New member intro

Hi shooters
From Indiana. Retired active army military weapon collector. Looking to learn and share info about the weapons I have. I have the M1C, the M1D, 1903A4, G43, Mk4 type 1T enfield of which all are original. Putting together period correct m1903 rifles with Warner-Swasey and m1903 with Winchester A5 snipers from ww1 as well, have the scopes and just need to find the correct sn# range for the A5 for the 1st USMC sniper rifle series. Thanks and hope to learn from you all

Installing savage barrel on ARC action

About to start my first somewhat involved project - taking a proof barrel off a savage 110 ultralight and putting it on an ARC coup de grace action. It’s a bit different because the savage take-off has a barrel nut instead of being a shouldered pre-fit. Here’s what I think I need to do. Any comments?

1. Put the savage barreled action into a Wheeler Action Wrench #2, clamped in a vice
2. Use a Wheeler Barrel Nut Wrench to remove the barrel nut
3. Unscrew the barrel (wondering how hard this will be, does savage lock-tite these in?)
4. Clean gunk off the threads and put some sort of anti-seize on there (recommendations?)
5. Remove the firing pin from the ARC bolt.
6. Loosely screw the savage barrel into the ARC action.
7. Put a go gauge in ARC chamber and close the bolt. Screw the barrel down until it bumps the go guage then back off a tiny bit. Check it with the no-go.
8. Once my headspace is good, put one end of the ARC action wrench in the action, and secure the other end in a vice.
9. Use the barrel nut wrench to torque the barrel nut down to 100 foot-lbs spec’d by ARC (not the 50 ft-lbs typical for savage)
10. Check again with the go and no-go gauges. If it clears, you’re good to go.

Finally made it out to test some hunting loads for the Seekins PH2 7mm RM

Finally got out to test some hunting loads, in the 7mm RM. It seemed to really like this one:
168gr. Berger VLD Hunting, 69.5 gr. H1000, 30 thousandths off the lands for a COL of 3.414 @105 yards, 2950 FPS. Amazingly, my 3 shot string with 70 gr. of powder had an extreme spread of 1 FPS with an SD of .61, but did not group as well for some reason (probly me). No pressure signs on any string.

Lone Peak Arms Fuzion: Cocking Issue?

Fresh build, so I haven't shot it yet. But I saw a post on Reddit where someone was experiencing something similar, so I decided to check mine out closer. Is this normal? I reached out to LPA today but figured I'd ask here too.

When closing the bolt, there's a prominent click/detent part way through the cocking action. The firing pin does drop forward a bit and the bolt shroud kind of jiggles/rotates suddenly. After that point, everything seems normal. No slam fires. Firing pin and trigger seem to function fine. But I've not experienced this in other firearms.

Is it a function of how the Fuzion was designed?

Trigger is Bix'n Andy Tacsport Pro with standard sear.

Hunting Season is Coming

We have a Hunter Diagnostic coming out asap, the draft is up, here is a sneak peek at the 1 Box hunter diagnostic

RifleKraft Hunter 1 Box Diagnostic
This guide is designed to help shooters determine the maximum effective distance at which
they can reliably hit a target of a specific size. The Hunter 1 Box Diagnostic focuses on
measuring the shooter's fundamental consistency, wind reading and variability, stress, and
accounts for some ballistic uncertainty as the cone of fire extends to further distances. The
calculations presented here are not simple extrapolations from a group shot at 100 yards or
based solely on the wind conditions on the day of the test. Instead, they provide a
comprehensive approach to evaluating likely hit or miss scenarios under various
conditions.

This diagnostic tool can be particularly useful in hunting situations, where ethical
considerations are paramount. By assessing kill zone sizes for game animals and
determining an absolute maximum no-shoot distance, hunters can make more informed
decisions, reducing the risk of injuring or missing their target.

Step 1: Paper at 100 Yards
Shooting Positions and Sequence
Perform the diagnostic from the three most likely positions you anticipate using during the
hunt with the same equipment and ammunition. Follow a build-and-break sequence for
each shot to simulate hunting conditions.

Build and Break Shots: Shoot from the three most likely positions you anticipate using
during the hunt—three shots each, totaling 12 shots.

On top of this Weatherby has been supporting the site and recently we were using the Weatherby 307 in 6.5CM, but soon we'll be looking at the Alpine models for the site.

The Alpine CT https://weatherby.com/store/model-307-alpine-ct/

And the Alpine MDT which is what I like for a hunting stock

What are you doing to prepare, what caliber / cartridge will you be shooting ?
