Another noob bolt action question.

So I just took my CZ 600 Range home today, very happy with it so far. And got my Vortex Venom 5-25x56 MRAD scope in today as well. The rifle has an adjustable comb cheek riser. With a 56mm objective lens, how do I know if medium height scope rings will be tall enough? I haven't ordered any yet due to wondering about this. I assume if I mount Remington 700 style rings straight to the receiver I'll need taller ones than if I mount a picatinny rail rail, and then the scope to the rail as that will lift the scope higher and give more clearance for the bell/objective to clear.

Just wanted to check before I ordered if there's a way to measure things out (I have calipers) or if there's some general rule of thumb? I know I don't want the thing way up in the air higher than need be. (I probably will put it on a rail)

360 Precision AR Pistol

I just bought a new AR pistol in .300B from a local dealer.

I was hesitant because I've never heard of these guys, but went for it because everything looked nice, and they are local to me.

Anyone ever hear or have dealings with them? How do they compare in quality with other manufacturers? I don't know much about ARs, I have an AK, and an M14 variant.

I didn't get a spec sheet with it, but the dealer said that they use the same materials for all their products

416R Stainless barrel (8 1/2") edit: likely 1/8 twist
Melonite (?) gas tube
M-16 bolt carrier group
Low profile pistol length gas block

Thanks for any insight you guys might provide

Ballistic-X App - Update inbound...Give us Feedback!

Development begins this Monday for a revamp of layout, added features for base App, and additional features in the Advanced Toolkit. From the start, the App has been $7.99 for life. No ads or gimmicks and the App has grown in features since then. The Toolkit was a means to generate additional funding ($9.99/year) for the Advanced user. This has been slow but intended to grow with comprehensive logs and data, which will be happening this time around. App Development is not cheap! Mean Radius was the main feature behind the paywall, but after Hornady ripped off the App and included Mean Radius in their version, we went ahead and included it in our Base App. I’m very pro capitalist and pro competition as it’s great for consumers but the unoriginality annoyed me. I also realize any future work I do is essential R&D for them to copy…but I digress. We have had complaints of those that purchased the base App and were upset that the other functions were not accessible, resulting in a bad review. It was never my intention to be gimmicky like that but the distinction between base App and Toolkit has not been as clear as it should have been. Other bad reviews have been almost 100% misunderstanding of functions or the App coming unstable after a phone update. It’s surprising how many are upset that the App “doesn’t support 300 BLK caliber”. With the crashes, we generally resolve them within a day or two, but the negative reviews are seldom rectified. If you’ve used our App, we’d love a review to help offset that! Anyhow, onto the coming updates:

First up is Auto-Targets. Lots of people have requested Auto Impact marking but that’s actually the last thing on the list for Automation. Having printable targets that the App can recognize means one could print, shoot, then hover App camera, which then auto aligns and captures image. Size Reference and Point Of Aim can both be easily established and automated. Impacts perhaps could be as well but with more variables with precision stacking, which would require manual override…which gets a bit in the weeds.

From the start of the App, I’ve wanted to add metrics and accountability to shooting. My frustration with cherry picked groups and “.5 MOA all day if I do my part” has never subsided. The merits of 3 round, 5 round, etc are well established and have been for years. A 10 round group is cool and sure, is a better representation of the rifle…but in most cases, every round cannot be accounted for which means the your left with messing ES/Extreme Spread.

Here are the parameters:

1. Standard 8.5x11”
2. Precise POA
3. POA 1 MOA/.3 MIL lower than POI so impacts do not alter POA
4. 3x 3 round Groups so each impact can be accounted. 5x per can be done but more likely to not be able to distinguish all 5 impacts.

This makes the target accessible for everyone for data at 100 yards. It gives 3x groups which will output standard MOA results and standard MOA average between the 3. A new Overlay will take all 3groups and combine them with a data taking each impact and averaging them rather than taking the average of each 3 shot group and averaging them. This first target will be a proof of concept and subsequent target will be built off of it. Other targets and training drills we be available as well, some from known names in the Precision shooting community! (Second image is a free printable target online; I’ll be making a BX specific with open space for the aggregate image and for hand written data).

So there you have it…”shoot holes” in the concept and give any feedback we can make the best solution for the shooting community!

Presidential Medal of Freedom

While it was absurd when Ellen DeGeneres got one from Obama, when PedoPeter got one from Obama, when Liz Cheney got one from Pedopete, pale in comparison to the more recent medal of freedom recipients: treasonous HRC and terrorist George Soros!

NYPD New Year's Rifle

On New Year's Eve, a friend of mine sent me some photos and video his son had shot. His son works in Manhattan, and he photographed a cop (hopefully) with a big ol' sniper rifle.

My understanding is that this thing is a Sako which costs about $12,000 before glass. That's the price for people who actually pay for it, although these guns were provided to the NYPD in a high-profile transaction, so maybe they got a deal.

My question: if Chris Kyle got by with a $6,500 rifle, why did the NYPD need this Sako?

I checked Sako's website, and it looks like it's full of sales BS, but I am no sniper.

They say this thing can be worked on by the user. Well, I work on my guns just fine, and I am incapable of real gunsmithing. And police departments have unions that would never go for taking work away from full-time armorers.

They say you can swap the barrel for different jobs. If you can afford a $12,000 gun, can't you afford more guns and leave the barrels where they are? Maybe I'm ignorant, but what professional sniper wants to swap barrels after he gets his gun just right? It makes no sense to me. How would you keep your zero? And if you have to swap barrels before leaving the station, doesn't it mean you're an incompetent who has no idea what the mission is? Shouldn't you have all that stuff figured out before the call comes?

The whole thing mystifies me. You can walk into Bass Pro and buy a reliable 0.75-MOA rifle whenever you want, so what is the purpose of this thing? No cop needs more accuracy than that.

Okay, tell me why I'm wrong. I just put my flameproof socks on.

Extraordinarily rare GL/SSC clone build is finally complete!

I just acquired the final piece for my GL/SSC build, an actual Colt M203 40mm grenade launcher! This is a factory original Colt M203 40mm, not a converted 37mm. The Daniel Defense GL/SSC handguard is also original, it's not a cut down M4A1 rail. There's a ridiculous number of rare parts being used on this build, such as the Eotech GL40 sight, unique tanodized KAC BUIS set, and the engraved patent pending PRI Gasbuster charging handle. I love this build and I'm happy to have finally finished it, for now. In the future I might add a transferable lower, but for now this is the configuration that it's staying in. It's a heavy rifle, but it's worth it to have something different than every other clone out there:

M203 and lower receiver markings, the lower was made by Intl.Mil.Co. before they got the cease and desist for using the H&R rollmark:

Original Daniel Defense GL/SSC handguard with a NavSea marked rotational WMX200 and LA5:
Here's the rifle without the M203:

Right now I have a CAG used Vortex scope mounted in a Geissele 2099 aluminum/lithium scope mount, but I'm thinking about switching over to the Eotech/Wilcox set that you can see in the photo below. Should I keep the LPVO or switch over to the red dot for this GL/SSC build?

Does anyone else here have a GL/SSC clone build? If so, please post it here in this GL/SSC thread!
