The funny thing is wearing a mask is actually useful, whereas the vaccines are questionable…. The thing that chafes my ass is all these people running around wearing masks that I’m starting to see again…. And they think that wearing those masks is like wearing a respirator to filter out viruses. Whereas you’re actually wearing the mask to keep the water droplets in your breath from getting to anybody else because those would be laden with viruses and infect other people. (If you’re actually infected with anything.)

not to mention all the classic shit… Wearing it in the car by yourself, wearing it while walking down the street….

How many years has it been and peoples still don’t understand what the fucking masks actually do and how they work?!
That seems all fine and dandy until the infection rates are basically the same in places where people wore masks vs where they didn't. Could link me a study that shows masks are effective at slowing the spread of respiratory viruses.

Or, do people just avoid people wearing masks? Space is your friend.🙂

Sure.

what the study says:

-There are a shit ton of poor studies where people are trying to prove that masks are not effective, but they’re sample size is so small as to be statistically useless. (You can’t really make good determinations with studies of very small sample size.)

- all large studies indicate that wearing a mask, especially with an infected individuals, makes a huge difference in outcomes of people not getting infected.

- Studies were both people have masks provide even better overall protection. Again, because viruses are aerosolized in water droplets when exhaled from the human body and never by themselves. (In other words, the human body is not a military biological weapon that flawlessly aerosolizes viruses and dusts the target area with them.)

- That people will become infected, regardless of if they are wearing a mask or not if they are in a saturated environment where everyone around them is infected. In other words, the viral dose is so severe that there’s no way a mask is going to protect you. (This is why they wanted everybody 10 feet away from each other.)

I understand that people don’t like being told to wear masks. I especially understand that people don’t like being told they should be vaccinated (Because I believe it is a total infringement of your rights…)

however, with regard to the non-invasive aspect of wearing masks… I really don’t see how losing your shit over someone wanting you to wear a mask during a pandemic is a really big deal.

Telling you that you have to get a vaccine on the other hand… That’s invasive… And it’s not OK.

I do. Never know what mental illness they have.
I suspect you’re more right than people would like to admit.

I am totally confused as to why people are still wearing masks in the office.

Wearing a mask by yourself, is nearly totally useless. Yeah, an N95 mask will provide you some protection, but without others wearing masks it’s just not effective.

Then we come back to people walking around the neighborhood wearing a mask outside, people driving their car wearing a mask, etc.

The guys riding motorcycles, no helmets, but wearing masks........

And yet, in a restaurant and seated, masks were not required??? Also, as a Dumb Infantryman, how do you prove masks work?

Loose my shit because I asked you to support your point. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Also that says it does but doesn't really support your point. Their basis is "if it catches some virus it has to work." How much virus does it take to get you sick?

The relative importance of direct and indirect contact, large droplet spray, and aerosols as modes of influenza transmission is not known but is important in devising effective interventions.

These results suggest an important role for aerosols in transmission of influenza virus and that surgical facemasks worn by infected persons are potentially an effective means of limiting the spread of influenza.

So basically, we think you can get sick from aerosols. So masks must be important even though you still release aerosolized virus when wearing a mask but its less.

Pretty much everything you wrote is bullshit. This studies conclusion is based entirely on a false assumption that catching some virus stops the spread. No empirical data on infection rates in places where people wore masks vs places where people didn't. i wonder why they would ignore that in favor of speculation based on PCR testing aerosols. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

They proved they didn't work nearly 100 years ago in the 1920 flu pandemic. Since then we have found likely evidence that masks cost way more lives than the flu during that time. Now we are getting studies based on numbers from 2020 which were bullshit nearly in the entirety. Zero flu deaths in 2020.

Sure.

Full disclosure:

This work was supported by the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (Grant No. 1122374) and by the Hertz Foundation.

This settles nothing. The jury is still very far out on mask effectiveness. Plus, forcing people to wear masks is also invasive and not ok.

Plumbers these days young enough to have kids probably could not do this.....

Cost of copper besides, today a smart one would use lots of premade pieces with shark bites or just make it out of glued PVC/CPVC.

And surprisingly, there are actually a number of very sharp young plumbers who do know how to properly solder a joint. It’s just fewer than perhaps in the past.

Youre waisting your time debating these people. Minds are set at this point, especially here.

Have a friend that was stationed at Subic Bay in the early/mid 70’s.
Reminds me about an awesome time !
Since he was stationed there he bought a car. He became the 20 + something owner of a 59 Thunderbird 😳 Where the convertible top would go IF he had one 🥴 (gone many Sailors ago ).
No top , used Two folding open Lawn Chairs for seats ! ( had to take with you)
During monsoons , propped the doors open , already had see through floorboards via rust. Thing Is ……he was Stylin Hard over there. 😂 Drive to Subic City , have to run the girls away 🍻
