Coup De Grâce, New Action from American Rifle Company, $899 WOW!

We all know who’s really getting that action….

Plus, you’ll have an opportunity to decide if you like the:

- ACC Premier
- Centurion
- MPA competition

I ordered a vision and it should be here sometime soon…. Because I’ve given up on the fact that it’s the only chassis that requires absolutely no modifications for me to use.

and they fixed the one thing I had an issue with which was the butt pad….

Well, you and I knew but I’m not at all sure anybody other than @TheOE800 lol

And that should beck”I ordered another Vision” ;-) haha

They did fix the butt pad issue? How?

The new butt pad on the vision chassis is super comfortable. The shape is perfect.I’ve replaced all three of mine with the new version.

Ok, I’ll ask you too…what did they change. I know @GBMaryland objection was them putting a hard round button in the middle of the pad for adjustment of pad (I believe this is the pivot point).

What did they change exactly, please.

Most of the pre-orders have taken longer than 5 months.

The latest shipped actions I can find in this thread are a long action ordered on 3/1 (post #5169) and a short action ordered on 2/26 (post #5231). Both were shipped right about the 6 month mark from the order date.

The long actions appear to be moving faster, I'd guess fewer of them were ordered relative to how many are being made. My guess is ARC will have caught up to their 4 month estimate on long actions in the next month or two, but they'll be working through a short action back log for awhile longer.
Still waiting on a RH LA from 2/10.....creepin up on the 7mo mark

The button in the middle is gone. The material is not as hard and the rear is shaped differently kind of tapered from the edges towards the middle.

Is there a way to smooth out this part of the CDG feeding? It's where the brass is sliding up the bolt face as it's captured by the extractor. You feel it more when you're working the bolt slower.

You could remove the extractor and burnish it a bit. Feed a bunch of rounds first, and see where the brass is building up on it.

Excuse the newb question....had the ARC put together in a Zylo Chasis. The AW mags seem just short of locking in. After reading through the thread, and using the search function, it appears that you have to file down the top of th mag catch to be able to hold the mags in place.

Am I reading that correctly?

I believe either that or contact ARC and I think they said they have different length latches.

Well for anyone lurking and thinking about ordering one, or you just wanna go see some more content while you wait for yours, go check this out. I’ll have a couple more coming out showing disassembly/reassembly and adjusting the trigger. Obviously Ted has this as well, but sometimes different angles and explanations help different people. Enjoy!

Is there a reason it's only on low quality video? Like 360p

That's a negative Gearguy.

Std mag latch on a Xylo works with AW's. A shorter latch is available for AICS mags.

CDG/Xylo/AW without touching the latch.

My CDG/Xylo combo works perfectly with AW magazines. I’m pretty sure ARC even says no mods needed for them.

AICS magazines will not go far enough into the chassis without hitting and stopping on the action first. Honest question. Are you sure you have AW magazines?

The 360p option is the first to become available immediately after uploading to Youtube. Once the video finishes uploading, Youtube will start the processing and the better quality options become available later (usually within an hour). As of now, it's available in 4K.

Thanks for the info! I learn something everyday! When I looked it seemed to be good so that would explain it!

Yes sir. Tried both styles. AICS definitely hit. AW style (they are new metal mags that I bought from MDT) are just shy of latching in

Yeah if he sourced them from MDT he has AICS mags.

Try these AI AW mags and it will work fine.

That came from a lot of years of shooting pistol professionally.....pistol, not rifle :)
So, by now you probably know that the MDT short mags are double stack single feed (DSSF) and therefore the mag latch equivalent of AIAC mags. Actual AW mags are double stack double feed (DSDF). It makes a big difference.

Thank you!!!

I may be wrong yet agin (nothing new), but isn't the AI mag in the pic a true AW?

There’s a good several mm in latch height difference between the two.

Phew....They still will not latch. Close but no cigar.
Is your Xylo one of the first ones released? I know they made a few changes. Did your CDG trigger hanger clear without issues? I think the original once have clearance issues with the hanger.

My early Kylo mag latch had to be changed to what is now "standard". I made this post earlier in this thread. What is now standard wasn't standard on early models.

That's odd. Mine is a very early model Xylo. Had to machine front & back of trigger pocket for hanger, but the latch in the picture is stock.
Works perfect with CDG + AW's. Mine feels like it has about .005-.008 extra clearance once it's latched. There are no part #'s on my latch FWIW.

If @gearguywb CDG bolted in the Xylo without mods then it must be the later version & should have the "std" latch?

Ted intentionally designed it so that:
If the chassis was set up to run AICS with any other ARC action, then a change to CDG & AW should be tits without latch modification.
CDG + AICS requires the shorter latch.

I was happy that was my case. Allows me to swap back and fourth Nuke/AICS - CDG/AW & no other changes.

My Xylo fits the CDG just fine, AICS mags don't fit, but AW fit great. It does not have the cut out for the silver spacer they sent with the CDG for the Xylo stock. I got my Xylo less than a year ago. Is this cutout in the Xylo balls ass new?

All I can say is mine required buying a different latch to run AW mags. I have an ARC email about it and made a post about it some pages ago in this thread.

Has anyone bought a bolt head separate from their action order yet? Is there a long lead time for the bolt heads too?

I’ve followed along with most of the thread and I don’t think anybody has mentioned this so far. I was planning a 7 PRC hunting build that would use Hawkins Hunter flush magazines. I assumed I would be able to modify the latch and/or magazine to work. Well, I received my LA .535 bolt face a few weeks ago and found that the mag well of the action of cut specifically for LA AI mags and is much too narrow for the Hawkins mags. There’s no way to make the Hawkins mags work without some substantial machine work on the action itself…

Just a heads up for anybody with similar plans. I have no interest in using long action AI mags on a hunting rig so I’m going a different direction.

See Post 4652

This is from Dalton, the new owner of Wyatt Precision:

You won't be able to run a staggered feed internal magazine box. Those actions are designed to feed from a detachable system, so they don't have feed rails machined in them. If you want an internal box, you will have to use my center feed line. For the SAUM, you can run either my CFE-5 or CFE-6. The -6 is the factory length box, and the -5 is the extended length. You will need to see what the length of the magazine well is to know which to run. As for the 300 PRC; you can run either my CFE-12 or CFE-13. Again the -13 is the factory length, and the -12 is the extended length.

Good luck

squirrel, I order the evening of the first day and received the shipping notification on 28 July. My brother and I each ordered two short actions as well. Two separate orders for two actions each, all four were received in June.

Hawk, thanks for the heads up, I had not considered an internal box. I’ve already chambered my barrel for a Tikka I had on the shelf but maybe I’ll sell that after the fall hunts and continue with the CDG.

I chambered a 20” Proof Sendero contour in 6.5 Creedmoor for one of my brothers action. We dropped it in Manners Pro Hunter with the DBM mini chassis. Hawkins Hunter DBM and AW mags. Feeds perfectly and is hammering, multiple 10 shot groups hovering around 3/8 MOA. Very nice actions.

This was in the box with the action. Ironically it was under a bunch of padding, which was in the bottom of the box. I'm glad I yanked up the padding. Does anyone know what this is?
