Tikka T3 Thread

Are these out at the moment?
No sorry, it was a bit of a joke. Accuracy international came out with a Tikka T3 AICS at the 2014 Shotshow and we're all still waiting for that one to hit the market. Its been 8 years and counting. So when they show off a new Tikka chassis the 2022 shot show, a few of us will probably roll our eyes and say 'sure, sure'.

Anyone with the KRG Midas 2 stage trigger in their tikka? I remember reading somewhere that it can be adjust below the 2.5# listed in their website, but how low can you safely go?

I’m wanting to build a tikka to replace my bighorn for prs but am stuck on the trigger availability. Tried the timney and was not impressed. For reference I’m currently running a cg jackson 2 stage in the bighorn and I love it. It’s set around 1#

The $10 springs from MtnTac or YoDave give you as good if not better feel from the factory trigger compared to the Timney or KRG. Might be a little heavier than 1lb but you can run them down pretty close to that.

My trainer is currently a tikka with a yo Dave. It is a fantastic trigger and breaks just under 1#. I just prefer 2 stage triggers as long as I can get it down close to a pound.

If not I can make the factory single stage work.

Ah. The joke's on me I guess. Too bad, that looks very nice.

Just ordered an elay precision trigger spring, anybody have one and like it?
Those are what I buy. Bought about a dozen of them over the past few years. They are USA made, and come in a set of 3 for a reasonable price. I’ve been really happy with them.

Morning,
I purchased a CTR in 223. The stock needs replaced as it is just not what I am looking for. I have researched the market and am thinking MCMILLAN. 1. What are you all running on these CTR’S??( This is a varmint hunting rifle for me )
2. Are the factory mags good to go as far as functioning?? I have not loaded the mags or been to the range with the rifle,, I want to complete my updates first..
Thanks for any advice!!!

As a loyal tikka fan, I also don’t like the factory T3x CTR stock. I didn’t mind the old standard T3 lite stock.
I went with the manners EH1tk, with the CTR bottom metal and the mini chassis. I’d do it again, it’s great.

the mags are pretty good, with minimal tweaking needed rarely. I would get a stock you like and maybe a trigger spring, then leave it alone.

A while back I was planning out my Tikka build. Considered a fully adjustable McMillan. Don't remember which one. Was trying to decide between it or a KRG W3 fixed. The W3 was cheaper than the McMillan by close to $300 when you take into account bottom metal. The bravo is less than half the cost of the W3. Also you don't have to wait for the krg to be built.

Ive got my W3.

Bought a Bravo from cattleman, best price I’ve seen. Also went to the aics mags for future compatibility. It shipped yesterday but everybody says how good they are for the money.

Does anybody have a recommendation for a soft case that will carry a Tikka Tac A1 folded? There are several out there, just thought someone may have some insight to particular ones. I need 13X36" to fit mine in comfortably. Thanks in advance.

Getting closer. Barrel came in but hasn’t been chambered yet. Just mocked it up to see what it’s going to look like.

Need to install the folding adapter, 20moa rail, and Sterk bits when I get some time. Also need to cut some more MLOK slots in the fore end to better secure an Arca rail. Scope and everything are here just waiting for it to be finished.

It’s going to weight in right around 16lbs, maybe a few oz less. Already digging this look and setup.

The 5.11 Tactical LV M4 Shorty Rifle Bag works for mine: https://www.511tactical.com/lv-m4-shorty.html

Don't own any other 5.11 gear, but this is low-key (especially if you get the "Boring Blue" colorway), has shoulder straps, and a good zip layout including some hook-and-loop PALS/MOLLE panelling on the inside. Makes for a pretty good self-contained grab and go bag, for when you don't want/have a range bag or field bag with you - whether that's for some impromptu plinking through to a grab-bag for a get out of dodge scenario.

It's a little shorter than what you stated, but fits mine (unsuppressed) just fine.

Sadly, no one makes a stock or chassis that fits your rifle. A tragedy.

Pls sent to me for a proper burial at sea.

P.S. where the eff are all the tikka 223’s?!?!?!?! 🤬😤🤬

Man I’m trying to give away an unused Tikka bolt in the classifieds and no takers. Has the market dried up or 308 BF aren’t that desirable?

Most guys have .308 and either want to go to mag or .223. Not that they’re undesirable, just more of them floating around. Not to mention LRI makes them now too.

Personally I’d just pull it and keep it if I were you. Unless you don’t have a Tikka and don’t plan on owning another, you never know when you could use a spare.

We need to request LRI make a 223 bolt face bolt, considering a tikka lite in 223 is about impossible to find the last few months.

I have a fairly new .223 and use the CTR mag in a bravo. It runs smoothly with 73 gr ELDM and has a ton of extra space. I can measure it tomorrow but dont have an AICS to compare
Did you ever measure the CTR mag? Still having trouble finding solid info.

Ive been hunting for a 24" 223 CTR daily for quite awhile now. Missed an opportunity a month or so back. Hopefully they realize this is a popular model and it becomes more available but with everything the way it is now I'm not holding my breath. May just buy a 6.5 soon to tide me over.

Any suggestions for a brake that fits nicely with the CTR barrel profile? Something on the slimmer/more low profile side I'm thinking to keep it slick looking.

You're probably trading some recoil reduction for a slimmer profile.
I had a Gunsmith Fit Area 419 Brake on my 6.5 CM CTR that was a lot cleaner looking than the "No Tool" Taper Mount.
That being said, I shot one of MDT's Tunable brakes at PRE last year and was really impressed with the recoil reduction without being really loud.
If I was going to use a brake again, Id look at the MDT this time around.

I have a Tikka with a 24” factory 6.5 PRC barrel. With Hornady Precision Hunter I am getting about 2820 fps. Does anyone else have a factory 6.5 PRC barrel and have velocities with factory or handloads? I only put a few rounds down the barrel to zero and get some numbers on it. It may speed up a bit yet but I think its gonna take some handloads seated long and filled with powder to make it more than the 6.5 creedmoor it identifies as.

Any suggestions on an aftermarket stock for my t3x tac a1 .308? And when I’m looking at stock options I’m unsure when it asks about ctr ? What does that mean

T3 CTR was initially the name for a plastic stocked T3 with med weight barrel and the TRG type 10 shot steel magazine using a new floor plate that has a different footprint to say T3 Lite/Varmint etc. If you have a CTR rifle and are looking for a replacement stock one assumes you will use your existing CTR floorplate and magazine. Of course you must then choose a stock with CTR magazine inlet.
I presume you have the TRG type magazine in your tac a1. You might sell your old stock with the CTR magazine and change to aics type mags on your new stock which means forget about the CTR wording when choosing a stock that will take a 308 magazine setup of your choice.
Some of the magazine options for the T3 in this video. It does not cover Chassis type integrated mag systems.

Remember, you will also need a bottom metal with your new stock, going from a TacA1 chassis.

Looking at getting a KRG Bravo Chassis… would this be the correct option to select? Still having a hard time. Very confusing.

Yes, if you want to use AICS mags. Choose the CTR version if you want to use your CTR/Tac A1 mags. For clarity, the KRG Bravo is a chassis, not a stock.

What the previous folks were telling you is that if you choose a CTR STOCK, you would need to purchase CTR bottom metal because your TacA1 came in a chassis. For a Tikka CTR model going into an aftermarket, traditional stock, you would just swap the factory bottom metal to the new stock. This point doesn't matter if you are buying a chassis.

Anyone have an internal Tikka wrench they can take measurements of for me? I shipped my bolt and action to LRI and can’t take measurements now. I’m gonna make one but need some dimensions

My wrench measures
.917” across the lugs wide
.377” lug width
The center section is .65”
.6” long
