Stock Market

Here is a good example of how the DOW is being MANIPULATED.... I'm not a big fan of the Russell 2000 but it does give a better example of a well rounded group of companies.

If you haven't been watching the manipulation you must have blinders on.
Daytime, goes up.
Afterhours, goes down.
Every stinking day.
Dunno who's rolling that much cash, but someone is.

This is the punch bowl being taken away ( cheap money).

The market is overreacting (imo) in general. There are stocks that are down that have zero reason to drop while some that you think would drop are holding.

Gambling with other people's money:

(Bloomberg) -- Blackstone Inc. agreed to buy PS Business Parks Inc. for about $7.6 billion, expanding its bets on real estate across the U.S.
Blackstone has been ramping up its real estate acquisitions, with purchases of rental housing, industrial and office portfolios. The firm has spent billions of dollars in the past year, agreeing to deals ranging from apartment communities to luxury rentals in Manhattan. It recently agreed to buy student-housing operator American Campus Communities Inc. for $12.8 billion.

Home ownership will be a thing of the past.

Markets in Asia and Europe fell off bad. Doubtful the US Markets can bail fast enough to keep the entire boat afloat. Worldwide

Shanghai Composite -5.13%
Hang Seng -3.69%
CAC 40 -2.01%

The NASDAQ looks determined to fill out the right side of a subtle "heads and shoulders" pattern. If this is indeed the case, it should be interesting to find out where the neckline exists.

I enjoy the charts and the technicians, been there... done that. The "Dead Cat Bounce" has always been a good laugh for promoting the bottom has formed... We are in a different world and a different market. Program trading, propaganda, top level US Officials (Senators, FED Reserve Governors, families of these people, etc) all becoming Inside Traders, mega funds (Blackrock, Elon, Gates, Bezos) on a power trip..... My hat is tipped to the little guy who can make a living / build a retirement in this market.

Enphase continuing to confirm they are a beast.

46% top-line and 31% bottom-line growth YOY.

49x PE Q1 annualized.

May find support at 120.........
When Blackrock installs ENPH units in their rentals then things will start to look up. Good PR....
Appears they are tied to the Single Family units... Population is moving to multi family living....
California will take a much greater hit, economically, than the corn belt... Most of ENPH units are in California or the West.
Much cooler and less sunlight North of the 38th parallel... How are sales in the North ?
People will not be spending discretionary income on this replacement battery. They will be running ROI and consider the numbers first.

The Enphase IQ Battery 3 models will cost somewhere around $3,000, and the Enphase IQ Battery 10 Models will cost between $7,000 and $9,000 before installation costs are considered.

Must be nice, according to your own words, that a 27% return isn't a good opportunity.
For the swings that company takes not really.

That 30% up could easily be a 30%down.

But if you believe it’s more likely to hit 1100 before it hits 700 then go all in by all means.

I wouldn't be surprised if we go below $700. However, I have a high conviction that Tesla will exceed $10,000/share.

Alphabet said on Tuesday that its board of directors authorized $70 billion in share repurchases, a major step up from last year’s authorization of $50 billion and authorization of $25 billion in 2019
In 2021, Alphabet repurchased more of its own stock than any other public company except for Apple. Facebook parent Meta was third.

$70 billion.... This is an expensive "Nothing burger"... A futile attempt to stop the slide of the shares. No new jobs, no new plants, no new products or services.... Nothing. Big news but kind of like playing with Monopoly money. Building a war chest.

Takeaways from the Enphase earnings call:

Record revenue
Record demand
Record backlog
Record gross margins
Record FCF margins

$ENPH is going to win the residential battery storage & solar market due to their winning business model of making 55nm semiconductors + software.

Let’s talk about rivn.

I think there are some interesting things to discuss there.

Let’s hear some opinions.

Man, putting engineers together with PR people makes for some weird bragging rights to be asserted in investor presentations. Why would anyone think that using a 15-year-old process node would cause them to win any market battles? Does anyone have a hypothesis why this would make for a better SoC IC than, say, any of the half-dozen or so process nodes that have come since and which may be suited for this sort of application? Are investors aware that TSMC and Samsung jointly announced an automotive-grade 8nm node almost three years ago? Investors might as well place their bets based upon the shoe size of the VP of Engineering.

Software is a different story, but everyone claims to have some sort of magic sauce in SW and so I need to see something a bit more substantial then vague arm-waving and the same ol' buzzwords - "software-defined architecture", "digital platform", etc. Oh, and they claim 500 dppm for their microinverter module like that's a great reliability number.

Don't get me wrong - I think they have some cool products, but people get all wrapped up in buzz that they frankly do not understand and it's gonna cause them to get hurt. Saw it play out 14 years ago and 22 years ago, and yet folks are convinced it'll be different this time around.

I'm not sure what valuation to attach to a company that designed a cool product but won't be able to build it in any substantial volume in the foreseeable future due to supplied material constraints.

Yeah. That’s one side of the discussion about them.

So how are they going to produce all these Amazon vehicles.

The thing I find interesting, possible the reason why they will suceed at any cost, are those that are actually backing this company.

Side note: Ford just limited their production of the lightning due to supply issues.

A wise financial advisor once told me:

When the market tanks you can do one of three things.
1) You can do nothing, the market will recover along with your investments.
2) You can sell, you will lose money since you are selling while the market is down.
3) You can buy, you will likely make money since you will be buying while the market is low in anticipation of the recovery.

Your choice.

Thank you,
MrSmith
If the advisor had truly been competent he would have added 3a buy again whenever your stocks drop another 50%.

At its height GLW was $300. Liking the company and trusting its management I started buying at $20. Bought again at 10. Bought again at $5. Used up my credit line to buy at $2. Nothing left to spend when it hit $1.04.

Today it's a sweet $35. But let's not forget the sphincter clenching months of the 20 years it took to claw back this far.

Ford will still build and sell plenty of ICE F-series even if they can't build enough Lightnings. Let's see if Rivian can do the same.

@Hobo Hilton how much of that repo offsets dilution?
Good question... Hard to determine. I'm sure there was a motive for the buy back that we may never actually know... Suspect it was to benefit the executives... Options could allow them to mop up extra shares and keep EPS up...... Propaganda says it's good for the share holders.... We will see.

If I remember correctly Ford stated they will only be able to deliver 40k lightnings this year. I don’t have the current numbers of lightnings that are on preorder but in nov 21 it was 160k.

Twitter might be worth a look for some. If you believe the deal will go through at 54.20. It’s current just below 48.00. So that’s about 13%.

Still some variables at play there.

I'm all for making it illegal for single family homes to be owned by corporations. Don't know how you'd word that to avoid walking around the rule with different corporations but something like you cannot own more than 2 single family homes in a given county or something like that.

Risk vs Reward......... In the old days one of the first questions a Financial Planner would ask his client is "What is your risk tolerance?"..... I wonder if they still ask that question ?

Just kickin' around a few of my old favorites from years past:

INTU , down 35% ytd
COST, break even ytd
HAL, up 45% ytd
INTC, down 15% ytd
KO, up 10% ytd
NASDAQ, down 22% ytd
GLD, up 5% ytd
ADSK, down 35% ytd
CPRT, down 22% ytd

It is a really tough market for the little guy to come out on the Risk vs Reward. It could turn on a dime, after hours, knock out the stops and deal some grief.

Indeed. To be successful the little guy has to think in terms of his lifetime not the shorter time frames that market manipulators use.

That should be the philosophy of a young man. Young enough to take the hit, learn a lesson, recover and make some money. A very broad statement, unfortunately a large percentage of money in the market belongs to the seniors (Pensions, 401k's, annuties, etc)... Seniors don't have a long time frame.

Many of us think in terms of preserving something for future generations. The rest of us, just trying to survive inflation.

Well, "The War" has been factored into the markets. The United States is out of the Covid-19 pandemic phase, said Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Soooo, how about that inflation ?
