Current selling trend

I have 20+ leupolds over 30 years and never had a problem. I think a major issue is that because of leupold’s lifetime policy, people find an old Leupold and send it off for a new scope. If they do not get a new product, they publically bash Leupold until they get the product. I think Leupold and other vendors should immediately require product registration for a lifetime warranty. If the product is sold/transferred it can be done in writing/email. Other companies do this. It will lower costs for Leupold and the consumer. LLBean had this problem and had to change tts policy.
Well if your guns just sit in the safe and aren’t used in the field or at a match with lots of turret twisting. You will have less issues

I used to sell them, mount them, repackage them, contact their rep and CS, and send back Leuplods nearly 10:1 versus everything else. I based it off of personal experience.

And my local gun store sends vortex back at 10x the rate he does anything else. (Diamondback and strike eagle)

He wouldn't sell them if not for the fact that the customers ask for them.

The crazy thing with Leupold is the warranty. The shop will tear down a scope from the 70s, fix it, reseal it, purge it, and send it back without question.

I have broken a few sightrons this way. They were zero'd and left for 15+ years. A new barrel and a new zero and suddenly the turret springs gave up.

I've seen it on a few Leupolds also. They returned them with a note that the grease had solidified, so they rebuilt it and sent it back good as new.

You ain't offending me... I know most all Vortex optics short of the Razor line are hot garbage. I still own quite a few, but that doesn't mean they're not still old, outdated, or janky. I bought them when I was a Poor who didn't know any better. Give me a break. At least I can admit my error. 😂

I've stated many times that same statement above about their lower-lines being trash scopes (VX1,2,3), BUT, I've also always stated that their warranty and CS was always exceptional and beyond. We had one customer come in with an EARLY Leupold (like first variable models they ever made old), and it was in ROUGH shape. They told us to send it back to them and they'd get it straightened out. They put new updated custom-cut glass in it (since they didn't have any to fit that size), fixed all the dings, refinished it in the miles-deep gloss black, and polished the scope body and gold ring and everything, with all new seals, o-rings, erector sets (internally) etc... It was a brand new scope in the old body. They even sent back a handwritten note with it thanking him for being one of their longest customers and having the privilege to refurbish one of their oldest model scopes. I always thought that was pretty cool.

I'll never take away them being a good company, just that their scopes (even the newest models) are still kind of old-school internally and fragile due to the lightweight nature of them. We all know about the shitshow the MK-IV was. It is what it proved itself to be. And yes, my Kahles Helia KX is fragile... So are Swarovskis. So are any lightweight hunting scopes. The toughest lightweight hunting scopes I've seen are Zeiss. But that's neither hear, nor there. IMO, Leupold just does not do proper "tactical" scopes very well. They're hunting scopes, as far as I'm concerned. Nothing wrong with that, they do that well in the upper-end lines, but sometimes it's best to stay in your lane, you know? That's why I always steer folks away, if they want one for tactical, comps, or HD use.

Anyone else notice the influx of Leupold Mark5hd scopes being listed for sale in the PX? There were a couple other commonly listed things, but I'm blanking on it now.
They are super popular. They are one of the cheapest scopes you can win shooting PRS with. They are on all non SOCOM MK22 sniper weapons systems. Leupold gives a TON away at matches, and most are sold here after a match. There are a ton of top shooters running MK5. Some of them may even sell some since they are given a bunch of them. They have a pretty big mil/leo discount and I would bet people buy them to flip them for a 20% or so profit.

I don't even like the MK5 but anyone saying they are a piece of shit or trash clearly has some form of brain damage.

They are fragile compared to some other scopes in their price range, but they are heads and shoulders above the mK4 and MK6. They have huge unit to unit variation of glass quality. Some look really good and some look like shit. The reticles in them suck IMO.

A good number of the the top shooters in the nation are running them, for one reason or another. Morgan King, Francis Colon, Jake Millard, Nick Gadarzi, Chad Heckler, Rusty Ulmer, Jon Pynch, Matt Alwine, Doug Keoining, ect ect ect. Thats alot of podium finishes for a POS scope.

I got a vari-x- III that I think has a canted reticle. Will they work on it? It's a great scope for 22lr work

Call them?

Yeah I might need to . I thought the scope was just mounted a few degrees off vertical. Nope, pretty sure it's the reticle canted

Funny how everyone will bitch hell or high water at any match that has a shitty prize table. There’s even the guys who won’t even go to a good match unless it has a good prize table. Then you have a made in the USA scope company that donates a shit load of product to this community and guys make that seem like a bad thing. Be thankful Leupold puts so much back into this sport. There the number one scope company for a reason and it’s not cause they give out free scopes. I feel like I’m ranting and want to keep going but I’ll just stop.

No, please continue...

I’m still waiting on my 6mm ARC MPR to come back from Christensen after having grouping issues. It’s been there for a couple months now. Hopefully I’ll have it back in the next couple weeks. They’re definitely not impervious to defects.

I post the videos because it’s something to do in my spare time. Not for a career. I do the same thing whether I’m recording it, or not. Might as well record it, and post it on YouTube for fun. 🤷🏼
Please update when you get it back. My .300 PRC is there now after sending it back due to 2+” groups with 4 different match ammo’s. I have to say that their customer service has been responsive so far.

I've had it back for a couple months now. It's shooting much better than it was before.

Here's some groups from load development (again) after getting it back.

Here's the same group both with and without the 4th shot flier that I pulled. That shot was me, not the gun. It was hot as satan's crotch and I was sweating like a whore in church, and my eyes dry after wiping sweat out of them all day.

Do people seriously flip through the classifieds counting how many of something they see?

Def see a trend usually when a new productc was dropping.... like all the sico radius for sale in the past month or 2 due to the new vortex wmlrf dropping last week lol.... trying to get that top dollar before the used market dies lol

They literally don't work as a basic scope...if holding zero, dialing properly, and returning to zero are what basic scopes are supposed to do.

People now know it and can't get rid of them fast enough. I still have one, but I don't use it.

Can I still get top dollar for my radius if I upgraded to a Raptar instead of a PV (poverty vortex)?
