Question for the accurized AR-15 crowd...

I have a Falkor Caitlyn that I won at an SHC event many years ago. Some of you here have probably shot this exact rifle.

To mix things up from bolt guns, I decided to make this rifle an "SPR". Today at the range I shot some IMI Razorcore 77 and Blackhills 75 match HP ammo. I shot a lot more IMI than the Blackhills, but both ammo produced groups in the 1.25-1.50 MOA range. One group with the IMI was just barely sub 1 MOA. This rifle has a carbon fiber Proof 16" barrel for those curious.

While I understand these are not bad groups for an AR-15, I was hoping for it to be closer to 0.75-1 MOA. This seems to be wishful thinking at this point. However the barrel is likely way over due for a cleaning, so this may be a factor as well.

But while at the range, I ejected a few rounds that were chambered but unfired, and noticed some pretty deep gouges on the ogive of the bullets. My understanding is that this is caused by the feed lips in the barrel extension. I emailed Falkor, they didn't seem too concerned with it. I know that this is a somewhat normal thing with AR-15's, however I can't help but think that these gouges wouldn't have a fairly dramatic effect on precision. Maybe not as much at 100 yards, but I'm sure further out it would produce pretty noticeable results.

What does the accurized ar-15 crowd do to avoid this issue? Or is this just the reality with AR-15's that we have to live with? @MSTN

SOLD 6.8 SPC package

I bought a Stag 6.8 SPC upper years ago to play with, but then I got into NRA Highpower shooting and never used it. I was hoping to use it for some varmint hunting but I pulled the upper apart and repurposed the receiver.

I shot exactly 14 rounds through this barrel.
Selling:
- 16in Stag barrel, 6.8 SPC Spec II, 1:11 twist, includes front sight and pins, flash hider, ....BARREL NUT WAS DAMAGED DURING REMOVAL FROM UPPER - YOU WILL NEED A NEW BARREL NUT.
- Matched Stag 6.8 Bolt - from the same upper, 14 rounds
- Ammo four (4) full boxes (and a fifth box with 6 rounds) of Hornady Custom 6.8 SPC 120gr SST. The last 5 rounds I fired from this barrel went into a group less than 1in at 100yds.

Asking $350 shipped CONUS. I don't know if this is legal in all 50 states since it has a flash hider and a bayonet lug...don't inquire if you can't have it.

Thanks,
Ross

SOLD Aero 308 build and large frame parts stash, mags, tactical brass, etc

What to say about this . . .

When I first got into guns, ARs, and silencers, I was determined to make a large frame run as well as a suppressed small frame. Just go shoot, no drama. Don't have to clean it after 100 rounds or stop and adjust the gas block or destroy brass and eat gas. Just runs.

It took a long time and many iterations of parts but I finally found a winner- criterion rifle length 308, oss can/muzzle device, a5 tube and standard a2 buffer with a springco spring, sentry gas block.

This gun just runs. No drama. Once I found the winning combo though I realized I don't even really like large frames. More of a bolt guy. Just couldn't give up the challenge.

Anyhow I'm getting out of large frames.
Comes with my tactical brass catcher, 6 mags, extra barrels, silent capture spring if you ever want to play with that (I wouldn't) extra BCG, fancy single stage trigger tech green trigger (these are like $300) and anything else I might find.

Kinda sad to watch this thing go but I'm trying to focus on the things I actually shoot and enjoy, which is basically 9mm pistols and bolt action rifles. Everything else is going.

It's no show piece - vice mar on the top from clamping it like an idiot while I mounted a muzzle device. A bit of extra loctite dripping out from securing the handguard fasteners.

Basically this is a good head start for folks wanting to DIY and blast pigs or eat up some milsurp or whatever you're into with a 308 gas gun. Shoots great, it could do anything.

I'm not really sure if I want to ship or not, would prefer face to face in TN but might ship individual to FFL or even FFL to FFL if you pay for it.

I also don't need to give it away so I'm going to price it low and hang tight. If nobody wants it there's room to keep it around. Won't split anything.

Thanks for looking.

$800 plus shipping.

SOLD "quiet" suppressor host ar15 upper. 11.5 middy

After hearing jay from pew science runs a similar setup, I threw this little rig together to see how good an full power 5.56 SBR could sound with an AR-15.

Aero handguard and upper, 11.5 faxon middy. SA adj gas block. I had to order a brt gas tube to choke it down just a little bit more because the set screw was hitting my muzzle device when backed all the way out.

With the brt tube I could back the screw out enough for the gun not to cycle and still clear the muzzle device.

Sounded quiet impressive with a nomad L, h4, and LMT delayed bolt. Quiet handy in a deer blind. I'm all in on bolt actions and flow through cans now so I don't need this anymore.

No BCG/CH.

$200 shipped.

SOLD Staccato XL - as new and unfired

Selling a new Staccato XL

I bought this new, on GunBroker a few weeks ago. I have not fired it. I decided that it's not what I want (I already have an older adjustable sight model). It comes with everything it came to me with, from the dealer.

2 - 17rd mags
Staccato XL case
Fixed rear sights and Dawson RMR plate - model 011-202

I'm looking for $3000 shipped to lower 48, from my FFL to your FFL. Don't try to buy this if you can't own it in your state.
Prefer Zelle, PayPal F&F, Venmo, or money order.
Gun is cross posted and for sale locally.
I'm not interested in trades at this time. Trades added below.

I'll post more pic's later.

Thanks,
Ross

Leveling my scopes

I just don't get what's up with all the "tools" to do this. Here's my technique that has worked for literally years, and all you need is a carpentry level, a bubble level, and a pencil.
  1. Put your rifle in a gun vise and position with a wall several feet behind the butt
  2. Use the pencil and carpenter's level to draw a vertical line on the wall
    • If you're doing this in the kitchen or living room ... ask permission first :)
  3. Use the bubble level to level the rifle in the vise ... mount the scope rings or base and tighten to spec
  4. Loosely mount the scope on the rifle
  5. Point a very bright flashlight through the scope from front to rear - projecting your scope reticle onto the wall behind the butt stock
  6. Line up the vertical reticle line of the scope with the vertical line you penciled on the wall
  7. Gradually tighten everything down, making sure the rifle stays level and the flashlight reticle projection on the wall stays aligned and vertical
Declare victory and go drink a beer. If you keep the rifle horizontally level, and your pencil line is vertically level, and you keep the reticle and wall lines aligned during ring tightening ... this is fool-proof.

A great guy shared this with me years ago, and it works perfectly every time. The pencil line has been on my wall for years.
