Accessories ICOM IC-R75 Communications Receiver

I know we have quite a few Hams and radio enthusiasts on the Hide so figured someone might be interested in this receiver. It's a like-new ICOM IC-R75 communications receiver. Has lived its entire life on my office desk and seen little use. Works perfectly with no issues. No scratches, dings or dents. From a non-smoking home. Typical excellent ICOM quality, made in Japan. Really pulls in those weak signals when hooked up to a good antenna. Comes with original a/c power supply, box and owner's manual. Selling because it doesn't get used much anymore.

$475 shipped. Payment via PayPal FF or USPS MO. PM me if you have any questions.

Hello from ohio

Just wanted to drop in and say hey from Ohio. Haven't joined any forums recently, and not sure if a post here is mandatory first (tried posting elsewhere and it's still pending).

Anyhow not new to firearns, as I've been collecting for 15 years, but just bought a scar 20s and first time I've considered longer distance shooting. Right now trying to decide on an optic (between a mark 5 or a nf atacr or maybe nx8 as the atacr is a little over budget)

And trying to source how people got an fde atlas bipod as I only seem em in black.

Either way thanks for the add, and hope I can learn a good bit here.

Gunsmithing Rem 700 extractor install and ejector modification (.223 bolt face)

Ive done M16 extractor installs before on 700's with standard and magnum bolt faces. The process goes: take a standard bolt face factory 700 bolt, open it up, solder a nose ring, face the new nose, bore the bolt to a .223 bolt face, then cut the extractor groove. This has worked just fine with standard and magnum bolt faces, but when you bring it down to a .223 bolt face, the new nose covers up part of the ejector hole. How do you go about locating and clearancing for the ejector?

Mexican Economist Proves MAGA Right

Were are getting screwed by Mexico big-time! I had no idea it was this bad. And now that deportations are coming Mexico is freaking out!

There is a new article out on The National Pulse website the details a lot of this. Link below:

Economist Accidentally Proves MAGA Right About Migrants In Mass Deportation Warning.

Mexico has no choice but to fight against deportations because deportations will put a severe strain on their economy. In essence Mexico can't afford it.

One example given in the article, which is probably the smallest problem for them - I quote:

"Economists are also cautioning that mass deportations could reduce the flow of remittances from Mexican immigrants residing in the U.S. The National Bank of Mexico reports that $63.3 billion in remittances were received from the U.S. in 2023 alone."

In order for that money to fly under the IRS radar, remittances would have to be smaller than $15,000 a year per person. Let's say $14,000. This means that to reach 63.3 Freaking Billion Dollars, 4,521,428 illegals would have to send at least one $14,000 check every year!

Vortex Impact 4000 Cold Weather Issues

I Have had my Impact 4000 for about a year now. Overall I'm happy with the product. Recently I took the unit out for some training in winter conditions. 15 degrees F, light snow cover. Noticed almost immediately that battery life MAX was about 15 minutes, no backlight use. Also, when the laser was fired, the screen would go blank momentarily before turning back on and displaying the range. Once the Low Battery icon flashed the consistency/accuracy of the target ranges became very suspect and unreliable.

Has anyone else experienced these issues, or used their impact in very cold weather? I also understand that this is a CIVILIAN range finder and expectation of performance needs to be evaluated in extreme environments. That being said, up here in the northeast its very cold for months on end and I'd like to understand the capabilities of this unit.

Does anyone have experience using a higher end unit (MARS, Wilcox) in cold conditions and do those units perform similar?

Also for reference, I was using energizer lithium CR123A batteries that had been checked beforehand. The same batteries lasted all day in my Vectronix Terrapin/Kestrel. Thanks for any feedback!

Shot Show 2025 Rumours

Well it's that time of year again.

Sounds like Primary Arms is bringing out a replacement for thir GLX 2.5-10, not actually a rumor as it was all but confirmed here. Interested to see what this turns out to be.

I did read rumour that Tikka was coming out with a few competition orientated rifles, in particular a new rimfire model. Very interesting to see what this turns out to be.
