Wonder how much the explosion proof gas can will cost ? I never knew that using a gas can near an open flame would cause any harm, the service station attendant who filled my gas can failed to warn me the gas was combustable.

This was in the spending bill just signed:

The "Portable Fuel Container Safety Act of 2020'' establishes "performance standards to protect against portable fuel container explosions near open flames or other ignition sources" and directs the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to "promulgate a final rule to require flame mitigation devices in portable fuel containers" within the next two and a half years.

This is all I’ve used since they started the BS rules on gas cans. I’m sure they’ll be banned before too long.

If youre stupid enough to pour gasoline around an open flame......

I just buy the cheap Chinee plastic ones for kerosene for about 4 bucks at WallyZoo. Cant believe I just said that.

There were a few stupid people who did that so now everyone else has to pay for their stupidity, why do we continue to fight Darwinism .

I’ve got a couple that are pretty good, today. But, all of the spill proofing doodads just create failure points.

FWIW, I read somewhere that spilling gas onto a hot lawnmower engine is a good way to start a fire...

I think we need to donate to a study of how human brains are turning into feces! Then shit spews out of that muffler under the sniffer! Yea, I’d donate to that!

Da fuque? I hope this is sarcasm - if not you probably shouldn't be allowed to buy gas.

When I raced bikes in the desert, I used these types of gas bottles/cans with the quick-fill nozzles/poppet valves. Never had one blow up on me.
Didn't realize that a container, filled with high octane fuel, would explode when next to a fire. Learn something new every day. Mac:rolleyes:

    picture this...

20 litres = 5.3 gallons, smoke in the mouth refueling vehicles and machinery. that's me. knock on wood, i am yet to burn my eyebrows.

It was bad enough when they took the vent away. Now putting oil into my recycle "tank" is a royal PITA. Have to go really slow on the dump tank to the fill tank now or it will bubble and blow back everywhere....because once again, some Darwin Award candidate was smoking and didn't realize vapor came out of that little hole.

Lol, you could throw a cigarette in a bucket of gas and it wouldnt light.
so, long story short, when you throw just 1-2oz of gas in a stack of tires, and let the fumes do their thing, throwing in a lit match creates a serious explosion!!

Lol, yeah. An open flame or spark will ignite it but a lit cigarette or coals wont.

I've poured gas on coals and it only put them out. Also tried lighting gas with a cigarette, no go. All thos movies where they flick a cigarette into a trail of gas and blow some shit up... BS.

If the cigarette bounces and makes a spark that could set it off. Gasoline is tricky stuff.

Due to OSHA regulations I have gone to all the metal fill rite auto shut off cans. They work just fine.

There are a few of the race cans around the place.

One thing for sure you can't fix stupid.

use diesel to start a fire if you need to, it doesnt flash.
im a certified pile burner thru florida and they indorse 3 parts diesel to 1 part gas.
    i only use diesel
to play w gas is the stupidest thing you can do

i had a buddy get it real bad when he was young...
gallon gas on a brush pile at about 55 degrees and slightly raining, the fumes hung low because of the air pressure and flashed when he ignited it, it fucked him up.
as it will fuck up any of you dick weeds that even consider using gas for anything but powering your car

We poured shit ton of gas on a pile of old wood shingles. Then we backed up put some gas on shingle, lit it, and threw it at the pile. It made about a 20 ft fireball. Bawhoom, pretty fun.

I burned a hella brush and log fire a few years back. Took as much fuel in cans as I could in my Whooptie and got it going pretty good.
Snow on the ground so safe. Neighbor brought over 10 gal. of gas, oil, diesel, hydraulic fluid, whatever would burn and helped me. I gave him ammo for the event.
Stood out there with my Marlin 39A and jacket pockets bulging with ammo. We shot everything that ran from there if it was bad.
Skunks, possums, coons, cats, rats, mice, if it ran, we shot it.
It wasn't long and it was an inferno so we took shovels and threw all of the dead in there. Skunks don't smell too bad if the fire is hot enough.

2 days later after scooping ashes and bits in,- it was nothing but ash.
That spot grows the best wheat than anywhere else in that field.

And now it is hard to find good cans to do it. These new cans are fucked up, but the Govt. is saving me from myself.
    FUKM
