Hopefully awesome and not funny, but this was my first attempt at a rattle can camo paint job. I’ll let you guys decide. This is on my buddy’s gun. Lol. I think I’m going to try doing a few of my own now that I know what’s possible.
Not sure what your terrain and foliage are like but the paint job looks decent. I think you are on to something though, practicing on someone else's rifle first.

One year old pair I wear 5 days a week to work on the left. 8 year old pair I wear on weekends on the right. I use different conditioners on them too. Just thought the difference was interesting.

We had a great show of the northern lights here a couple nights ago, so I was out with my camera half the night. It was definitely worth only getting 3 hours of sleep and being a bit tired at work the next day, they were dancing all over the sky. It sure seemed magical, I've never seen them this bright and active this far south before. Taken with my K1 and K24 f3.5, jpegs straight from the camera.
