Steve McQueen might've been the king of cool.
But this man was one cool cat.
I can vividly remember the day my brother got his letter.
I had the honor of taking him to PDX after his basic.
We drove a 1968 GTS dodge dart "383 powered" burned rubber every chance we could.
He flew out and we didn't see him for another 15 months.
Thankfully he made it back alive.
50 years later he is still bitter over the ordeal.
Three of his graduating classmates weren't as lucky.
I missed all the fun.
Too young by the time things wound down.
