I know some of you guys use these, some out of convenience, some out of necessity.
I did the same as a little kid.

I had a mishmash of string, shoe laces and anything else I could tie together
Had a headboard with a round ball at the corner
So I looped it around the ball, over a thumbtack and over the eagles wing then back around under a eagle claw
