The ZERO M-Series Sizing die is the culmination of years of testing, research, trial, error, frustration, and finally, discoveries.

As Reloaders, we knew we needed a die to do certain things, but as the makers of the ZERO Reloading Press, we also learned a huge amount about what other dies did well or did poorly, and what our customers were struggling with on a daily basis.

With the ZERO M-Series Sizing Die, we think we have produced a sizing die that is capable of producing the finest, match-grade ammunition, as well as being user-friendly to new and learning reloaders.

Sizing brass doesn’t have to be complicated. It doesn’t have to require years of trial and error. It just needs equipment, made with the end-user in mind, designed with the understanding that a die is part of an ecosystem of parts. A press, a die, the brass, the rifle – they all have to work together and be designed with one another in mind. This is that. Introducing, the ZERO M-Series Sizing Die.

Damn cool features and looks like it would make sizing easier and more consistent. Too rich for my blood though. Maybe have to keep an eye out for a cert or something at a match.

Yup, it'll be pricey around $500 and is larger than standard 7/8" dies, but that extra size was needed to add the dial-your-headspace feature. This larger M-series will be complimented in the future with S-series dies that are 7/8" format apparently.

Needing a separate, hybrid turret is kind of a killer for me with my Zero. Maybe the next release will have what I need.

Still really cool to see 419 push the market forward.

This is correct. The 7/8" S-Series will NOT include micrometer adjustable headspace or modularity (outside the mandrels) but will be a standard size and lower price point.
Certainly a nice looking product. Well done.
Thank you!

Can’t wait for the big dog versions. Well done.

While pricey, there are many more machining steps that have to take place to produce something like that, so I guess I understand the cost more so than with the other outrageously-priced dies available currently (which are more snake-oil based lol)...

That said, it's also very much like the Zero press, in that it's way fancier than it needs to be to make great ammo.

The pseudo-mandrel design looks interesting (black nitride?), though, a design like that would mean a lot of stuck cases if the neck ID is as close to the mandrel OD as it needs to be to duplicate a 2-step FL size followed by a separate mandrel process. It could be the closest yet though.

Looks nice. But good Lord, $500? Maybe some testing will show a significant difference on target from them, but until then, I'll have to stick with my crappy Redding sizing die I paid $65 for.

The customer base for these is probably the same as the Zero Press.

You're not buying a Zero to make better ammo. You are buying a Zero because you like high quality equipment and some of the design aspects/features of the Zero.

Like you, I can't afford $500 dies and I doubt these dies will produce better shooting ammo than what I can make with my Co-Ax + Whidden dies. I'm not the target audience for these dies. But I can recognize the quality and neat features of these dies, even though they aren't for me.

I went with a Zero because of the quality and the fact I can, in theory, leave everything permanently set up. As it currently stands, the SAC dies fit my needs closer than these do.

That being said, I can appreciate what 419 is doing. Competition breeds innovation and these companies, 419 and SAC keep pushing the envelope. That's good for consumers.

Love some 419 stuff and as an owner of a Zero press I'm not scared to put money into quality tools but even with a zero I don't see myself buying $500 dies + the cost of a new turret head and shellholder.

As awesome as the dies are I do not shoot any of the "caliber of the month club" rifles so even if I were intrigued enough to drop the cash and try them it is a no go.

I have three turrets for my Zero press and every station is full. I'll wait for the 7/8 option.

Wait a minute. I spy a lista drawer full of seating die reamers as well.

@flyer1a - When is that announcement coming?

Well, you poors can get From point A to point B in your Hyundai Elantra’s just the same as
I can get there in my Bentley.

But at the end of the day… one of us arrived with panache and style. And the other limped in driving a Korean go-kart.

Hey… I load a lot of ammo on the $20 Bonanza press I bought when I was 16 and driving a clapped-out Jeep. But I love the 419 stuff because it is craftsmanship… like a Conti-r.

And they saw a niche for people who wanted to load handmade ammo on a handmade press.

Cheers,

Sirhr

I’m not sure I understand the built in mandrel. Is this like an expander ball and will open the neck after compression in the neck portion of the FL die or ???

Anybody know?

Just like that, only done in a way that will deliver real, consistent, true expansion.
Thank you.

I have a few of your products and in each and every case they have been of obvious high quality and exceeded my expectations.

Best of luck with this new product and thanks again for the reply.

Great, another infomercial by the Ultimate Schill.

He might know how to con people into paying to advertise on his channel or giving him free goods for content, but he is not reaching your true target market.

Gavin does a great job of having a conversation about a product, which is what he's doing in this video. I mean it's obviously going to be favorable, I'm in the dang thing lol

I get it. But I feel for the guy too. He can't make any money from Youtube because of their crap monetization policy. The only way he can stay financially viable is doing infomericals.

Ya know, I could get a zero and I thought about it because it's really nice and seems to be an excellent product. I really like the idea of this die just because of the head space ease of setting and let's be real, it looks cool.

That said, the reason I didn't get a zero and won't get this die , is because I honestly don't know what it would gain me? I have super low SD and ES on my 6cm and 6.5cm with my bushing die and no mandrel. I do have a mandrel, and I tested it with 50 rounds of mandrel done brass vs 50 of just bushing die brass and there was no discernable difference what so ever. No chrono difference and no target difference. I did this with 3 calibers, and none of them showed any difference and honestly, at some point the difference, even if it exists is so tiny its not detectable anyway so it sure isn't shootable. I'm not some super reloader like some here so maybe I just suck at it and that's why but be that as it may, I do have low SD /ES over a very large round count and multiple days ect.... I assume you guys who are much more experienced and smarter than me also have these kinds of numbers so, the only thing I can see that this die does is make it easier and look cooler . (Not knocking that either, as I've spent waaay more to look cool and make things easier). Just don't understand what this might do beyond that.

But, but, but....

I understand the need for a larger diameter but I think they missed the boat on not using a tall shellholder and a 7/8 shank diameter that transitioned into the needed 1.25" (or whatever is needed) size above the die plate. Kinda like the old RCBS match seater dies with the inch tall shellholder. There looks to be plenty of press room too.

Just my $.02

Area419 makes good stuff and I use a ton of it, but they are starting to "solve" problems that I am not sure exist. Certainly nothing a little creativity can't solve. For example, if I need an "exact" adjustment in my shoulder bump I use a depth mic and measure top of the die body down to the press plate and adjust accordingly.

I hope they sell a ton, we need every company in the firearms industry to thrive.

I’m just sitting in the back seat wishing Lee would come out with more options on collet dies. Which in my opinion is still one of the best dies made when used properly

$500 for a die lol. In other words, “I’ll se you coming from a mile away!” Cause it takes a special kind of stupid to pay for something like that.

It’s like getting a zero press. If you’re gonna throw money away? Hell with a zero press that a lee can do just as well? Get you a mark 7 or a camdex. You’re throwing money away anyway. Throw it at that!

The original idea behind a mandrel was to expand the necks in a downward stroke, straight against the case head for trueness and concentricity. These new mandrel fl sizing dies do the same exact thing as the commomly shunned expander balls inside a fl die. Pulling the mandrel through relying on the extractor cut/shell holder interface to align the case while expanding the necks. Is this a step backward in quality control of keeping necks true to the chamber? I've just eliminated the mandrel step in most my rifles by selecting the bushing that gives desired neck tension in the initial sizing process, and the rifles shoot great.

When you 100% need to get your balls sucked and product pimped harder than a $3 Thai whore....Gavin at Ultimate Reloader is at your service. He never met a product he didn't love despite having less precision rifle and reloading experience than 80% of the people on this site. Nothing like cashing in those Microsoft stock options to buy a shop full of machines you don't know how to use.

This die is a complete waste of money. I am sure it will sell because the "influencers" will trick people into thinking they need it or just for a flex on the poors. I don't know anyone who deprimes while they size ( sizing dirty brass? Or clean and have dirty primer pocket holes) so that feature is useless. You can buy a mandrel die and a bushing seater from one of the big 5 for less than $200. Need a new caliber? $100 die and $15 mandrel. Not $500 more dollars. Oh and it's a 1 1/4 die so 95% of users can't run them without buying a zero. Great way to sell more shit.

The click feature is neat but not needed. Once you dial a die in you don't need to touch it. I haven't touched my sizing die in the last 7 reloads. The argument was that so many people call and complain becuase they can't size their brass. So a $500 cheat code is the answer instead of spending 5 minutes to learn how to size brass with a bushing die.

The SAC die does essentaily the same thing for $350. Atleast you can use that in your current press.

Like the zero. It's a neat piece of engineering but does nothing a $250 turret press doesn't. They will both make ammo that shoots the same. One may have more measurable deflection than the other, but the ammo doesn't know. If you don't know the basics of reloading no Gucci gear will fix that.

I thought the same and ended up with an expander mandrel for my SAC die.

It produces the same quality brass as FL sizing followed by the mandrel in a separate step.

It produces significantly more consistent brass than squeezing the piss out of the brass and pulling an expander ball through it.

The results for me have been less brass handling, and more consistent results.

I’m not sure how the A419 setup works but companies are coming out with a better mouse trap, atleast I see the SAC modular did that way, and I’d bet A419 did their homework on this one.

500 is beyond my limit for a die. I’d like a zero but can’t currently justify one.

The extractor groove is the most consistent part of the case. Mighty Armory does something similar with their stems and they work very well in my experience.

I have to agree with @DeathBeforeDismount, although I do like my zero(a gift)........and auto trickler.....and bullet central micron dies, and amp annealer. But guess what? My rifles shot just good 2 years ago using redding and rcbs dies in a mec press and salt bath annealed brass. 500$ for a fn die, is absolutely ridiculous. Some pieces of equipment are worth the money if they save you time, as my time is valuable to me. I guess this die can save you a step, the mandrel. But I quit that anyway, using just a bushing gives same accuracy in my experience.

Let's be honest - if we are looking for the best performance to value proposition, we wouldn't even be looking at the Zero press or these dies.

These are luxury reloading items, not necessities.

I agree. I buy the Gucci that will make my time as efficient as possible in the reloading room. I was happy with my mec, the woman gave me the zero for Christmas last year.

Oh Gavin, am not gonna lie I have enjoyed a few of his videos in my time but I always wonder, you have all those fancy expensive machines and quality gear but you choose Athlons, Nikons and Ritons as your optics? not that there’s anything wrong with those choices if it’s within your budget but he can obviously afford quality. Also there’s no other “gun”channel on YouTube with as much gay energy as ultimate reloader.

thats ignorance. So the zero being 10x 100x better than any other press? Pffft get out of here. You spent the $1200 as a sucker for the zero? Should’ve gotten a mark7. Your spending money for the best? Then GET the best. Mark7 or Camdex. That’s the Mercedes Benz of reloading. So why’s you stop? Oh. To brag? Like you have the best? No you don’t. The zero is nice? But it does nothing more than my RCBS Jr does. Lol and I spent $20 on that. Lol

Ultimate Advertiser hasn't gotten a deal with a scope company, that is why he runs the scope of the poors.... Ever notice most of his builds use almost all the same components.
