Fords twist, on repossession issues.

How long until someone says "that's racist"

I am a Ford technician. These vehicles are connected to the internet and can communicate in multiple ways. There is the satellite antenna for the GPS and radio. There is also the telematics control unit (TCU). The satellite radios have been updating themselves for a while now. The TCU is getting software from Ford and is capable of updating almost all the modules. Add on all sorts or aftermartket trackers and other stuff that plugs into the data link connector...
If I were to buy a new vehicle I would unplug the TCU and the satellite antenna. Maybe install my own tracking device because vehicle theft is huge down here.

Also, there are a features that are now subscriptions. Navigation only works for whatever the free trial period is. I have had customers complain about the navigation not working. Sorry Sir/Ma'am but you have to pay monthly for that now. I have heard of other companies charging a subscription for the heated seats. The buttons are there, the hardware is all there, but you have to pay extra every month to push the button.

Everything is racist. (sarcasm)
A subscription for the heated seats is just total bs! I don't/ never had them. Now my wife on the other hand has them in her vehicle and loves them, she won't have a vehicle without them.

I saw a segment on a news show within the past week or so about the subscription-based "options" becoming a big thing, more $$ for the manufacturer/dealer.

I have 2022 F-150 I have love/hate relationship with all this new tech I love being able to start, stop, unlock, lock doors, check oil and tire pressure from my phone, but at the same time I know it's "big brothery" also. It has updated a few times and Ford always send a message like they just cured cancer on every little tweek or upgrade. I don't know why I paid for the built in nav after the trial period. Waze, Google and apple maps is 10x better than the shitty built in Ford nav that you cant even hardly operate unless you are at a complete stop.

And sadly someone here holds the patent for vehicles talking to each other to avoid obstacles.

Got a $50 gift card from Toyota. I think someone slipped a placebo in my meds today.

Little guy always gets screwed.

It all started with GMs 'OnStar'.
Sure you can not pay for it and they will say it's disabled.....
That in no way says it no longer is active.

Snip that fucking antenna lead......NOW!

I saw a screen shot of a Ford F-150 that didn't update correctly, and it had an error message that said "sorry you will not be able to drive vehicle" man I would be fucking pissed. I don't believe for one second Ford couldn't have designed in some kind of "failsafe" to at the very least let the vehicle be drivable.

Next it will be........"oh you want drive your vehicle at night you have to pay extra for the headlights be enabled please update your payment method or wait for the sun to rise again."

The American public owns this 100%. If people would get past the eye candy, look at me, & how much a month shit this kind of B/S would never get off the drawing board let alone on the streets. I have no sympathy for people who have empowered that kind of shit to get this far.
