Sidearms & Scatterguns For the upland bird hunters: 28" or 30" barrels?

I've just about made up my mind on a new shotgun, a Beretta 687 SP III, Joel Etchen Signature series. 20/28 gauge combo set. Initially I was pretty set on 28" barrels, then it was suggested I should strongly consider 30". The 30s have a mid-bead and wider rib than the 28s.

My use case is mainly hobbyist trap shooting and this year I am planning on getting into upland bird hunting, such as Snipe, Woodcock, Quail and Pheasant.

I'll almost certainly do less hunting than trap shooting, though hunting is arguably more important/serious due to costs and real, live game.

I'm not really sure what the hunting areas would be like, as I haven't done it before. It'd mainly be in IL, Southern WI and maybe OH or IA.

Is 28" vs 30" splitting hairs or should I seriously consider one over the other?

SOLD A&D FX120i Scale

Not shooting much anymore and clearing out some extra stuff. Don’t need 2 of these.

Scale was only ever a backup and used very sparingly. It could essentially pass for new.

**ETA: I have all original contents (plastic housing, documentation) all new in packaging, however I don't believe I have the original box. I'm an expert packer and it will be fully insured either way.

Questions & what to look for when purchasing land?

One of my major life goals since I was a kid has been to own property, ideally a good bit of it. I'm now firmly at the point where I really need to plan for it, both pragmatically and financially.

My questions to the Pit are about what things to look for, what to avoid, considerations that may not be obvious, heck just general advice. Things that you'd consider total deal breakers, or deal-makers.

I have some ideas about what I want. I want:
  1. A good chunk, like 100ac or more
  2. Mix of tillable/crop and wooded, open.
  3. Terrain features like rolling hills, elevation changes, not just a big flat rectangle.
  4. A natural water source either on property or nearby; could be a stream, river or creek that runs through the property or a lake or river in proximity.
  5. Buildable site for eventual house(s), barn(s), workshops.
  6. Wildlife. Coyotes, upland birds, waterfowl, deer, oh my! The more and variable wildlife, the better.
As far as my planned land uses, it will primarily be a (extended) weekend getaway, a place to camp and hunt, ride ATVs and do redneck things with my friends. I would plan to crop lease out the tillable acerage to generate income.

Long term, I would like to build a residence on the property to live in after retirement. I would still crop lease out. I would also then starting adding a barn and stables, have a few horses, and add some chickens, lambs, sheep. Horses for riding, the other for funsies and (potential) food sources. I'd also like to have shooting ranges, because why wouldn't you.

I do have acerage and price points in mind, both of which can be adjusted for the "right" plot. One constraint would be that I'm currently located in N. IL and would like the property to be within 6 to 8 hours max driving so I can actually go a couple weekends a month.

What things do I need to think about, such as:
  1. Features to look for
  2. Features to avoid
  3. Deal-makers
  4. Deal-breakers
  5. ???
What kinds of questions would you want to ask and answer, for yourself, about a purchase like this?

Tango Fire 4000 - CDF not implemented - coming soon?

I noticed my ballistic solutions between AB quantum and the TF4000 were slightly off. When investigating the issue (emailed both Tango innos and AB), it was pointed out that although CDF for ballistic profiles is available in the engine used by the TF4000, it is not implemented yet.
HOWEVER
- i asked Tango Innos about it, they said the implementation is coming by October!! Hopefully this stays true, kinda frustrating to range something and then have to think about taking a .1 - .2 off of the solution that it's spitting out.

Tell me again how great the economy is.

Even w/o looking through dark glasses, the signs are all around. I can see it first hand at the flea markets almost every weekend. Plus coupled with all the lay-offs & shorter working hrs people are only getting, this country's policies over the last 20 years and national debt, the combined due date is about to arrive. The split between those who float this country & those who only take from their backs has grown beyond sustainably. The three card Monty game is dying quickly & that ink you think & thought was your savior, is about to get a lot more transparent.

Why doesn’t the Kestrel Library have Lapua Long Range and Lapua only lists G1?

Like the title says I was wondering why it’s not there for the use of the custom curve. Only two are listed for mine and a buddies 5700 elite center x and Midas+. Also Lapua only lists G1 and it’s at .172. Next super long range, long range, x-act, and center x all have the same G1 BC of .172. So I guess my only choice is it run that G1 Lapua gives? Any help is appreciated!

Inheriting a small orchard (need advice)

I’ve seen people post similar topics in here before, just looking for advice from anyone with experience or good ideas. I’ll try to cover all pertinent items below. Thanks up front for any advice or input.

Here’s the deal, I stand to inherit a 40 acre fruit orchard when my uncle passes away. Apples, pears, and peaches still producing on roughly 15-20 of the acres. Less and less every year as he’s 77yrs old and can’t keep up. This may be his last season. The rest he has leased out to neighbors for corn, wheat, soy. Property has a great well located at the high point on the property, he pumps to a tank and gravity feeds the orchard for irrigation when needed. He lives in a double wide that’s close to the road, has a large enclosed barn for equipment storage and fruit sorting, storage. Large walk in cooler too. He has no children or wife and the will is completed and signed. Back of the property has a large stand of Oaks that cover the width of the plot. It’s a large rectangle basically. Nice pond on the property as well. Property is surrounded by farms.

I don’t intend to settle in OH. Few years left until retirement from AD, wife and kids are permanently settled in the PHX area and we don’t plan on leaving even after I transition out. We would like to spend time at the farm so the thought is to build out there one day, something small for us to enjoy the OH summers and deer hunt in the fall. Selling is out of the question. Grandpa bought it in the 50s and it’s not leaving the family.

Question is, say he passes (god forbid) in the near future…or even when he eventually does… I don’t want it to sit and get overgrown, then there’s the liability piece as well with random trespassers. Would likely auction the equipment and have the double wide hauled off. Not sure what the best path forward is. Thought about forming an LLC and continue leasing it out to collect that income under an ag business of some type and then zone out a plot for a future cabin that I own personally.

Unsure what my options are or what other’s experiences may have been. Appreciate any advice!

Tough job I guess we shouldn’t second guess them committing multiple felonies on a nightly basis.

I mean who would protect us from bunglers and such if we held them to account for illegal entry?
What else would they do look for whom ever fired rounds into a residential dwelling?
