Falsely accused & pissed

Return the favor. Call the power companies HR department and file a complaint against the asshole you spoke with. Explain to them he menaced you on the phone then called the police on you for complaining about street lights being out. You might mention that his abandoned truck was in a part of town know for prostitution and drugs when you left the note on it. Mention that he appeared to be upset you had interrupted his interlude with a hooker or glass pipe. Apologize to the HR people for taking the time but remind them you feared for your safety since this man has the ability to manipulate power and burn your house down and the last thing you wanted to do is upset a drug abusing, prostitute loving company employee.

Every time you see this truck parked, report it for suspicious activity, call the non-emergency number to report a guy smoking a glass pipe in a utility truck and that you think it might be a stolen truck. Or a guy having sex with what appears to be a minor child in a utility truck. Ghetto stores may still have pay phones, use one of those or a courtesy phone at a business or the lobby of a hotel.

Get a new email address for talking to assholes.

I had IT assholes where I work report me as a threat of "workplace violence" for trying to logon to USAF.mil. I was literally in the Air National Guard at the time and just wanted to check status of stuff. I filed complaints back at these assholes because they had a browser history that included regular visits to websites supporting environmental terrorism, climate terrorism and violent leftist ideology and most of the places they stayed logged onto while working were on the FBI terrorist watch lists. You could go to every violent leftist website on earth but the software blocked websites for law enforcement or .mil addresses. Turns out my favorite IT guy was advocating for violence against the president of the United States and the Secret Service came to visit as well. It worked out fine for me, not so much for the terrorist IT guy.

Just piling on here since it seems what I think has been said, but someone doesn't like you pointing out their failure to do their job, saw your email(seriously dude, get a Grey man email) and got the nosey ass cops involved. Now if anything happens in the future, you are on radar.

No... I would not go near the power company and 'confront' anyone! That will just escalate.

I would have an attorney send the power company a letter explaining your actions. Stating that there was nothing more involved than a good citizen trying to give them information to help them keep their lights on. And stating that in future you will leave the 'lights' issue to them and there will be no more contact from you re. their lights. Thank you and have a nice day. Have them copy the PD if the attorney thinks it is a good idea. Send it registered.

No contact at all.... next step they will accuse you of stalking, being aggressive (confrontational, etc.).

Sucks what they did. But welcome to clown world.

If you knocked them all down and left a BLM sticker, they would be stopping by to apologize for putting their lights on land stolen from Indians. Fuck them.

Sirhr
Have previously mentioned scum sucker to add that his client would hate to be involved in some sort of accident caused by a lack of lighting created by faulty equipment, especially faulty equipment that has been previously documented as faulty.

Something happened yesterday that has me pissed big time. Not sure WTF I can do ?
As I have mentioned on threads before , I have been a long distance runner most of my life.

Most of my runs are early in the mornings when it’s still dark. Since I run in the dark I notice when streetlights are out. I either turn them in the the Power Company online , or write the locations down and give a list to my towns street department head for him to turn in to the Power Company.

After months of nothing being done to fix the lights , I wrote up a fresh list of lights out and stuck it under the windshield wiper of a Power Company supervisors truck. on the list I included my contact info , along with my email address , phone number , etc. A week later I had a call from an unknown number from a Power Company employee telling me I needed to go through my towns street department to report the lights.
Soooo yesterday I look outside and see an unmarked police car in my driveway, two detectives get out.
One walks towards my front door , the other walked to the back of my house looking in my garage.

When I saw him walking back towards the front door , I walked up behind them and asked what could I do for them ? They asked me whether I remember leaving the written list on the windshield ? Then they asked if I had any shooting skills , since my email address is longshot_308 @……..com?
Then he mentioned my Vietnam War Vets license plate on my truck. I asked WTF are they getting at ? Then one detective asked if I was shooting out street lights ? So because I have a shooting themed email address , and was a VietNam Vet , I get accused of shooting out street lights. They ( police) weren’t even from my town. They weren’t assholes , but they tried to manipulate the questions they asked.

So instead of being a well known pillar of my town looking out for public safety, I get two cops accusing me of something I did not do. Should I request the police report to find out who got this shit going ? Is there anything I should do to Straighten out this mess ?😡
Sorry for the book sized thread , I’m so pissed off not sure what I should do next.
🙈
Sadly, this is now the country we live in. There is a reason I post “welcome to Amerika” with a K.

Some bitch-ass at the power company interpreted your email address as a veiled threat and called the police. In this day and age, they're obligated to at least have a look. If they were nice about it and you didn't say anything to keep their interests, you'll probably never hear from them again. I'd be irritated, too.

They probably saw and determined you're not crazy and closed it out.

No good deed goes unpunished. And by that, I mean you reporting the outages....
Sadly.

Welcome to todays America. I greatly regret that what we are passing to our children is not what was passed to us. I would join whatever face book groups your town has and republish your post there including the name and badge numbers.
Yep. And a lot of this is because we haven’t been men! People don’t want to get involved and this is what happens.

A few days after I left the list I had a VM from someone at the Power Company showing up as a unknown number , that it wasn’t my job to report them , it was my towns thats responsible. I have had probably reported 30-40 over the years.
NEVER will turn another one in for sure.
Tried to reach someone at the Power Company, left 2 messages with customer service , never got a reply. 😡
This is exactly why people don’t want to get involved in anything and why a lot of places look run down. Also why people pull out cameras nowadays instead of intervening.

It’s a statewide power company , think they repair them and my town reimburses them for doing it ?
Out of curiosity, what state do you live in?

Yeah.
Cop is anywhere on property but the front door, they are being a prick and violating your rights.

They have no PC to be on your property.
Bingo! If you wanted to you could get a lawyer and push this but it will likely only draw more unwanted attention to you.

Have a friend make a "suggestion" to the local press about a story on how you (the good samaritan) were taking the time to report the broken lights on behalf of community safety only to have the power company unjustly send out of town police to harass you. Make 'em work for you....have the list of broken lights handy if they interview you.
Fuck that. Are we men or are we scared little skinny Jean wearing pricks? Be a man, report it yourself.

First of all if there is 0 evidence of lights being shot out they are making false allegations, harassment and intimidation. Depending on how he was looking in to your garage it could also be a 4th amendment issue. Next if you are unable to address the cheif of police you need to go to the state attorney General since they are responsible for training police. You need to make clear whom ever you are dealing with this is a petition for redress of grievance as that is your right in the first amendment for remedy of the situation. The petition should be written and delivered.

If you're feeling brody send a notice of liability to the power company or the county roads, who ever is responsible for fixing the lights. You'll have to look in to it to make sure who's job that is and you should research a bit on the notice of liability process.

And if you really wanna hit them with some administrative violence, see if you have any neighbors that wanna do the same notice of liability for the lights.
This is good advice. I might also add to maybe just call the power company and act like this never happened and ask for advice on who to contact for this sort of thing. At least you may learn the proper channels.

No warrant and you go anywhere but to the front door and knock is wrong. They know it and don't care.
Bingo. Gestapo is what it seems to be looking like for a lot of places these days.

The bitch-ass power co. employee might have given @Sandhog308 's note to his cop neighbor in another town, who then proceeded to check things out without being dispatched, etc. There may be no report of the complaint or visit at all....
This is highly likely. Only one way to find out.

I suggest you create a timeline of the events you described in your first post. What you were doing, when and where. I asked one of them , why would I report lights out , with ALL of my contact info, then shoot lights out ? I think they saw it was bullshit after a minute or two.
I talked to my towns mayor and he didn’t like police from another town showing up and questioning me.
Thanks guys 🇺🇸
So they were from another town? Should have told them to fuck off and go back to their jurisdiction.

Whoever called the police on you threatened your life. It is no different than if the man that reported you would have threatened to kill you himself. It’s a shame that people are so quick to do so. This is a huge ordeal and you have every reason to be pissed.
Oh come on Wade, fall in line and back the blue already.

Excellent, Smithers!

Well they’re fucking retarded if they think you’re shooting out street lights and then reporting them.

A lot of cops just assume that everyone they come in contact with is up to no good and I’d bet they were no different.

Personally I’d go to the police department and file a complaint. That’s fucked up that you’re trying to help them out by letting them know what lights are out and you get accused of a crime for trying to do the community a service.

You would be surprised

You know that, they had zero idea what they are walking into. I guess I will leave it there. If you swing the needle all the way over to the most crazy and find Ted Kaczynski over there who knows what will happen, they sure did not know who you are, so guarded and polite was what they where.

I would like to know who reported it, I am betting the guy that drives the truck you left the note on.

I'd suggest changing your email address/getting a new email address for future use. Unfortunately, all it takes is for the wrong person to interpret a threat and this can/will happen to you. In some cases, businesses have a zero tolerance policy with stuff like this.
Changing the man's email is pandering to the cucks.

Lawyers, new email addresses, campaigns for revenge. A lot of imagination here, which is great reading.

But ffs how about taking a deep breath and just moving on with your life instead?

Sorry it happened to you but for most government jobs it’s a requirement that you’ve scored in the bottom percentile on at least three IQ tests, thank you for your service and don’t let it bother you.

A few years ago I was riding with a few friends, one was a veteran who served in Afghanistan. While deployed he was involved in 2 IED attacks which left him with some issues, and he has a disabled tag on his motorcycle license plate. We got pulled over at 1 in the morning. The officer was obviously fishing for a dui but we weren’t drunk so that was a waste of time. Then the officer started giving him trouble about the disabled tag. We advised him why he had the tag, but he wouldn’t let it go, stating he looks fine to me, he can ride a Harley so he doesn’t need the tag. We asked if he had served, the answer was no, so we just explained that our friend was getting blown up with bombs serving his country while his fat ass milks a highway for tickets and to fuck off.

10 years ago the state had me listed as dead, and even though I was standing there talking to her I couldn’t convince the rather ugly woman I was very much alive.

I was dumb enough to leave my wallet in the truck once, someone of course broke into my truck as well as three other neighbors vehicles. By the time I woke up there were about 8 thousand dollars on a few credit cards spent at Walmart. I live in a safe city for the most part, I think at the time we had had 2 murders in 15 years, so property crime is mainly what the police need to do. I called Walmart and they confirmed they had who made the purchases smiling into the camera, but the police would need to request it. I called the detective(title detective in name only) and advised Walmart had the footage. He stated the Walmart was in the next town over and he didn’t have jurisdiction, then stated the person who broke into my truck may not be the person who used the cards. I explained I may not have his Sherlock like detective skills but 1) The person who broke into my truck used the cards or 2) the person who used the cards knows the person who broke into the vehicles. I advised if he could put down the donut he was working on, pick up the video, take it to the high school 1/4 mile from my house, they could probably identify who is on camera, and he could have this wrapped up in time for the new batch at Krispy Creme. This obviously didn’t sit well as that evening a uniformed squad car arrived about me making threats to the detective. I explained stating the obvious that he was a lazy idiot isn’t a crime but just a statement of fact, and it’s not possible to threaten a donut so all was well.

I’m sure there are dedicated city employees and police officers out there, but for the most part I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting them. In my experience they will always overlook common sense and latch onto whatever is the least amount of effort that falls within the category of does it fit into the drop-down choices on their computer.

If you walk away from this you’re a punk. And they will think they can keep doing it. At the very least you should demand a public apology.

Id call their department and talk to a Supervisor. You might learn some more about the complaint they were responding to. As of now it seems like a weird connection to make.
Not just a weird connection to make, but to also assign detective to investigate. They wouldn't have sent you two detectives if your house was robbed.

Agreed. I wonder if its part of something larger where they have zero evidence other than shot out street lights.

I would think there is something more. They were gathering evidence, if they went to look in the trash. Which I would think means there is an investigation. For shot out street lights? I wouldn't think, so. Barney Fife can look for Eddy Haskell and his BB gun.

Changing the man's email is pandering to the cucks.
Or, changing your email to something more professional sounding might result in less police interactions and possibly getting what you want done without coming across as one who has a propensity to violence. Common sense is in short supply these days.

Almost everyone here would object to the idea that longshot 308 or whatever it is equals a propensity for violence.

It doesn't matter what we think. Businesses would consider that a threat against them, especially leaving any kind of note on a vehicle. They can't take the chance anymore.
In what rational, thinking world would anyone infer it as a threat against them ? Other than people that should never leave their house in the morning. In fact, people like that shouldn't leave their house at all.

You can do whatever you want. You just have to accept the consequences that come along with it. Keep using a personal email address associated with firearms and businesses will act accordingly. They will either ignore your request because it sounds juvenile and/or request law enforcement to investigate the matter to ensure that there is no threat against them. Or you can change your email address to something professional.

We don't live in a rational and thinking world. A rational world would handcuff a child in elementary school because he chewed is peanut butter and jelly sandwich into the shape of a gun. Any of us on this forum wouldn't interpret an email address with longrange_308 or the such as a threat. The business world operates in paranoia to interpret this as a threat and have law enforcement check into it, because if they don't an incident of workplace violence occurs, they will be sued into oblivion.

Anything gun related is an evil crime these days, its so sad what the brainwashing has done to America

I know you rarely think up snappy answers when put on the spot and the lawman being there in your face, but I would have told them that longshot_308 @……..com has nothing to do with guns, instead it is a porn reference and ask them if they need more info on what is being 'shot' and how far it went, and say, if you could do that you would be proud too ;)

Cum shot 308 inches, and you have no idea how they could think it meant anything else

You know, actually, I get where you're coming from. I won't speak for anyone else, but for me, I don't give a fuck if some nancy doesn't like my e-mail address. And any more, anyone, up to and including cops (inside or outside of their jurisdiction) are going to get a ration of shit from me if they try and infringe on my rights. Particularly when they are standing on my property.

We are where we are today because we believed that by compromising, the other side would be rational and back off. They haven't and they won't. Ever. The last 10 years should clearly illustrate that. Truth is, it's been going on for at least 50 years that I can recall.

Oh, and the OP was simply asking the power company to change some fucking light bulbs. And, for his trouble, he gets a visit from the cops. A lot of dumb fuckery going on there and the OP wasn't one of them.

Someone at the power company could have simply e-mailed the OP back and said "Thank you for the notification. We don't have responsibility for that, but we are forwarding your notification/request to the company/utility/department that does. Thank You and have a nice day". Couldn't get any simpler. Either there is nobody at the power company with the brains that God gave little bunny rabbits, or it's a nancy with an agenda. I lean towards the latter. Same thing with the "cops".

Problem is, there aren't any consequences for abject stupidity anymore. I'm tired of compromising with/compensating for people that would otherwise have Darwin tap dancing on their foreheads.

people are going to always have something to say an opinion about something or another . well let them , what I feel about a topic is worth a pile of crap . how you respond to said opinion means more how you conduct your self means something prove them wrong if they say you did a bad job . try and make things right for them but to hell with breaking your back if they are not happy they never will be . if it's a war on he said she said tell them to f them self break the arguement in half ( there are no more words after that either way ) . remember an ass whooping hurts for a couple of days but letting your self be used as less than a person can affect you for a life time . try and be nice and if it does not work then fuck it . and move on life is really short best of luck .

In order to protect yourself you'll probably want to talk to a lawyer and file a formal complaint against the detectives as well as the city police department and the city.

Then see what the lawyer says as far as how you can go after the power company legally.

Otherwise this stays on your record permanently as you were a suspect in these violent gun crimes but they couldn't get enough evidence to charge you.
Then next time the Uniform Hangers pull you over they see that on the list of cheat sheet notes from their buddies and put the boots to you extra hard for fun.

@Sandhog308 .
Did you get their names or business cards?
I'd check with the local department and find out if they knew these guys were operating in their jurisdiction.
Most don't like it when others come in their yard.

Take up archery.
Buy a cheap bow and some arrows.
Shoot out street lights with the arrows.
Throw your new cheap bow and extra arrows in the river.
Change your email to [email protected]
Tie a note to a brick and chuck the brick through the window of the first "company vehicle" you see.
Make a slingshot using a bicycle tire tube.
Pick up some rocks from the ditch.
Shoot out street lights with the rocks.
Sell your slingshot at a yard sale and spread the extra rocks on the road.
Change your email to [email protected]

. . . oh well . . . just do whatever it takes to make folks worry about important things.

You need to contact the city they are from and find out how to get a report on their contact with you. Then get a copy. Then contact whoever in your local department for
to see if they were notified that these guys were going to be working in their jurisdiction. If they were acting outside of their department and doing this as a favor then you need to contact a lawyer and the media. If they were doing a favor using their badge and city/county vehicle there's a serious issue.
Make copies of all emails and whatever info you have for the contacts about the repairs. Along with the reports of their contact.

Plot twist: Maybe the lights were shot out

Your note and email aren't enough to get two detectives in a car by itself. Unless the lights actually were shot out.

Stupid as it sounds the firemen setting fires example is a good one. Weird people like attention and insert themselves into ongoing problems

Peace officer powers are usually state granted, and cover the whole state. While the specific agency may have a policy of keeping enforcement inside city or county limits, going outside for investigations is very standard. In fact the the neighboring jurisdictions would prefer it that way, since they have their own stuff going on.

Now if you believe they're misrepresenting themselves in some way, then I agree with you.

Not doubting some streetlights may have been shot …but not by ME !!
We have lots of illegals here , who knows ?
I think the drawing attention to them not doing their jobs was a big factor ?
I try to stay on the down low , one reason I run when others sleep is for
the solitude . I just notice when lights are out and turn them in.

I've been falsely accused of many things. Ex-wives like to spin fairytales. An ex-mother-in-law invented swatting with me a as the intended victim.

I'm not an attorney but I think what I will say is what the majority of attorneys will tell you.

During your first encounter (and future encounters) with law enforcement you should ask them if you are under investigation or under arrest. If the answer is no, then you can politely ask them to state the purpose of their business.

If they continue to ask you questions then tell them "before I answer any questions, I will consult with my attorney. If you gentlemen are not placing me under arrest, detaining me or have a warrant, I must respectfully ask you to leave. If you have a business card, I will take it should my attorney wish to speak with you."

Do not voluntarily submit to any interviews. You can ask them to state their business but don't answer any questions.

Follow up with a call to your attorney. If you don't have an attorney, then find one.

He or she will probably tell you to keep your mouth shut. IMHO, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

As far as asking for a copy of the report or any publicly releasable police records let the attorney do that.

He or she may choose not to do anything unless you were charged with something. If I were an attorney, that's what I would do.

Remember, they have to charge you with something before any action can be taken against you. The cops were on a fishing expedition when they met you. They were trying to see of you were going to say or do anything stupid.

You really don't have any grounds for a civil suit as you voluntarily gave your personal information to the utility company and you voluntarily submitted to an interview with the cops.

This might upset you but I would be remiss if I didn't tell you what I think is the best course of action. With that said, you should let it go.

The suggestion for keeping a time line is very important. Start with this situation and list the events as far back as you can remember should any street lights ever get shot out by some street urchins with BB guns. Keep a log of when and where you run as well.

I keep a spreadsheet of dealings with ex-wives because of what they have accused me of. It's a timeline. PM me if you wish and I can send you a couple of templates as I cannot attach spreadsheets to this posting. The timeline/spreadsheets have helped other friends that have been victims of more serious false accusations.

One more thing, and you've probably got this suggestion already but change your email address or get another one without reference to anything. Make it sound generic.

Seems easy. They don't want your help. So stop helping. Not accusing you gun folks are usually solid peeps.
