Intro into night vision hunting

Looking for some input regarding switching to night vision to night hunt instead of thermal. I have the Agm rattler ts25-256 thermal that I’ve been running and it seems to me that, as far as target acquisition goes, you can get into a “good” night vision setup for cheaper than you can get into a “good” thermal. From what I understand it’s cheaper to get a better IR Illuminator than a thermal with I higher resolution thermal censor. Plus I like the fact that you can differentiate your surroundings better with night vision where as if I miss coyote with a thermal it’s common that I shine a light and there’s a lot thicker brush there than I could see through my scope. Am I on the right track with my thinking? If so what are some good options for night vision optics and IR lights for sub $1500? Thank you

Precision Rifle Gear tripod lock?

got the Leofoto SO-362CX inverted tripod with the help of a cert i picked up at a regional rimfire event. As i currently have an optics setup on another tripod and i bought this with the sole intention of learning & utilizing tripod rear when the stage calls for it.

are the MPA tripod locks worth it? is there maybe a 3d printed version people are using instead? or just try to move right - left and not screw it up lol

thoughts?

New to Sniper.s Hide,

I am not new to shooting. My hobby has been collecting and restoring old guns primarily military. I built several AR - 15's with no real issues. I recently built an Aero AR-10. It has an Aero lower, enhanced upper, high pressure bolt, rifle length buffer tube and buffer, aero lower parts kit and a rifle length gas tube 15.5 inches long. All the parts are purchased from Aero Precision with the exception of a Rage trigger and a Criterion 308 heavy match grade barrel 22 inches long and a 1 in 11 twist. I am using a Magpol 10 round magazine.

I carefully assembled the rifle after watching many You Tube Video's. The Criterion barrel has an indent for the set screw on the gas block. For the break in period I fed the gun one round at a time. The gun will eject the spent round about 5 o'clock and will not stay open. When I load the magazine the gun will eject the spent round but will not put a new round into the chamber. I have used 308 hunting ammo, LC 7.62x51 and hand loaded ammo. At this time I have 80 rounds through the gun and have cleaned it several times. I still have a single shot. any suggestions.

SOLD WTS Grayboe eagle r700 SA (not Eagle pro) SPF

Grayboe Eagle for short action R700. This is their “universal” inlet that fits most actions, m5 bottom metals and easily clears a proof sendero barrel. Green with black web. Decided to go to a pro instead. $285 TYD. Great no frills hunting stock. Grayboe lists as 33oz. I do have some bottom metals I could sell with the stock if needed. SPF

I have a e prefix m24 here with an ultra scope. Needing some professional opinions on if this set up is clone correct. Hate doing a beautiful rifle any injustices. Like the thought of the mars rail, but having second thoughts. Roast it
