Obviously the actual reasons people fail is a lack of focus and effort. Carson succeeded where others didn’t through effort, especially since he wasn’t a naturally gifted student and had to really work to succeed.

The '70's were still worse than where we are now. And it got us the '80's and 90's. You got to hit bottom before bouncing back. Carter, stagflation, Afghanistan, gas lines, the 8-6-4 engine... It was horrible!
Perhaps gay sex in the Senate (along with the rest of the Commie hoards) will begat us another 20-30 years of goodness. Of course, we have to stomp the commies as soon as the worm turns. But that may be coming.

So... it's bad now. Really bad. But we see more shit because we have more communications media. Back then, we at least had an 'almost' unbiased media (they hated Reagan) and were feeling their oats after killing Nixon. But the weren't as bad.
Then again, I'm the world's greatest optimist. I think our greatest days are ahead of us.
But if worthless commies come along and try and take my optimism away, I'm also not going to be a very nice person to those who didn't leave me and my types alone. ;-)
So there is that.
But I'm optimistic. America never succumbs to minority idiocy. We always bounce back. It's just not always easy. Think about how guys like us would have been communicating in 1933... Would not have been pretty.
Chin up America. Don't lose hope. We are gonna be ok. Or, if not... it will be a lot of fun! For those of us who know how to have fun in the suck.
