I have a huge ass Snap On scissor style compressor and have used it probably 800-1000 times, never an issue and never felt the need to worry.
My question is why haven't they backed off the spring preload nuts there at the bottom of the spring ?
Might drop the tension down to where you could do it by hand.
Because if they were smart we wouldn't have this picture.
