How many Republicans in Congress voted for this? That should tell you something.
i don't think we can assume any of us are being told the complete truth about anything.
how come we didn't know that the ukranian army was killing people in donbass for years, or did everyone else know that already?

People thinking that voting for the republicans to fix things is a joke

Putin needs to die. Just so there is no confusion of who I am speaking of. If you do not know why, I cannot help.

Some people used to say the same thing about Saddam Hussein and he wasn’t necessarily a great dude but he did bring some stability to the region. Taking him out caused a vaccuum and like history proves, rarely is what rises in power after better than what preceded it. And they are almost never benevolent people that has everyone else’s best interest in mind. The US was an exception. So, be careful what you wish for. If Putin goes, someone far worse could replace him.
In support of what @SilentStalkr said what comes after changes in power can be alot worse.

Was walking the dog earlier. Dude was literally mowing his lawn, all alone, with a fucking mask on..

What kind? I do yard work with a 3M respirator sometimes because my allergies get so bad it's like having a runny cold for a week. Pretty sure my neighbor misunderstood as he came up and said something about not going to the gym because they don't follow mask rules.

I read that the Z and V are markings to designate what axis the military unit is advancing from. The Big Z for example is for Zapad, the Russian word for west. As such, they do not refer to follow-on echelons or reinforcements.

This video is worth watching to get a sense of the damage being done... this apparently was a Russian column that got stuck under an Ukrainian artillery barrage (king of battle)

Not sure what is dumb about the quote. Are you referring to the tactic as being effective? Perhaps it is bit silly simple.

As to if they did it? I can appreciate not wanting to spread false information which is why I said I merely read it. However, in the interest of confirming it, I went and found an image of the vehicles on the runway. You'll have to zoom in to see them but they are parked perpendicular down the runway. Just enough to prevent a large transport plane from landing Israeli style. Not enough to stop a determined landing but enough to not make it easy.

Its those little actions like that that can slowly grind an offensive to a crawl. 10-15 minutes of friction adding up across the entire operational planning cycle. These clever little delays start adding up to hours, which quickly turn into days.

All the media attention is on the Kiev offensive, perhaps because its closer to where the western journalists are based.

It is the Mariupol offensive that is really kicking off today that I am most interested in. If they take Mariupol and Berdiansk they link up with the Donbas front.

Will the Crimean units then move northwest to follow the southern side of the Dnieper towards Kiev or will they move north towards Kharkiv to cut off and encircle the more organized Donbas units in the East? Both simultaneously? or something else entirely?

Anyone want to take bets?
i’ll tell you why it is stupid. because you dont seize an airfield by landing aircraft on it.

as to why they are focusing on kiev (or anything else), it’ll be because that is what the naritive they’ve been given to go with is. it really is that simple.

The usual face diaper. I'd never seen him do yardwork in a mask before in the 6 years I've lived here.. so not thinking allergies.
But good for him, the dog and I got a good laugh out of it.

Still hoping all ... and DC gets nuked.
We can dream all we want, but why would Putin remove the weakest POTUS in US history? He isn't THAT crazy.
Edit: not to mention, all that's awful about US politics will be in bunkers.

What amazes me about this...THEY are allowed to protest their government. Think about that.
Now just imagine if they went in, and shot one of them (let's call her Ashlanka Babbetekov), arrested them all, and threw them in prison...what would our headlines say? "Tyrant!" "Evil Dictator" Can I get some odds and place bets on this hypothetical? LOL

absolutely

Takeaways so far:

- I am absolutely convinced that the EU, who showed their hand early with ‘not too many sanctions’ did not think Ukraine would put up a fight let alone actually put the hurt on Russia. They had fully committed to bitch out and let this run it’s course. Only when it looked like Ukraine could possibly wreck this invasion did they mobilize and talk about actual sanctions.

- Absolutely no one cares about anything Biden says. Anywhere.

- I’m surprised at the total ‘ran into a wall head first’ way this has gone. I had initially almost ceded the Donbus and SE region to the Russians as the separatists are based there as well as a blitz into Kiev to secure the airbase to then set off the 2nd phase that then attacked based how the Ukrainians reacted. Instead, let’s attack everything at the same time and get fucking nowhere has resulted. I’m still not sure if it’s because of shit Russian planning and execution or of Ukraine has found a way and went with it.

- Armored/mobile warfare has changed forever as the #1 threat to them is no longer air or a MBT but instead, some beet farmer Slav squatting in a bush with a javelin.

- This is what it looks like when a populace, even local, says we re fighting you so go fuck yourself. This is also why it is important to not listen to any outside media or otherwise, because according to them, you should have all died already. I’m sure our shit tier .gov is indirectly being taught a lesson that ‘fighting’ areas that don’t agree with you and you escalate threatening them and more; shit isn’t going to be anywhere near as easy as you think.

Never underestimate people’s will!

I gave it what, 10 days when I mentioned it earlier?

Shit, its already happening on Day 4.

It's also been confirmed in multiple places that the Russians did not find it necessary to have a large logistical plan for the assault. Wow. I should play the lottery or something. Also hearing a lot of the captured soldiers are totally surprised there was even fighting as they were told they would only be fighting minimal anti Russian militia and would otherwise be welcomed as liberators.

So other than not having air superiority, not having your assault elements be anywhere near each other to maneuver on the enemy, running out of supplies and not even getting into Kiev (who Im still not even sure had an actual plan as to how to defend it) what else can they fuck up?

yes and no, the reason for this is it's not unrestricted warfare and Putin is clearly not trying to decimate all in front of him. At some point, hes' going to cede he failed or go go all in and then the fireworks start

I gave it two days before they started looting, it's day 4-5? and I haven't seen videos of them running down the road with armloads of toilet paper yet.

I wish we had a translation

There's a translation in the comments, the Russians say they've broke down/run out of gas and the Ukrainians offer to drive them back to the border. Then the Russians ask for news about the war and the Ukrainians tell them "Ukraine is winning". Everybody laughs and they drive off.
