Trouble shooting - Impact 737 - MDT HNT26 - AW Magazines

I recently decided to try out AW mags, as I’ve always used standard "long" mags in the past.

These mags are brand new, with no tuning done yet.

The issue I’m encountering is that about every 10 rounds or so, the bolt skips over a round.

When I look through the rear of the rifle, the round sits too low in the action compared to my experience with single-feed mags.

MDT does offer different length mag catches for the HNT 26, but there’s not much room to push the AW mag further into the action.

I’m thinking the solution might be to remove some material from the mags and install a latch that will allow the mag to sit deeper in the action.

Does anyone have any other suggestions before I go back to using standard AI mags?

I want to take my hand loading up a notch, help me pick a new press please.

I got into hand loading loading .45acp, 9x19 and 5.56x45. Just making decent but plinking ammo, long story short I went for mostly LEE products and grabbed one of their Challenger presses which was a new thing at the time I believe that had the locking bushing to quick swap dies so I didn’t have to redo setup every time I changed a die….

Was still annoying and I hate single stage for doing a lot of ammo, BUT that press was good enough to get me going, learn and make some ammo.

Now I have shifted focus less on volume (thank goodness as that was the wrong tool for that job) and more on precision.

I have my doubts with the bushing system of that press…. And so I’m wondering where to start looking to make match quality top shelf ammunition. I have a set of Lyman .308 dies i inherited, I recently bought a .308 bolt action that’s heavily focused on long range accuracy.

Would I be wasting my time with that press? And if so, what’s an upper end of the bell curve value press that’s not going to break my wallet but I can rely on? I don’t have Dillon compound press money….and since this will be low volume, I’m absolutely more focused on accuracy and repeatability, so single stage is what I’m after here.

SOLD Accuracy International AT ACIS chassis (short action)

This is an AT-style AICS for short action rifles with Remington 700 footprint. Condition excellent. It has been previous bedded and I carefully removed bedding material. Surface anodizing color was partially scratched off but the recoil lug contract area is not affected. It's purely cosmetic.

$875 shipped to CONUS. Insurance extra if desired.

Scope Question 50 BMG

I picked up a Barrett and need to stick some glass on it. I will be shooting it suppressed.

My question:

Regardless of brand etc, I can't decide if I should go 5-25 or 7-35 on power. I've shot lots of rounds suppressed in other large calibers 1000+ yards, in most cases after a couple rounds the mirage makes using anything past 20x difficult.

I want the 7-35, but in my heart feel that the 5-25 is the correct answer. Looking for information to nudge me one way or another.

Thanks

7-08 vs 7 SAW vs 7CM vs ? for Large Frame

Not looking to build this soon, but want to see what my options are:

Looking to use 130-150gr bullets, not strictly a target / paper puncher. Would prefer ability to use whatever poly and metal large frame mags (shorter COAL). 20" barrel. Will probably want a 0.75" gas block to keep weight reasonable if carrying.

Precision:
Before I figure anything else out, I want to see if platform will be "precise enough" - assuming build / parts are good and I can shoot a (precision large frame) gas gun properly, what size groups can I realistically expect from Tipped GameKings, Hornady Interlock, and various Speer offerings in this weight range? Am I realistically looking at < ~2-3 MOA 10 shot groups?
150gr SMK for target shooting - can I still realistically expect ~1-1.5 MOA 10 shot groups?

Feeding / reliability:
Most importantly - Does case geometry of any particular cartridge in this class allow for inherently better feeding?
Is one going to be easier to sort out with the gas system, buffer, spring rate / length, bolt carrier, etc.

Brass:
I see 7mm-08 brass is usually commercially available. How time consuming is it to form 7mm-08 brass from 308 if I really need to?
I see that WTO says that 7 SAW can be formed from 308 with just a full length resize (i.e. 1 step) - looks like it's just necking down and pushing the shoulder down a bit and to 30 deg from 308. Anyone experience otherwise?
7cm hasn't been standardized, but are most chambers cut for 6.5cm brass that has had a 7mm mandrel run through it (maybe with the neck shoulder junction back a tiny bit?)

Velocity and powders:
Looks like these have similar velocities. WTO states that 6.5x47L powders work well for 7 SAW. Is one easier to load for overall? Is one going to be very compressed with a popular powder and polymer mags?

Anyone have the details on the event that triggered the CZ600 recall?

So far all I know is one person was injured…. Recall so far as I know is just thread locker and epoxy on the bolts that lock on the barrel. Due to that I suspected the person who was injured had messed with the barrel installation and messed up head space or failed to torque the bolts to spec. Anyone know the details though?

Firearms Browning 725 unsingle

Browning 725 Unsingle, Graco recoil system and cheek riser. This was bought for my son. Wanted to give him a backup or a gun for Handicaps. We set it up for him he has shot about a 100 rounds through it. It’s just not for him he says. I’ve got 4,200 into it case and all. I’d gladly let it go for 3,900.
