It slid under the existing roof 5”.
The angle change is minimal so no channel needed.
I’ve done that before. Not funny.
Especially when there’s not enough to reach anymore.

I was a utility locator for a brief period. I had a excavator asshole dig up the gas line I was in the process of locating not even 50ft from me. He just stopped with the line in his bucket and stared at me like it was my fault. He got the fines and was kicked off the job site. Luckily it was a low pressure residential line. It can still be dangerous though.
Sadly, I can remember getting calls like this all hours of the day and night. I made the operator dig out the cables by hand until there was enough for a proper dutchman splice to be made.
