So I took some forum advice and send off my ancient SDN-6 suppressor to be re-made into a more modern Ranger 7 and I'm going direct thread. I have a a bunch of hosts. Both 1/2-28 and 5/8-24.

I found in my parts bin flash hiders for half of them. But maybe I just need thread protectors for the rest? The whole point is to protect the threads and also still allow me to shoot at the range if I don't feel like using the suppressor that day.

What about the AR builds that are just for hunting? Any reason for a muzzle device at all?

I don't want to thread lock, index, or even go wrench tight so I can easily screw on the Ranger 7 when it's range time.

I decided to load up some 44.5 and 44.2 based on this test but I'm not entirely confident I read the results correct.

The group consisting of 44.4 I pulled the high shot. Slipped off the bag right as I fired. The next group felt good but a similar impact to the previous makes me think it wasn't me maybe it was.

Anyone with more expertise is love the help

I also loaded up some 45gr as the shape was decent so I'm tuning that in with seating depth.

As the title says, Colt MK18 barrel, .070 gas port, no taper pins or set screw dimples. Cage coded, never been fired, I mounted it to my upper and then changed to a different barrel setup. Asking 200 shipped, PP F&F(or you cover fees), USPS money order, or FTF if close enough.
