As title states, wondering if anybody has tried one out yet?
Looking to put one on a trainer .22 so any distributors on here that can order me one let me know.
Thanks in advance.

I ordered one the other day to try out. Just got it yesterday. Seems solid. Glass seems nice and i like the EBR-2C reticle. Sport optics has them in stock. Bought a 4-16 FFP shipped for $304 out the door. Will get it mounted and hopefully have some rounds down range in a few weeks.

I ordered from sport optics today. Can’t beat their prices!

First, how did you get it so cheap from them? their list price is about $50 more than what you got it for?

Second, when you get it can you post a review as i am really thinking hard about this scope for my AR15 chambered in 6.5 Grendel. Paying for college doesn't leave me with a lot of spare cash. it just seems like a good basic scope, almost in the vein of the SWFA SS series, but adjustable zoom. I am really focused on the turret tracking and repeatability.

They had it listed for $349, but had a special with 13% savings on select vortex scopes and this one was included in that deal. Savings still apply using code FALL13. They never charge shipping and ship fast. Had it in two days from their shop to Dallas. I have played around with it in the alley. Glass is good for a $350 scope. I have the Razors as well and there is an obvious difference so don't think this is going to take the place of that. That said, I put it on a hunting rifle and what I have done with it so far, it is a nice little scope. The rifle I put it on is not a long range rifle so I have not taken it out to distance. I have four kiddos and unfortunately it has been raining here a bunch so my range time has been very limited. I hope to get a chance to play with this one a little more in the coming month so I can have it ready for hunting season.

sport optics seems to never have them in stock.

Just put an order in for one of the 4-16x mrad ones. Will be comparing it to a Nikon fx1000. Pretty excited, should be great for my 300blk 700.

Anybody shooting with one yet? The 10 yard parallax is appealing to me for an air rifle.

I think it's a 20 yard parallax. My EV order is delayed 6-8 weeks :(

I have it on my rem 700 308. Took it to 600. Works. Havent done any tracking tests yet. But glass is clear enough for me at 600 and turrets arnt bad. I agree on the lack of a ZS and rev counter to be its lacking point.

That said. I do plan to upgrade in spring and throw this on my AR.

I know it is made in a different place, so I suspect it is not the same design.

I have a 4-16x44 coming ( I should have it tomorrow), so I will have a reasonable idea on how it stacks up shortly.

ILya
Yes different place but maybe same components?

Looking forward to your review ILya.

Ive handled the 4x16, glass seemed nice, good reticle, turrets a lil mushy but for 350$ seemed nice. Considering one for my 22. Just cant stand the numbers right next to the vertical stadia, dont like holding on a number.

Looking at a 4-16 to throw on a cheap hunting rifle. Can anyone confirm if they are made in China or subic bay?

Put it on an ar. It’s good for the price, not great. If your shooting less than 500/600 yards it’s plenty. Probably grab another one for a .22 trainer. I think it will shine at the price point for that application.

That is unfortunate. If anyone wonders how vortex has a lifetime warranty on these, keep in mind they prob have less than $100 per unit into these. When I can buy a made in Japan Bushnell for less, something is seriously wrong. Not to mention this tech will end up in Chineese military products. Guess I will just spend more on a Nikon not made in a communist enemy country.

While I would prefer US made products, we as a nation are a highly paid bunch. I can’t afford an AMG for an ar, it’s good they give the option. I’m a vortex fanboy as I’m local to the company, and respect the product/funding they put back into shooting sports. I’ve only once used their vip warranty and have/ have had probably 30 of their products. I went to bend one of the defender caps like an asshole to show a buddy why they’re better at -5* and snapped it off. As an aside, to my knowledge the scopes are sent to the US, disassembled, and put back together using different internals to protect tech.

Vortex is a great company but I hate their business with China. Now they aren't alone in this front but I'm not going to send money that ends up arming our mortal enemies, especially with military tech.

For a cheaper optic the Weaver 3-10 mil/mil is made in Japan and can be had around $150 on eBay/sales.

Anyone have any reports on these yet? Seems like a pretty good choice for a .22.

Yeah I’ve got the 6-24. Parallax is not a fine tuned machine but does focus at 10. Eyebox is brutal at higher mag when you come from a gen 2 razor but it keeps the same ret. Overall I’m happy with it for the $300 I got it for. Still a good option at the ~$400 street price.

I tried the Diamondback Tactical 24x for my 22LR, but found it a little lacking at the top of the magnification range. Since I like to use my 22 to punch small holes in small targets, I wanted something clearer at higher mag. Before going up to the Viper, I tried the Midas Tac 24x for about half the price. Glad I did. It's very nice glass at the price point that also tracks great.

Aren't most of the nikons made in china?

I received my 4-14 today. Comparing it to the Nikon FX1000: turrets feel more “clicky” and sharp (less refined?) but still good; glass is noticeably less clear, eyebox is smaller, and reticle is too thin at 4x. However it is also half the price of the Nikon, and seems like a great value.

This is going on a 300blk 700 for which I load exclusively subsonic. I think it will work very well for this application.

I have the 4-16. Glass is good enough for the AR it's going on. The turrets are mushy. Reticle is great. The Athlon Midas BTR it replaced (I wanted FFP) had much better turrets. Same with a Midas TAC that I have, but it's $200 more. All in all it's not a deal breaker at the price I paid. It's going on an AR and it will rarely be shot at over 200 yards anyway, so I won't be dialing much.

I just picked up a 4x16 for a beat around truck gun. So far I like it, but I haven’t gotten to try tracking yet. Now that it’s been out for a few more months has any one else done a more complete review on it?

I will report that I am what some would consider a scope snob (semi-lol)...NF atacr, NF NXS, Kahles smk3, Kahles1-8, Swarovski Z5,Z6,Z8....now having said all that my dad whom I love very much but doesn’t know much about optics bought me as a gift the Vortex diamondback and was very excited. So I dutifully put it on an AR 15 and he and I went to sight it in. I put it on one my of my lower cost home builds (but still excellent none the less ); after 10 shots using 77 grain SMK black hills match I was in sub MOA territory. I was beyond thrilled. How could, this be? This cheap optic is performing as well as my “best of the best” optics? It can’t be possible? So I proceeded to shootm4 (10) round groups that were just great. I let the barrel cool off and then returned to optic later that afternoon to,finish my zeroing as I was going to sight it in using a 200 yard zero. THEN???? MURPHY’s Law. On my 41 st shot, as the primer goes off sending the round down the, chamber MY SCOPE GOES DARK ???. What just happened? I’m on a roll? I don’t need such expensive optics? People are stupid for spending ridiculous amounts of money when cheap optics can do just as well. I fired another shot, boom, the scope goes dark again!!! WTF justnhappened??? SCREW IT! BOOM BOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM (the optic is going dark after every shot....I’m gobsmacked but reality hits. This is what you get when u buy a 250 dollar scope.....that’s the Vortex diambonback story.....SO MY DAD AND I LEARNED VALUABLE LESSONS.....NO MORE CHEAP OPTICS....?????????????????

So..... what’s causing that? It’s not like it’s your “shtf” choice. Send it in and get it fixed. I’m pretty pleased with the 2 I’ve got. Sent 400 rounds of 5.56 under the 6-24 last Saturday.

Don’t know. Typical Vortex. Broken? Send it in and we wil REPLACE IT......I’ve been shooting PRS now for a couple of years and a friend of mine who’s quite a well known PRS shooter and is sponsored by Vortex (uses the razor gen 2 4-27x56) says that the QC at vortex is lacking big time. Their optics break a lot for a tier one optic. He told me in confidence but he thinks it’s pathetic. He’s not the first person I’ve heard that from either. It’s all over YouTube.... A lot of pro and semi pro shooters have told me that Vortex cranks out a high volume of optics but it affects their precision tracking and it affects their reliability. It’s not a big deal for me as this optic is nothing more than a toy compared to,what I’m used to but considering I’ve experienced what these other guys complain about using the gen 2 razor is just a reaffirmation for me that the NF atacr Line or the Kahles'or Schmidt and Bender or Tamgent theta are the way to go if u want expert tracking and reliability. Those are qualities in PRS I would never compromise unless I was offered a Vortex razor Gen 2 4-27 for free LOL.

Well if you hear about how good a companies warranty is it kinda means it gets used a lot. Which means something

I’m never bashing Vortex. Those guys make great stuff and I know it’s high quality. I’m just stating my thoughts and experiences.

My only suggestion for Vortex Razor 2 line would be that their 3-18x50 NEEDS TO GO ON A MAJOR DIET ????

Anyone checked the tracking of the DB tactical yet? I put a 6-24 on my .22 but haven’t played with it yet?

I just ran my 4-16X44 through a mechanical tracking test using a boresighter and while not an optimum test it appears to be good so far to 12 mils. I'm going to put it on my 10/22 and I'll run a tall target test from there.

Really would love to know about the tracking as well. The new PA 3-18 has a claim of only 3% deflection across the entire range of adjustment

Did Koshkin ever do a review yet? Im thinking of getting one for my SPR to hold me over until I can get a proper scope for it.
