A little west coast wilderness in one of our favorite hiking areas. Picked a quart or two of mountain huckleberries yesterday to have this morning mixed into our pancakes and enough left over for some very tasty huckleberry lemon drops this afternoon.
Really need to get back east sometime and get immersed in a bit of our nations history!
My view most of today. Took the Rim Rocker trail out of Colorado on my way to Moab.
Stuck behind the Griswolds.
Yesterday we had my wife’s family over and my parents. Great time. Nice to get my dad out to shoot some and the FIL shot some as well.
Morning in Hooterville. A little exercise for the 260 as it is usually ignored in the summer months due to light wind and the only target being at 740 yards...
And finally, haircuts in Hooterville are done on the deck in the summer months. Cleanup is a Stihl leaf blower. Your barber chair is a disc blade welded to well pipe (stay upwind as it’s typically galvanized) welded to an old steel horse drawn implement seat. Height is about right and it’s actually quite comfortable.
A country sunset is better than the sunset at the beach.

My chickens are preparing for battle. They have started digging their fighting positions.
Wild fire smoke has been bad in western Washington the last couple days.

Came home yesterday the AC compressor isn’t working.
Stayed home today to get that fixed.
Not all bad.

Wife had the oldest inside looking at the show birds he stopped at a turkey and said I want to eat that turkey. Laid behind them just started laughing. .
Went to Genoa this weekend to fish with my wife for our anniversary.
Turns out there was a fishing contest going on so we entered it.
Ended up taking first place with a 7.9 pound sheepshead.

Playing with the thermal some on the SPRish today
PTO clutch 207 hours. Took me 5 minutes just to cut all the wires off to get to the bolt.
131 hours cluster went bad tach would just spin like a clock. Oil leak in the transmission. During taking out the transmission found a bolt in the rock shaft housing sitting up high like it wasn’t tight well it was too small didn’t even touch the threads.
It’s been a fun week.

Short out and back to a couple of hidden gems. We are careful not to be seen leaving the main trail(PCT) in an attempt to to keep others from finding them. Despite probably close to 100 cars near the trail head we had the lakes to ourselves. The only disturbance was an elk bugling ~400 yards away in the timber. Bliss!
2 trees cut down and stumps cut off . Finished with this stump. I cut the tree down a few years back but never made it back to take care of the stump till today.
Guys that cut hay should be happy.

Making some hot sauce. I didn't do a full garden this year or I'd not have any store bought peppers and a bigger selection. Is what it is. I grew a Reaper and a Scorpion in pots this year. Bought more of each, plus habernero and one red bell. Also roasted garlic and onion. Will let it ferment for a couple weeks and add just a touch of fresh ginger before I add vinegar and bottle.
Fall is in the air. With that being said, the critters have made their way across the road on to our property to start storing up for the winter. This youngster feeding on strawberry leaves...
