SOLD Marlin 1894P 44mag JM stamped

I have a Marlin 1894P 44mag JM stamped for sale. I bought this from the original owner who bought it new. I am the second owner. Talked with the fellow and he said he shot it less than a 100 times. Came to me the way you see it except I added a new pic rail bought from Skinner Products as I was eventually going to put a small scope or red dot on it but never got that far. It has sat in the safe and I have not shot it. You can purchase open sights from Skinner Products if you would want to use it with open sites. The rifle is mint and you would be hard pressed to find 1 in this shape. The loading gate looks like a round never went in it. Owner told me they made this model for 3 years. 16 inch barrel and factory ported on both sides at the end of the barrel as seen in pictures.

Gun Clubs Today: Is this a normal practice?

Wanted to get the Hide's perspective on something to see if this is typical practice: As a little background, I recently moved back to my hometown and joined the Rod & Gun club my father has belonged to for 30 years and I have been shooting at since I was 6. The club has about 650 members, trap, skeet, 'tactical' range, 300 yd flat range, 3D archery. It is a great place to shoot. More recently, they have expanded things to include a club house with a bar and kitchen. From what I can tell, save for large events or shoots, the only people that hang out at the bar regularly are chain smoking alcoholics who don't have families or dudes trying to escape their wives haha.
Anyway, I went to the club meeting yesterday which was mandatory for new members and one of their new stipulations for new members is 5 hours of club service within the first month of membership or else you are disenrolled. This apparently is a result of having a ton of members, but nobody to volunteer to do range maintenance, score trap and skeet leagues, bartend, or cook in the kitchen. At this point in my life, with a family, I have more money than time. With that, I always police myself and do not leave any brass or garbage on the range. When did this range become a co-op? What are your thoughts? Fight it since it isn't in the bylaws yet, or provide some slave labor to a club that I pay to belong to?... Why not just raise dues and hire kitchen staff / trap scorers / lawn mowers? It seems like the average age of the club members is about 60 which I understand at a certain point you cant keep lugging around railroad ties, shovel gravel, etc...but the people that have time for club functions are retired... im in my 30s and if I get a small window of time to do a quick ladder test some afternoon , I want to be able to knock it out - not perform work party functions. What are your thoughts?

Which Do You Prefer, Snake-Proof Boots of Snake-Proof Gaiters?

Which do you all prefer to wear afield in the warmer months, snake-proof boots or snake-proof gaiters? I have used rubber snake-proof boots that are great in the spring when it's rainy because they double as mud boots. In the summer and fall I prefer lighter boots, but venomous snakes are still somewhat of a concern when traversing thickets and fairly thick undergrowth. I think snake-proof gaiters are ok, but it can get hot beneath them as the day warms up. I'd like to to try some leather or leather/cordura type of snake proof boots, but I don't want any with heavy insulation. I'm curious as to which type of venomous snake protection some of you all use. Which boots or combination do you prefer?

Newbie trying to find a good load and need some help.

New to the hide and hoping to get some help and instruction and ideas.
I am trying to find an accurate hunting load for my 6.5 CM using 143ELD-X bullets, Hornady Brass, Win LRP, and H4350

I have watched a ton of load development videos and read a bunch of articles on it and am still having some issues finding a constant load.

I did a 10 shot ladder load with a COAL of 2.800.
Velocities from my Garmin Crono were below with grain weights

1-39.7-2605
2-39.9-2603
3-40.1-2623
4-40.3-2645
5-50.5-2647
6-40.7-2664
7-40.9-2678
8-41.1-2687
9-41.3-2687
10-41.5-2716

Screenshot 2024-08-22 093149.png

So I picked the higher node as the velocities were identical on the 41.1 & 41.3 charges.
I loaded 5 of each for 41.1, 41.2 & 41.3 and ran them through the crono again.

This was the data i got.

Screenshot 2024-08-22 093337.png

the 41.1 load had about a 1.75" group for 5
the 41.2 load had a large vertical string of about 4"
and the 41.3 load group had about a 1.5"

My thought was to adjust my seating depth on the bullets for another 41.3 grouping and see what it gets me as it was the "more accurate" grouping out of the 3 and I might have pulled a round when it was shot.

Was hoping that some of you all with a ton more experience than me might be able to help.

I have seen some other types of Load Dev on other sites that I am also experimenting with, but I am still very skeptical of those type of development platforms.

Im not shooting benchrest or anything, but would prefer to have an accurate load.
This particular rifle will also shoot a 3/4" group with Factory Hornady Precision Hunter 143Eld-X so I know the rifle is capable of better than what I have got with reloads so far.
So what would some opinions that you all could give or some suggestions.

Shooters Global Pulse

I have used a MDT Send-it level for a long time. It's one thing that I can see but is a little harder to see when you get stressed on a stage. I have used the Brant Built Ocular device as well and it made things a little better, but not great.

This Pulse by Shooters Global is BRIGHT and in your face. I only have a small amount of time behind it ( 3 practice drills last night ). I will know more after my club match this weekend.

Mount bipod to MDT Oryx?

Sorry for the noob q, tried a search.

Just put together a rifle using the MDT Oryx and looking to mount a bipod. There is a hole where it looks like you can install a sling stud, and then a bipod but with the flat forend of the Oryx would a normal bipod mount up flush and right?
Just install the stud and gtg?

Would a different mounting system/bipod be better?

Thanks, Matt.

Optics NEW Steiner MX5i 3-15x50

Cleaning out my stuff, have a few optics I’m ditching.

This a a new, never mounted Steiner MXi 3-15x50 scope. Absolutely perfect in every way. I bought it a few years ago, but never got around to mounting it up on a gun. I threw a cheap pair of caps on it when I bought it to protect the glass and those are included.

Asking 1900.00 OBO.

Prefer Venmo or PP if possible.

Thanks for looking!
