MK 22 vs MRAD

Hello! New to the forum and looking to start dipping my toe into long range shooting. I’ve been doing some research into rifles and came across the Barrett MRAD. In my googling I also came across the MK 22 deployment kit. I am wondering if someone here could shed some light on the benefits of the MK 22 kit vs what appears to be the cheaper option of buying a MRAD in each of those three calibers. Wouldn’t you have to re-zero following each caliber change or would the standard practice be to carry multiple optics to cover the different calibers? I am curious how the kit would be beneficial in the field. Please forgive my ignorance.

SOLD Athlon Ares ETR 3-18x50 Mil in Warne Mountain Tech Rings

Athlon Ares ETR 3-18x50 with Mil reticle mounted in Warne mountain tech rings low with MKM bubble level. This is my second Ares ETR and I picked it up on impulse when I couldn't believe the sale price EuroOptic had them for, but I have more scopes than I have rifle to put them on and don't actually need it. In like new condition; just mounted din rings and taken for one range trip.

Awesome scope that punches well above its price point especially if you pick it up at this price.

$620 shipped for just the scope or $720 shipped with the rings and bubble level.

The Mil version is out of stock and even if you did pick it up at the sale price it cost more than this after you add in tax.

Tikka Action bluing wearing off

So I have a blued Tikka action which was previously spray painted. I'm not saying I'm the one who spray painted it, nor am I saying that I am not the one who spray painted it. In my infinite wisdom I removed the spray pain with mineral spirits and a soft buffing bit for a dremel. Worked like a treat, except that some of the bluing is wearing off and I can see streaks. Over the next x months / years, I'm going to be building a new precision rifle for PRS off of this action, but would like to avoid rust (and ugliness, for that matter).

What would be the recommended way forward? There is (as of now) no rust of corrosion, the action is great. I'm hesitant to have it cerakoted due to concerns about QC and having a truly flat surface at the top for a rail. I could also just get one of those bluing kits, I suppose - haven't done that before, but I'm guessing it would take it back up to factory standards?

Thoughts are appreciated!

P.S. I've heard Tikka say that all of their actions are SS and I've also heard otherwise. Would this have an effect on the bluing process? If there are a couple of materials possible in my action, how can I tell which I have?

50 BMG Question

OK, looking to get a stoopid rifle. I've had three different 50s over the years, I always say it's my "shitty girlfriend that I that I know I'm better off without, but I always keep her number in my phone....". Every time I sell a 50 I swear it's my last one, but I still keep all the ammo.

In the past I started with a single shot from a company called VM Hy-Tech, then onto a Barret M99 and finally a Windrunner. All 3 long gone in exchange for the next shiny object.

Until a few days ago I was pretty set on a M107a1, because what's better than a suppressible semi-auto??? This (and all my previous 50s) are just for fun. Nothing else I've ever take a group of people out to shoot has made everyone smile more than a 50. It makes everyone giggle like a school girl.

But after looking around, there are some really interesting 50s out there. I want to go with a repeater, but certainly doesn't have to be semi auto.

I did some internet searching, but this isn't a popular topic for comparisons. Therefore I was hoping enough people here have shot or owned 50s and can give me their experience and opinion.

I have the following list of candidates:

Barrett M107a1
Barrett M95
McMillan TAC50-C
Cadex Tremor 50
Steyr HS50
AI AW50 (if one comes up that's reasonable)

There is also Desert Tech, which I'm not too hot on. But if enough people said it was the shit, I would also consider it.

Thanks.
