A few nice 100 yard ten-shot groups

On Sunday this week, Sept. 29, I shot fifteen ten-shot groups at 100 yards with a good lot of Center X. One of them was the best I've had the pleasure of seeing first hand. The caliper shows the outside-to-outside measurement.

Of course not all groups were like this one. The fifteen group average was under 0.930" center-to-center.

Yesterday, Oct. 2, I used a different rifle and a different ammo at the same distance. I shot ten ten-shot groups and had the pleasant surprise to see two of the ten looking nice. Again, the caliper shows the outside-to-outside dimensions.

Again, not all groups were equally good, but the ten group average was under 0.850" center-to-center.

A question for the SH Brain Trust...

When all the jobs that could be outsourced... are. And when all the jobs that can be replaced by AI... are. And all the menial jobs that "Americans won't do" are filled by... I'll say imports. And the border remains open and our... "newcomers" receive federal assistance not offered to American citizens (excluding the folks directly impacted by Hurricane Helene of course because I believe they were offered $750 to restart this week)...

Who will be left to purchase our goods & services? Who will be left to purchase our real estate. I've said this before and I'll say it again, I used to revisit my father's hometown and was often reminded of which house the butcher, gas station attendant, baker, etc. owned and now... none of those professions could support a family on a single income and... the divide is growing wider each and every year.

There are folks that would call this progress but the jobs continue to dry up, and the purchasing power follows the same pattern... I'm not sure we've got much more "time" left in this equation and feel like we're quickly moving into a "have's & have not's" society and it's not based on much other than chosen profession and in many cases, luck & familial support.

As an example- 2 of my very close friends have something like 20 years of experience each in the HVAC trade- absolutely salt of the earth type of people. And they know/done it all, coal, heating oil, natural gas, geothermal, etc- but one is stuck in a townhouse he purchased 15 years ago, the other is stuck renting apartments and these are VERY skilled professionals but are absolutely stuck with no upward mobility and are just stuck in a "grind" in a trade that should offer them unlimited options. 20 years each of doing HVAC- I frequently call them up for help because they just have knowledge/skills I couldn't begin to fathom. But they're stuck in otherwise "good" jobs.

I spent the evening with one of those buddies (the one still renting and trying to buy a house of his own as he's approaching 40) and I asked him, what the heck happened with his industry. As of tonight- his answer was that many folks moved to Natural Gas over the past 10+ years and many of the companies he's worked for stuck with oil. Now both of them kept up and learned other types such as geothermal/propane/etc but their companies did not. The one I was talking to today spent a year or so in Florida and HVAC is even lower paid there then in PA (which is shocking to me because I'd have to believe that AC is of the utmost importance in a state like Florida).

Anyway, I'm ranting now I suppose but- my point is that there's a systematic problem that's been brewing for decades here and it's moving at an exponential rate. The question remains though is once we've "optimized" every part of business transactions and nobody that's left can afford housing or the products being sold (for that matter) where will that leave us as an American Society?

300 Savage M25 tracer load data?

Hey ya'll,

Im planning a trip to the high desert with my brothers and wanna load up some fun pills. On hand, ive got a mess of M25 tracers pull downs, some military once fired 308 cases converted to 300 savage, and primers.. but im not finding any info on what powder would fit the use or any load data at all for COAL or charge weights.

Anyone tried this able to chime in at all with some knowledge to share?

Older Leupold Vari-X III scopes

How do the older Leupold Vari-X III scopes from the 90's compare to what's made today? I have a Vari-X III in 3.5-10 and a 6.5-20 with Duplex reticles that aren't getting used much and thinking about an upgrade. Not sure how desireable these are today.
Thanks.

SOLD WTS Zeiss LRP S5 3-18x50

Hey all, I have a Zeiss LRP S5 3.6-18x50 up for sale. I have been using this optic for a full two seasons and wanna switch it up. Scope comes with the original box and manual and is the mil (zf-mri) reticle. Scope also has the objective tenebraex cap and I lost the ocular side, I have a replacement on order for the buyer. As far as the scope goes, it just works, I've had zero issues with the functionality, glass is perfect. It has typical ring marks and a small ding on the objective bell and some marks on the elevation turret. I'd be happy to post extra photos if anyone would like.

Asking $2K shipped, PP/Zelle, no trades at this time.

Thank you!

Honda 4trax Forman vs Rancher ATV's

Looking to get a new ATV for side work and getting around the property. Mainly will be used for side work such as marking timber, TSI work, so it needs to be able to carry paint, or a saw/weedeater with a blade and fit into stocked woodlots. Needs to be able to follow skid trails and climb steepish ground following skid trails.

Also would be used for doing chores around the farm, I am planning to start inoculating/growing shiitake mushrooms/collecting sap from my over abundance of Black Walnut trees on my property. It would need to be reliable enough so I can leave the tractor in my shed.

Anyone have either? I'd like to keep it under 10k and fit in the bed of my pickup when going to possible sites.

Also, where is the best financing, I have not even begun to apply for loans but seeing the interest rates on these things is wild, dealerships are advertising 7.99% interest. I assume I could get it to go lower with good credit/down payment?

GM210 primer issues

I was trying some new handloads out the other day and out of around 25 rounds fired, I had these two duds that happened. Both rounds were rechambered after the initial misfire and I attempted to fire them again with no luck. All of the rounds fired would have been loaded in the same session and used Federal GM210M. I haven't had this issue with any other rounds fired in this rifle so where would I start looking to pin down the "why" of where my issue lies?

Accessories Fully Loaded MPA Matrix Red

MPA Matrix (original)
R700 SA RH, Crimson Red (light red to reddish orange depending on lighting)
Full internal weight kit
Rear weight
Comp side rails
Arca/Pic extended bipod spigot
NV bridge with full length pic rail
Two grips, gas pedal, round saver (has chip, functional)
MPA pic brass catcher

Chassis was used mainly from bench, few times prone, and tripod, has a few small wear marks nothing major. I’d consider condition 8.5/10 with most wear on underside of buttstock and where I had weights attached long ago. Mag well still looks extremely fresh as I mostly ran poly 223 mags in this. Never bedded or modified, I liked it as it and hosted a few different actions over the years.

All the main hardwear is there, but after a move or two there might be a screw short on the rear weight I never ran.
