… move along.

Long Action feeding Short Cartridges (AICS)

My intent is to use my Terminus Zeus Long Action (QC) with various barrels in order to shoot both short action and long action cartridges (.308, 6.5CM, and .300PRC). This would enable me to save money by using only 1x action and 1x scope, and having the ability to freely change the chassis/barrel combination between a heavy range configuration (MPA chassis + steel .308 barrel) and a lightweight hunting configuration (MDT26 chassis + carbon fiber .300PRC barrel). I know that we have precedent in the military for LA systems running short cartridges (M24), and ideally it would be similar to our Mk 22/MRAD running .300Norma or .308 just by making use of the proper magazines to ensure reliable feeding… I just need help understanding how to best do this on my personal gun making use of AICS compatible folding chassis systems (I prefer these over stocks).

I’m looking for feedback from everyone on:
(1) descriptive feedback from any shooters who have tried theAccurate Mag AICS .308 LA Magazinewith short action rounds (ie whether I will encounter reliable feeding without issue).

(2) any recommendations for which AICS magazines or mag kits I should acquire in order to reliably feed short action cartridges like .308 into a Long Action (Zues) within a modern chassis system (MDT HNT26 + MPA ESR) if the aforementioned Accurate Mags are not ideal.

Amplifying Information:
**I have seen the Barbour Creek videos with James running Hawkins Precision 30-06 magazines to reliably feed short-action 6.5CM into a long action Terminus Zues… but the employees at both Barbour and Hawkins have communicated on the phone that this is only compatible via a stock with bottom metal using the m5 inlet, and my intent is to use chassis rather than stocks (specifically, MPA ESR and MDT HUNT26). MDT said that I would need AICS compatible 3.850 CIP magazines.

**I have read through the forums for months and encountered conflicting information and mixed word on whether or not the Accurate Mag listed above are a reliable, malfunction-free solution… “Islas82” seemingly communicated Initial Success with these accurate mags beginning 29NOV2024, but then Likely Failure due to feeding issues on 02FEB2025.. supposedly even “ rlsmith1 “ had used these accurate mags for short actions into a Long Action as well… if anyone can provide additional updates or new information, I would appreciate it. I would like to hear if anyone has experience with running .308 thru the LA Accurate Mags into the LA Terminus Zues.

*** I saw the thread on magazines being made with a spacer linked by Tyler Kemp, but it seemed unresolved to me and currently unviable for my use case (.308 capability in my Zues LA which has a lightweight .300PRC MDT26 configuration and heavy MPA .308 set up). Please advise if there is another currently viable, well known magazine option for short calibers in long actions… specific to AICS compatibility.

**** Some additional consulted resources so that others know I’ve done extensive research before posting this thread: Thread 1 / Thread 2

Couldn’t find a way to DM/PM some of those individuals, so hope that posting this casts a larger net for potential sources of information with applicable insight/experience. Thank you for your time.

A new rifle is born… other than a QC fail

One of my buddies that hunts at our place caught the bug after borrowing some of our gear and decided to build a proper rifle. He went with a Craddock Precision 18” 22 ARC RTR for the heart of the rifle, an Odin Works upper/lower, Smoke Composites furniture, Geisselle 2 stage, and one of the KAK dual ejector down firing sand cutting bolts. I’m excited to see what it can do.

Craddock Precision put together a beautiful upper as always. Barrel looks great in and out. Smoke Furniture is perfect on the fit and finish. Looking forward to seeing/hearing that KAK bolt in action - I’m curious to see if it is a noticeable difference at the ear with a can on it.

Somewhat disappointed with the Odin Works receivers. First, it’s a rattle trap of a matched set. The lower measures .5025” at the front and rear vs .500” or less for Noveske, SOLGW et al. This was brought to their attention as they responded to a query before purchase that they maintained “tight tolerances”. They responded that they made them to be compatible with other uppers and lowers 😕. Apparently by maintaining tight tolerances what they meant was their intentional preferred gaping wide hole tolerances in case someone tries to mate up wildly out of spec crap. They said to snug up the set screw that interfaces with the rear pin. I personally find that insulting but luckily it isn’t my gun. I look forward to doing some real accuracy testing with my friend. I hope it drives tacks and is proven an academic concern.

But, to add insult to injury, we couldn’t finish building because they didn’t QC the f’n tiny screws for the ambi bolt catch unless someone can explain what I’m missing - see attached photo. One accepts a 1/16” hex, the other is very shallow and I can’t find a tools to drive it. Looks like they skipped a machining step. If anyone has an explanation as to what I’m missing, I’ll award you valuable bonus points.

Should have gone Noveske or SOLGW for the receiver set. Live and learn. Annoying to not be able to get it to 100%. I’m sure they will send out more screws but wtf at that price point.

One way or another, it’s coming in under 6lbs naked with a rifle buffer. Should kill many deer, pigs and yotes in time.

Grand opening, hallway 10meter indoor range.

So my spotter, who is also my room mate and (bed hog) & I have not had a call out, neither Federal nor criminal, in a while.

And you know how it is to have the itch.

And rifleman such as yall's know the imperative need for frequent rimfire therapy.

Seeing as how the vehicle is down/getting a new tranny, (no wheels at the moment) and it's 181* outside @ 214% humidity, we held a quick meeting.

We unanimously voted 2-0 to open & launch the "Hallway Indoor Shooting Range," in our condo, here in the 'plex!

The trusty tape measure witnessed we could get a range of a full 10 meters, ha! Classic indoor air rifle, off hand, competition range.

So out in the garage an old ugly worn pine 4x4 post has been floating around. We cut it up and screwed the pieces together to make a 1 ft. x 1 ft. x 1 ft. Cube back stop. Tally-ho!

I had my eyes and ears, but dip-wad of course couldn't find his ear-pro. We improvised.

I keep telling him if I ever find a better spotter that's available, I'm done with his jerk self.

I mean it's like at my every stinking shot he's got some rash of crap for me:

"don't let that miss rattle you, this next shot, if you'll, like, use an eyeball or something, and actually look through the scope maybe, this next shot will be better, surely- I can feel it in my tail."

Or something like:

"ok, that last shot, surely you were randomly experimenting with using your thumb to pull the trigger. Yeah, don't ever do that ever again not even once. You're embarrassing us."

And that one time he exclaimed "hurry, hand me the radio! I'll call down to the pitts and tell them you got in a hurry on that one and chambered the round backwards, = flyer city. "

Total prick. But I cant find a better team mate.

Tonight I just kept saying "shut up mother Hubbard and just call the correction."

(And what's with the peeing anywhere/everywhere at the ranges?)

Such has been our relationship the last 2 years.

Anyway- I drug out the super cool Rascal

An an old box of CCI SUB-SONIC that had a bit of black mold inside the box and white lead salts on the projo's.

We set up a bench to first see if the ammo was actually able to put shots touching at our formal 10meters, before He & I duel'd it out, off hand.

Happy to report that crappy ammo and the Super Rascal would make bug holes despite the powdered out white lead salts and all. Some of the bullets looked like old, dug up Civil War slugs, lol.

After bench testing the world's worst rimfire ammo in Condo Hallway Range of The 'Plex, I was about to put away the bench rest set up- when my spotter, his name is Sgian-Dubh- made the fatal mistake.

He said "if you ever tell any one what I was using for ear-pro just now, Im ripping your throat out in your sleep."

Well, Im THAT GUY. Tell me what I had better not do, or threaten me, or dare me, and something in me MUST then do it. Even if I know I'll quadruple highly regret it later. So I snapped a Pic. Ha!
Smart mouth, captain comedy spotter man.

And I won the 10m offhand competition too. Ha!
Mr. Mouthy, a sore loser claims I have an unfair advantage: opposing thumbs.

Whatever, Mother Hubbard.

He said "it's called off *HAND,* idiot."

Boo-hoo, Mother Hubbard.

Big fun all around with me and my spotter.

Round 2, tomorrow!
