I saw an article that detailed some about his life. He was quite a man. He limped a little from his war injuries and you can see it sometimes during the show. John Wayne convinced him to take the role that Arness initially turned down. It is still the longest running television show.

Here's a text message from 1911. In those days folks would have a pic printed on card stock to be use as a post card. Those folks around the antler pile are my relatives from my mother's side of the family on their ranch. The front of the post card is kind of interesting as far as the address and postmark.
