Stick a fork in it, free speech is done.

Disenfranchised 4900 people, along with breaking wierd sounding laws like "rights hurting bad no no".
10 years.
We sit back and say better him than me. Don't worry, the law custom made to put you in jail is already on the books, all they need is for you to get their attention.
We are all felons, they just haven't decided to put us in prison yet.

Hmm, let’s have a look at what this is about?

Douglass Mackey, also known as “Ricky Vaughn,” was convicted today by a federal jury in Brooklyn of the charge of Conspiracy Against Rights stemming from his scheme to deprive individuals of their constitutional right to vote. The verdict followed a one-week trial before United States District Judge Ann M. Donnelly. When sentenced, Mackey faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.
Huh, so it was a scheme to prevent people from voting.

As proven at trial, between September 2016 and November 2016, Mackey conspired with other influential Twitter users and with members of private online groups to use social media platforms, including Twitter, to disseminate fraudulent messages that encouraged supporters of presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to “vote” via text message or social media which, in reality, was legally invalid. For example, on November 1, 2016, in or around the same time that Mackey was sending tweets suggesting the importance of limiting “black turnout,” the defendant tweeted an image depicting an African American woman standing in front of an “African Americans for Hillary” sign. The ad stated: “Avoid the Line. Vote from Home,” “Text ‘Hillary’ to 59925,” and “Vote for Hillary and be a part of history.” The fine print at the bottom of the deceptive image stated: “Must be 18 or older to vote. One vote per person. Must be a legal citizen of the United States. Voting by text not available in Guam, Puerto Rico, Alaska or Hawaii. Paid for by Hillary For President 2016.” The tweet included the typed hashtag “#ImWithHer,” a slogan frequently used by Hillary Clinton. On or about and before Election Day 2016, at least 4,900 unique telephone numbers texted “Hillary” or some derivative to the 59925 text number, which had been used in multiple deceptive campaign images tweeted by Mackey and his co-conspirators.

Several hours after tweeting the first image, Mackey tweeted an image depicting a woman seated at a conference room typing a message on her cell phone. This deceptive image was written in Spanish and mimicked a font used by the Clinton campaign in authentic ads. The image also included a copy of the Clinton campaign’s logo and the “ImWithHer” hashtag.

So he wasn’t prosecuted for posting memes, but instead for trying to trick people into making invalid votes. That’s not just a claim - he was convicted for this.

Happy Friday!

Comey? Dude, theyve got hundreds of people who could and should stand trial for interfering with the 2020 election....but...they are on the winning side. A lot like history being written by the winners Yada yada.

Yeah i know but theres only one form of justice for some some, and one for tje others.

There needs to be clean break. There is no future for productive, peaceful parts of this republic to remain tethered to non-productive non-peaceful parts.

There is no future in being tethered to a country where a local DA can reach halfway across the republic and use illegitimate power to harm a citizen in another state.

There needs to be clean break.

But courts couldn't do anything about election officials bypassing legislature and changing election laws...

He was convicted for election interference. Who else has interfered in elections with abosutue impunity.

So, lets actually be honest about why he was prosecuted.

I would argue that people that stupid, should not be allowed to vote....at all
Slippery slope when assigning qualifiers to rights. North Carolina removed character references on pistol purchase permits and concealed carry in the past 10 years. The county sheriff could deny either just because he didn't like the brand of your car.

It’s also made possible by all of us who do nothing about it
Their job is to make sure we don’t. It damn sure isn’t about “public safety”. Only a complete fucking back the blue retard would still believe that. Any man that pushes back will be directly opposed not by politicians, but by LEO, judges and their surveillance/communication apparatus. This is just FACT.

The constitution is/was supposedly the supreme law of the land. The gov’t isn’t bound by the constitution anylonger. This means the gov’t is ILLEGAL therefore any man in any gov position are illegally in their positions. This is tyranny. Men that work for gov’t in any capacity are working for an unconstitutional gov’t that is moving towards totalitarianism. Those that commit violence on behalf of the gov’t (LEO and Judges) are the worst of the bunch right along with the politicians themselves.

This event is just another glaring example that probably won’t have an effect on most people’s lifelong brainwashed minds.

Edit to add: @Bender, I agree with your post I responded to. Things will get worse unless people not only push back, but take ground regardless of the consequences handed out by the hands of morally bankrupt men (LEO) that choose to empower tyrants in this post constitutional republic all for a paycheck.

This will be appealed to higher court and almost certainly be overturned

In the meantime it costs the accused his liberty/freedom, reputation and every penny he may have had.

It also has a chilling effect of suppressing free speach in the selective enforcement of poorly written laws that have been accumulating on the books for several generations.

Every law should have a sunset provision whereby it expires and forces the legislature to re-examine the law for efficacy/abuse and pass it all over again in order for it to remain on the books.

I agree. Not nearly as slippery a slope as sentencing a man to 10 years for a meme.

So explain to us why Kristina Wong - who did the EXACT same thing that Mackey was charged and convicted for - but HER prank was aimed at Republican voters - has never been indicted. Her tweet is still up, so you can read it for yourself:

huh, don’t know anything about her. Did you turn her in? Did someone turn her in?

Hmm, time for a cursory glance at Google. Oh she’s a professional comedian.

Intent is often key in these kinds of situations, so was this just her tweeting something stupid? Or was she part of a coordinated scheme as Mackey was? It was shown in trial via witnesses and a paper trail of emails and DMs that Mackey worked with others to develop multiple fake “text your vote” posts and target specific groups leading up to the election.

Side note: thanks OP for bringing this whole case up. Looking deeper into the trial and it’s quite fascinating. That guy Microchip seems to have the goods on a lot of folks like Mackey. I suspect Jack Posobiec is sweating this hard.

It’s borderline Whataboutism, but I see Tucker brought her up so no doubt this will be getting more scrutiny. But with Tucker you’re not supposed to believe what he says is true or at least recognize that he may be lying just to get you riled up., so grain of salt. Could be an apples to oranges comparison masquerading as apples to apples? Either way, if you had found her tweet last month you might have been able to save Mackey from a conviction. Wait, does that mean Tucker withheld this bombshell evidence until after he was convicted? The deep dark rabbit holes you can go down with this stuff…

Edit: spelling is hard when you have old eyes

What aboutism.
Let's take a look at the 50 former Intel chiefs that said the Hunter laptop was Russia misinformation. Or the FauxBI and DHS using social media and the mainstream media to suppress it as Russian misinformation. Did they not also conspire to do the same?

Oh, are you sending me down another rabbit hole? Why don’t you look into it? I’ve only got so much time and energy to devote to pointing out the facts of a trial vs a misleading post about said trial.

The point is, nobody should be charged for pulling a prank like this, but the guy who's a Trump supporter is facing 10 years in prison and an anti-Trump "comedian" is ignored for doing the same thing, and you don't seem to find that the least bit curious. Instead, you try to construct reasons for sending a guy to prison for what in both cases is a 1st Amendment issue, not election tampering. You seem incapable of understanding how this looks like the result of a two-tier justice system: one tier that ignores or gives very lenient treatment to supporters of the leftist establishment, and a separate tier that comes down hard on a guy they don't like in order to send the unmistakable message that they will make you pay a very high price for mocking them, the 1st Amendment be damned. If you can't see the obvious authoritarian outlines of this situation, I can't help you.

I bet a lot of this is coming from the Clintons.

As he made efforts to look as such.

I think he sees that. I believe that he is pointing out how they twisted the law to apply their heavy hand to the opposition.
They didn't arrest the guy for a legal protest. They arrested him for disturbing the peace. See how that works?

I know the Bear Pit is where Occam's Razor goes to die, but this shouldn't be so hard to understand if you're being intellectually honest?

Mackey was charged and convicted of violating 18 U.S. Code § 241 - Conspiracy against rights. They had the receipts that showed this wasn't satire or a prank. They have comms showing he and others within his political circles planned and coordinated this effort to deny people's votes. It's not a free speech issue at all.

On top of that, he was arrested in January of 2021 which means the investigation happened during the Trump administration, probably under Barr. How is that a political prosecution?

Sheesh, you guys are exhausting.
