SOLD C prefix R700 barreled action 308 winchester with Timney HIT $600

SPF

80s R700 BDL barreled action in 308W, heavy varmint contour, C prefix action with a Timney HIT installed. It definitely shows signs of being a ~40 year old gun, but still shoots. If you know these old R700s, you know they shoot. Best I pulled off with it was a .44” 5rd group with 175gr FGMM. Barrel was threaded locally in NJ to 5/8 x 24. 24” barrel.

A419 hellfire adapter is installed, I couldn’t get it off for the life of me. It can definitely use a cleaning or a new barrel if that’s your fancy, would make a good donor action for an m40a1 project. Will come with Leupold 20moa rail installed and KRG clamp on bolt knob (can be removed).

$600 shipped OBO, will include the original trigger as well.

Getting a 1k class gun built

Technically not ELR, but i think its more ELR than the general bolt forum.

I've been shooting F-class (1K) for a couple years. Doing my first build. I need "help" as in when I try and contact a smith for advice, I kinda get blown off. I'm not super into "I have to have action X", for instance Bugholes has a special on Terminus + barrel that seems like a slam dunk. But then there is getting the tuner, the stock (espeically the stock) and I get bogged down in choices. Whats the best way to get one of these guys to walk me through a buld. I know I want a 7PRCW (6.5 PRC necked up for 7mm bergers), but after that is a lot of trouble as I know I like a cheek riser, but apparently that doesn't go with the RAT system on stocks. I have no clue what trigger to hang, its a damn trigger. I'm still struggling with my front rest and rear bags, so stock choices are like "Pick One" (plus trying to make friends at the range: Use Bob he's great--except I can't get Bob to tell me what to build)

I really need advice on how to talk to a gunsmith to get them to help me finalize a build, already spent "months" researching and then when I said "lets get started" they dropped the stock thing on me (I haven't a clue what stock to get) and it derailed everything. I can get a barreled action, but once again, how do I get the tuner. (i got 10 left thumbs so trying to pillar bed an f-class gun as a first attempt seems stupid). I am seriously so frustrated that I might buy an origin+barrel slap it in a chassis and just take the shit that comes with that.

Rifle Scopes NX8 4-32X50 vs LRP S3 4-25X50.

Looking for a compact option for my Sig Cross STX (6.5 Creed) . Its a pack gun (gunslinger 2) . Only looking at the XT-MIL and the ZF-MRi versions of these:

LRP S3 4-24X50.
NX8 4-32X50 F1

Are there any standout reasons to not get one over the other ?

( Looking at the newest NX8 version out there to avoid the early reported eyebox issues.)

For hunting ( coyote and white tail ) and occasional steel out to 1k max.

Thanks for any reply.

Ramshot TAC questions

Today I believe to have ran into my first hurtle with ramshot tac. Being a ball powder and not temp stable how much of a temperature swing cause issues. 5, 10, 20 degrees. I never took temperatures on my first load development this summer. Va hot and humid. Today was 60 degrees when i was shooting. This tells me i need info at certain temperatures if i am thinking correct. Also had my first run in with mirage. Hats of to those compete in shooting or just having fun. Stay there for a got while just watching the mirage affect my glass. Oh and shooting 69gr smk out of a 16" WOA spr barrel.

Magpul 700 Pro Lite users

Any users of this chassis on here? Looking for some feedback/likes/dislikes/comments on quality. I have one on the way for my Bergara B14 Wilderness. I was able to score a new one for $430. The rifle is currently sitting in a HS stock with a Mathew’s fab adjustable cheek riser. I’m looking for improved ergonomics due to tendinitis in my elbow being exasperated by the angled/traditional grip on the HS stock. The Magpul chassis weighs 2lbs more than the HS stock, I’m really hoping to still pack this rifle in the field without it feeling too cumbersome. I use this rifle for western big game hunting and I’m hoping to dip my toes in the competition world in hopes of continuing to improve my practical marksmanship skills.

Picture is the rifle as it’s currently set-up

300-600 yard optic?

Got invited to start shooting steel @ 300-600 yards at my buddies club. I didn't have anything capable (my mini 30 is a joke for accuracy) and I primarily shoot AR22's at 50-100 yards.

So I ended up un-dedicating one of my AR lowers and found and bought (I'm ready to get flamed for this) ...a BCA 223 Wylde, 20" heavy, unthreaded barrel. Being in NY, having the barrel unthreaded is one less thing to address for making it featureless... anyway, $235 delivered, it gets me into trying distance on the cheap.

Next up is an optic. For the meantime I'm going to use a Burris Fullfield E1, 4.5-14, but I want a dedicated scope, I will probably will buy something after the holidays. I do try to stay away from China stuff if I can, but it's not always avoidable.

Anyway, I'm going between the arken sh4 and the swfa 10x... leaning towards the swfa. I don't need, or honestly want all the bells and whistles. I like the idea of simple and durable. I understand the swfa is dated, but still pertinent, and I've heard good things about the sh4.

I realize they are 2 very different scopes, but in the price range I'm looking for, those 2 appeal to me most.

Just looking for opinions, or possibly other options to look at that I haven't discovered. My budget for this set-up is about $500 delivered, including a decent mount.

Thanks!
