Everything is racist. (sarcasm)How long until someone says "that's racist"
I am a Ford technician. These vehicles are connected to the internet and can communicate in multiple ways. There is the satellite antenna for the GPS and radio. There is also the telematics control unit (TCU). The satellite radios have been updating themselves for a while now. The TCU is getting software from Ford and is capable of updating almost all the modules. Add on all sorts or aftermartket trackers and other stuff that plugs into the data link connector...
If I were to buy a new vehicle I would unplug the TCU and the satellite antenna. Maybe install my own tracking device because vehicle theft is huge down here.
Also, there are a features that are now subscriptions. Navigation only works for whatever the free trial period is. I have had customers complain about the navigation not working. Sorry Sir/Ma'am but you have to pay monthly for that now. I have heard of other companies charging a subscription for the heated seats. The buttons are there, the hardware is all there, but you have to pay extra every month to push the button.
I saw a segment on a news show within the past week or so about the subscription-based "options" becoming a big thing, more $$ for the manufacturer/dealer.How long until someone says "that's racist"

You are all pay pigs, Goyim.I saw a segment on a news show within the past week or so about the subscription-based "options" becoming a big thing, more $$ for the manufacturer/dealer.
Why not--software does it and makes a mint.I saw a segment on a news show within the past week or so about the subscription-based "options" becoming a big thing, more $$ for the manufacturer/dealer.
Direct power that shit. You can't shut it off if the computer doesn't control it anymore.Wonder if someone could hack the options on said and tell the options fairies to get fucked.
I'd guess it would be easier than cracking an ECU to tune.
Get to work...

The American public owns this 100%. If people would get past the eye candy, look at me, & how much a month shit this kind of B/S would never get off the drawing board let alone on the streets. I have no sympathy for people who have empowered that kind of shit to get this far.I saw a screen shot of a Ford F-150 that didn't update correctly, and it had an error message that said "sorry you will not be able to drive vehicle" man I would be fucking pissed. I don't believe for one second Ford couldn't have designed in some kind of "failsafe" to at the very least let the vehicle be drivable.
Next it will be........"oh you want drive your vehicle at night you have to pay extra for the headlights be enabled please update your payment method or wait for the sun to rise again."
