So, a pilot is trained to land on a highway ?
This year is off to quite a start.
I don’t usually argue with idiots but as I’m both a pilot and A&P as are both my brothers and and our father was a 747 captain with thousand of hours I will make n exception……the pilot is trained to find a landing spot with maximum survivability for both passengers and people on the ground…….it seems he did that…..

No no, the pilot should have gone inverted then done a split S back towards the runway.

You know, like in the movies! 😃

I was asked why I had this interest. Here's the deal. I have been on my homestead for 8 years. There was a small rural airport here when I moved in. I would say it was lazy. A few years ago the runway was extended and now the larger planes are now frequenting the airport. Many of the Flexjet and Netjet planes are in and out of here now. There are now flight schools and plane rental companies.
I get to watch the show. The difference between a Netjet pilot and a pilot taking his first solo flight is, to say the least, staggering. Especially when that solo flight is over my house.

Where are you trained to land ? Was this an option for this pilot ? Or, was this just luck ?
Runways are preferable, but that was not an option for this pilot.

The aircraft was a Cessna 208. They don't need much room to land. It's not like a jet.

Landing on a highway is usually a gamble, but sometimes it's your best option.

We are trained to take the best option.

I can appreciate your concern.

If it helps, student pilot's are trained for emergency landings BEFORE they ever solo fly.

So, "Kill the Umpire".. ?... Seems the problem's still exist. Perhaps the Speaker is not the problem.

Kevin McCarthy, Nancy Pelosi, Paul Ryan, John Boehner, Dennis Hastert, Newt Gingrich
It isn't the only problem but it is a problem. He is the voice of the people right now. Perhaps he should represent their will. I don't believe the majority signs on to what he is agreeing to. Deadlock is better than bad deals.

The problem is "the voice of the people" will never get past the Democratic majority in the Senate.. Nor will it get past the President's veto.

I can only hope when they go to TRAIN they will take one of those unfired weapons out of the safe and run 100 rounds through it.
Doubt you are a FED... Their plan is "Bread and Circus"... Hold the couch down.

So shut the government down. Send all the non-essentials home. Democrats get their power spending others people’s money. Republicans in House play to win or they should formally swap their allegiance to Democrat and make it official.

SCOTUS ruled state unilateral secession unconstitutional in 1869, but that revolution or consent of the states could lead to it.
If Texas really pushed the issue i doubt the supreme court would have much bearing on the situation. At that point it would be like King George telling us to cease and desist

if they wore MAGA hats, the FBI would already have them identified, in custody, and in solitary confinement........ before their trial even started

Relating to the Texas border policy, once upon a time Andrew Jackson was told by the Supreme Court that removing the Native Americans wasn't constitutional. He told them to pound sand. So they're only the final word on an issue if they have the force to back it up. There's probably a lesson there if I cared to consider it more deeply.

i think at some point...
after they have trotted out these clowns enough times...
so people have seen the costumes and associated it with "patriots"...
something bad will happen, and grainy footage of people dressed like this and fleeing the scene will emerge...

Are you gonna straight face tell me half those faces dont look like Feds?

I’m no fan of Nikki, but who cares who she was screwing? Do we really think any of these politicians are not banging multiple people? Heck, I bet a bunch of them are involved in that hooker operation that is suspected to be a spy op that has suddenly gone quiet.

One of the first thing I have learned in flight school is "do not land on the f*cking highway". I was learning at LSGS. If you look at it on the map, it's a CIV/MIL airport, with the highway almost parallel. BTW. Was fun to see F/A18s passing by at the intersection.

In the EASA program we spent hours to simulate engine failures and emergency landing, before the first solo flight. For the little story, the second time I went out for the engine failure "drill", I had a the engine literally about to stop (winter/low cold temp) at ~100ft AGL. My instructor was stunned, said something like "jez, what the fuck ..", "prepare to land in the grass ahead" (was in simulated final), followed by "my command" and the engine went back to life just afterward.

I remember seeing a women with a horse ridding there in the middle of the field.
