SOLD Surefire Suppressor FA762SS NSN Marked

Selling my very lightly used Surefire FA762SS NSN# 1005-01-565-6164. I bought this brand new in 2014 and fired less than 300 rounds through on my bolt rifle. Zero mars or marks. I have the pouch to go with. Ideally looking for F3 transfer in Virginia area but can work with you and your SOT to transfer out of state. I have good reviews and will take extra pics as needed and not looking for any trades right now.

Precision Rifle Gear Tripod. The best.

My searching skills just lack in every way. I know the answer is out there. I’m very unfamiliar with tripods, heads and ways to connect to rifle. Assuming I’ll need gun stock work done as well?

I dont shoot or have chassis guns. All my rifles have your typical McMillan hunting style stocks.
I’m looking for the absolute best tripods and heads. Two actually.

One where weight doesn’t matter. Needs to be as stable and solid as there is along with the head.

One where weight does matter. I realize this is where stability is affected.

Also have no idea what’s needed to attach to my stocks. Like mentioned earlier. I’ll probably need stock work?

Price doesn’t matter.

Thanks.

LMT 6.5 MWS range report (12/01/24 update)

Finally got chance to stretch the legs on my LMT 6.5 CM. If I get creative here at my house, I can get about 640 yards without much difficulty. There is a slight pucker Factor as I am shooting over my primary electrical service cable to my house. I make sure I hold for elevation, not dialing today!

I'm happy with this rifle. The AR-10 platform is much more challenging to shoot accurately than a heavy bolt-action rifle, but I find the challenge fun. Honest accuracy seems to hover right around 1 MOA with Premium Factory ammo or hand loads that I've been shooting. 5 rounds at 100 yards will quite often get in the .7's, but just as often I will shoot 1.2". It's frustrating because it's always one flyer that opens up the group, typically a lack of focus on my part especially with follow through. Shooting fundamentals are so much more important with large frame AR, it is unforgiving when trying to print tiny groups!

Regardless, I was pretty happy that I went 9 for 10 on a 10" plate at 640 yards on a pretty gusty day from the bed of my pickup truck. I can't wait to get back out there and do it again.

I'm just posting this because I didn't find a ton of stuff on the factory 20 inch LMT 6.5 Creedmoor when I was researching buying one. Figured I'd post this in case anyone is curious how they perform.

Crooked Cops, Crooked Rangers and Crooked Attorneys

Here's a big shout out to our brethren in Texas. More specifically Nacogdoches, Texas.

Don't watch the video if you don't like getting pissed off. I had some dealings in Nacogdoches a long time ago. More specifically, with John Fleming, the County Attorney.

You will note his appearance in the video several times. He's as sleazy as they come. It's nice to see him in some hot water for a change. It will be even nicer to see him behind bars.

BTW, I like Texas and spent many years in that great state. However, Nacogdoches is a place I stay clear of.

6 Creed (Factory Ammo) 103 eld x & Berger 95 Classic Hunter Data

Just wondering if any hide members have velocity numbers from chronograph on 95 grain Berger classic hunter and Hornady 103 eld x factory loads out on an 18 inch barrel. Need it for my ballistic data on my new thermal, I currently don’t have access to a chronograph. I plan on getting one after the new year sometime but would like this info to get started. Also I’m running a suppressor also, Deadair nomad L. Thank you

Hart Barrels w/PDC and Oryx chassis

I just finished my two builds I was working on. Both have Hart barrels and Athlon ETR 4.5x30x56 scopes. One has the Oryx chassis, CZ455/24" barrel. The other the PDC, CZ457/26" barrel. I finished the Oryx and have shot it once, last week. I just shot 50yds so far and the first 6 shots of TAC22 went through the same hole, not a ragged hole, the same hole and then one flyer and 3 more in a now ragged hole. Thats a 455 with a Mr Fly trigger. I havent shot any high dollar ammo through it yet.

Tomorrow I shoot the PDC and see how it does. I am taking some TAC22 just like with the first gun but I am also bringing some Eley Match, Lapua Center X, and Lapua Long Range, to see how it behaves with good ammo and whether or not the batches are liked by the barrel. Hoping for a low wind day or I wont waste that high dollar ammo and just shoot the TAC22 and probably some CCI STD.

Anybody have any questions about Hart barrels, just ask and I will do my best to answer. I had a 5 month lead time with them. Same for PDC. The quality is such that I think its worth the wait.

How to think about categories of "accurate" rifles?

<newbie, apologies in advance for any stupidity>

Wondering how folks think about what I am beginning to see as four "categories" of elr bolt action rifles. For context, I am looking to get into long range shooting after a bit of a drift off into mostly pistol related sports and activities. I am trying to judge the value tradeoff and decide what to buy. Would appreciate thoughts on how to think about this if accuracy vs. price is my only focus. I am willing to spend $3-5k or so if I am really getting better accuracy than say an RPR, don't care (much) about weight, appearance, custom colors, etc. Expecting to shoot in the 1,000 yard range mostly.

1) Your basic bolt action like the Rem 700 and clones. Sub $1,000 off the shelf. Sub 2 MOA maybe out of the box? I have one of these already.

2) Factory rifles designed for elr shooting, but "low end." RPR. Christensen MPR. etc. Right around the $2,000 mark +- $500. Sub 1 MOA out of the box?

3) Factory rifles, but high end. Christensen TFM. Tikka. AI. Barrett, etc. Typically >$5,000. Maybe sub 1/2 MOA? The TFM is "guaranteed" < 1/2 MOA.

4) Hand made custom rifles from one of say a dozen top class high end builders. Probably would buy one used here, looks like $3,500 - $10,000 is the range.

Would you reject this action?

I ordered a custom action, and I'm just curious on your guys thoughts. The base of the bolt right in front of the handle is missing nitriding, and there is a scratch on the bottom of the action right where the mag would seat showing bare metal.

This is a new action, from a vendor. I don't want to put anyone on blast.

Not gonna affect function, however $1500 for just the action I suppose I had higher expectations on fit and finish.

Hornady high speed 3 in 1 case trimmer

What's everyone's thoughts on the new case trimmer by Hornady? Looks eerily similar to another design. I'm liking the micro meter adjustment though. Thinking about pre ordering one to try it out.

Cartridges that work well super AND subsonic

Hey guys, my last thread was about best cartridge for subsonic lethality. The one before that was supersonic cartridges that pair well with short barrels. So if you have a short barrel bolt action in mind, that gave us an idea of some of the best supersonic and separately subsonic cartridge choices for hunting.

Now I ask, is there any particular cartridges that do a good job at both? They may not be the best at one or the other but have the best balance. They make one gun a 0-200 or even 300 supersonic hunter AND a 0-100 subsonic hunter.

I have no idea if this exists, that's why I'm asking. Maybe the answer has to be two guns.

Let's have your ideas and scenarios fellas. Here's to a good discussion 🤙
